- Flood watches have been issued for parts of Southern California. Several areas that have been hit hard so far this year are bracing for more damage and potential mudslides

I lived through the Montecito debris flow and mudslides. Once you go through that- you don’t forget.
That house on Flicker Way? Looked it up on Zillow. What a beautiful place - pics of the interior show a nicely designed house; very sad that it is likely a total loss now. That boulder-filled hillside behind it makes it unlivable. Doubtful that there is a retaining wall system or arresting fence that can stop a 20 ton boulder.
California hills are made up of large boulders sitting in a mixture of loose soil and sand. A little rain and it all comes sliding down.
