i served 14 years active duty in the Navy Seabees and did 6 deployments. and i Just volunteered for a 12 month civil service tour in Djibouti with public works unit. Deployments are easy i love experiencing new places and cultures and stacking up sea stories. we signed the contract to serve so its part of the deal focus more on the experience than the stories instead of the sacrifice.
A person to whom I may or may not be related may or may not be in a place that resembles/sort of resembles/is nothing at all like the place I believe is being described here (possibly). On a totally unrelated note, my nephew (who pretty much joined the Army because he for some reason admires his deranged, black hearted, clinically insane former Grunt uncle) is currently downrange as a 23 yr old SSG. Proud of him - he's way more motivated than I ever was.
Very similar story. Stationed in Ft Bliss, did 9 months in Djibouti in 2014. Got voluntold to cover Chabelley airfield due to being promoted. The day shift, graveyard shift was hard on everyone. Bunch of people got demoted for falling asleep on duty. The roads are as described, it's hard packed dirt, watching the locals trying to survive the day. I know what you went through at Chabelley. It's hard on morale. Crazy how people walk the same paths.

I’m air guard. Deployed to Chabelley Feb - Aug 2021. Always felt bad for army guys bc it looked so boring. Used to give the medics rides from cldj to Chabelley quite a bit. Made the drive from cldj to Chabelley twice a day for my entire deployment bc there wasn’t enough beds for all us to stay at Chabelley
I was the army unit you followed 😂 yea those roads were shit lol. Chabelley wasn’t terrible tho, I’d rather be at chabelley than stuck at cldj every single day
Chabelley wasn’t terrible, i was happy to be there than stuck at cldj every single day. We landed about 10pm, we were on mission at chabelley within 4 hours

@@hassanrayan3921 my guy… idk how long you’ve been out of the country but our police does carry big ass guns, i’d say white men are safer still though, those cowards wouldn’t risk fucking with foreign armies so they just stick to placing roadblocks wherever they feel like and emptying their own ppl pockets🙂 acab everywhere… but at least it’s not afghanistan 2.0 ahem somalia ahem

It's important to acknowledge that poverty exists in Africa and that there are people who are homeless, but to generalize and say that everyone else is homeless is completely false. It's not helpful to spread this misleading picture of Africa to others, especially to Americans or other audiences who may not be familiar with the country.
It's important to recognize that Africa is a diverse continent with many different countries and regions, each with their own unique characteristics and challenges. While poverty and homelessness are issues that affect many people in Africa it's not accurate to say that everyone is affected by these issues.
In addition, it's important to highlight the positive aspects of Africa, such as the fact that Djibouti is one of the most secure countries on the continent. It's unfortunate that this fact is often overlooked in discussions about this country and we should strive to provide a more balanced and nuanced view of the continent to others.

The outstations were better than the base itself. The base is just boring, the food was repetitive sometimes gave u diahrea. And Humid as hell. Outside the base it’s a wasteland and almost everyone is homeless the only way I could see someone making it out of Djibouti is being very good at soccer and the flies are terrible
