Land erosion and landslides are clearly very hard problems to calculate and fix. And the traffic workaround adds a lot of time to the commute for those who use that road.
I loved in Topanga during the famous 1980 Topanga Floods and a big section of the entire canyon road washed away at the bottom of the “S” curves, and the road was out for months. I mean the entire road was gone and looked like a cliff. You either entered thru fernwood, old Topanga, or from the valley. We survived, and I got a month off from school, so that was ok. From what I know of this area, it is my opinion that the road will be closed for awhile and they will build a wall with I beams, and Wood lagging to help hold back this massive section of dirt. Just my opinion, but hope they get it open for residents and commuters. The Canyon must be so quiet now.
Did he say that Tuna Canyon was getting traffic lights so it can be used as a two way road again?
sounded like a signal light at Tuna Canyon @ PCH
405 is absolutely packed thanks to this.
Interesting how this area was hit with that 4.7 earthquake Feb 9th...
What earthquake?
This won't reopen until closer to the end of the year now. Enjoy the traffic!
