That is a GREAT video of my birth city Palermo, thankyou for sharing it, it was very nostalgic to watch, as all my family still live in Palermo, and only my patents and uncle migrated to Australia.

Palermo, a name familiar as many of my Italian friends ancestors cane from here. The history is fascinating, the markets look amazing, the laser lights on the buildings look spectacular and l noticed that the streets have no rubbish and are well maintained even though they are centuries old. A very fascinating place, for sure! Thanks for the video and commentary, much appreciated.

Fabulous city. Thanks for the unique smellivision feature that just exuded from your footage. That white bait and swordfish was delicious. Was hoping you would go for the pomegranite juice, rather than the orange, at the juice sellers stall though. The chick pea flour munchies also looked and smelled fabulous, along with all that fresh produce on the markets. What an amazing and beautiful city Palermo is. So ancients and utterly fascinating. Good on them for organising the NO Mafia movement amongst the store keepers too! As always, another fabulous episode of your travels. So lovely to have such detailed records of the highlights for you too! Cheers and happy travels for the week ahead.

    Mi amo Palermo!
I’m retired and living on the coast outside of Palermo. I take at least 2 long walks in the city every week and it seems there is always something amazing around every corner. Next time you visit the city, avoid the tourist areas and wander through the local neighborhoods. Stop and have a bite to eat or a drink in some of the small local establishments. Don’t be afraid, you will be welcomed!

I understand that there is a question mark in the thumbnail and that the past cannot be erased.

The Yakuza of Japan were formed nearly 300 years before the Sicilian, so Sicilians didn't "invent" the mafia.
Italy's crime rate is one of the lowest in Europe, lower in some categories than all Northern Europeans, confined mostly to petty crime and it's homicide rate is tied for 3rd lowest in Europe with Norway, almost comparable to Japan's. Those American mafia movies and programs and others have smeared Italy's reputation with overblown stereotypes.

If during the Covid there weren't the people of South of Italy, that every evening at 6 began to sing on the balconies and keep the spirit high, all that tremendous time would have been a total interior death.
The south of Italy is chaotic, disorganised, messy, but passionate. It warms people up - although sometimes, as a person from Milan and Luzern in Switzerland it is indeed too much to bear! 😅😅
It is soo nice to discover Italy through your eyes! Thank you! ❤
