Kudos! I think you may have finally nailed a home for insidious roots, that doesn't depend on a combo! I will absolutely give this a try and compare to your other roots decks. I have found that roots by itself is an inadequate win-con, but adding the crypt and recursive ability of Balemark makes it synergize and, as you say, you don't even need to draw it. Deadly Brew also finds a perfect home. And Haywire Mite is an under-rated swiss army card that is put to good use here. I use the Mite in a golgari beanstalk deck where I keep pulling it out of the graveyard over and over again with Balemark to destroy control deck enchants. To see if this can be improved, I will try Fairie Dreamthief instead of vermin, as it has its own graveyard exile ability (which draws a card!), has surveil, flying, and doesn't accidentally mill non-creature cards.
deck is very fun. just won a game where I lived through 3 sunfalls, a temporary lockdown, and 2 or three split ups, then he broke out two forges off of doubling season right at the end, clutch agathas/haywire then killed it all on his turn with the tokens. super back and forth edge of your seat shit. love roots, favorite card by far even though its generally tough games. your other one with urborg scavengers is real fun too. (though ive had better luck with 2 mosswoods instead of the reach rabbit)
Nice deck, it's one of my fave cards alongside Doppelgang. Desperate for a competitive version using those 2 cards. I just wish I didn't lose so many games to the shuffler
Were you testing this in unranked play today? I got smoked by this deck or something very similar to it while playing around with your no rares mono red earlier today
Graveyard shenanigans. Interesting. Not really my cup of tea,but still, interesting. And it seems to work well. I won't try this, mostly because I blew up a lot of wildcards (and I mean a LOT😂). I'm currently trying to combine angels and dragons (Idea came from a dream, there were two decks, one is what I dubbed "Angelmaker",this one worls pretty well, the other was angelic dragons). So far,I tried simply putting them together, tried the blue leyline, currently trying Valkyrie's Call, have another idea for blue leyline, but still...it just does not want to work. Ehhh😥. Take care and have fun!
Would this deck serve as a decent shell for a mycotyrant deck? I've been trying to figure out a deck for that lovely elder fungus and can't find a way to make him work. Granted I'll also acknowledge I am definitely not a good deck builder. Great roots deck btw!
playing this i'm 0-10 so far. I understand the play patterns as I play this sort of deck regularly. The lack of consistent creature removal, and the lack of consistency in having enough creatures is really causing me to struggle. Maybe back luck, but I'd have hoped for a win when my opponent stumbles or something.
I’ve played about 3 more hours in unranked on phone while watching TV and crushing. So not sure. Edit: Just went 5-1 on phone in unranked. Must be missing a play pattern somewhere.
@@MythicMichael I would agree provided I haven't played these style of decks extensively. I think the answer lies more in that I am not as highly ranked, so the pool of decks I play is less diverse.
To be clear, I saw multiple play patterns in the video I thought were less than ideal, and yet you still were able to do very well. I will run another 10 games in a bit, I think the lower ranks are just much more oriented towards a style of aggro that the deck struggles a bit against.
@@MythicMichael Of course, you're wonderful to listen to, and have a fantastic demeanor when playing. Your ability to play off meta decks with such joy is one of the things I love about you. It isn't a criticism, but it was helpful to communicate that the issue isn't the play patterns, but I think the overwhelming lack of diversity at the lower levels. Mythic doesn't tend to have that problem.
You are the only streamer that has made me want to buy wildcards. Best streamer in TH-cam mtg arena!
Thanks!!!! :)
Yooo ive been trying to get this to work for so long and you really did it with this one! Masterpiece Mike at it again! I gotta try this out
Woot woot! Been playing it some more and still feels nice :)

Yeah it felt nice and synergistic here :). Hope you crush!

Great to hear! I just won a game where he reanimated a Valgamoth and 2 Atraxa’s and I powered through it haha. Deck has some legs!
I've been building a graveyard deck past week with "Whip of Erebos". Still needs something
I’ll take a look! :)))
Thank god it's cheap. I have already spent Wildcarts that I didn't have and also Wildcarts that my children should have had for their studies.👍
Hahah. Yeah, focusing a bit more on more budget friendly ones currently. Have a pretty budget friendly orzhov in a couple days too :)))

Thanks!!! Is very cool card for sure :)
misplaying our way through mythic 😎 i was saving WCs for the new set but may just have to craft this one xD
It’s a fun one for sure! Next set still a month away I believe haha
i like your decks!
Thanks!!! :)))

I actually was so definitely could have been me haha. I’ve played this like 3 hours in unranked on phone at it crushes :)))

Potentially! I’ll give that a shot too :)
this is fun to play, tnx
:))))
Its been a long time since I have seen a content creator punt so hard in the first few games.
Heheh. Still took the W thank god! :)
@@MythicMichael I would say thats more of a credit to the deck ;)
True true, but I made the deck so I’ll take it! :))))

Could be different matchups hurting a bit for sure. And agreed I misplayed a lot haha. But hopefully I’ve cleaned that up as I keep playing :)

where da dinos at
I’ll get one soon hopefully! :)))
WHat do you think of reassembling skeleton over Gnawing Vermin?>
Not a fan to be honest! Too expensive, and both the mill and death trigger on Gnawing or very clutch :)
