I’m also Ramapo Valley UL Club alumni from back in 98.. Sam Briseno had trained me. I no longer fly.. I spend all my money on snowboarding trips these days.. I decided to digitize some old VHS tapes from days and flights at Shawanga Valley Airport and what memory’s I must say.. it’s great to see alumni here on TH-cam….. what timeframe did you train at RVUC.. you remember Sam, George Roscoe, and Joe Acoveno? They were all great guys.
I only know Joe since he's the one I bought this plane from. They were all getting ready to hang it up right before I joined. I managed to put her together and start hops before everyone went their separate ways. They ensured me I was doing everything the safe way. There is still one guy, Dan, who has a white challenger I flew with a few times to Randall and Kobelt airports. I missed the days when everyone was flying, but now it's just me flying out of w Wurtsboro.
Love the colours, just had mine redone couple months ago in similar black and green but yours looks way better. I couldn't see from the video but did you close the gaps between your control surfaces?
I painted my sails twice already lol. Latex acrylic exterior house paint. It helps protect against the UV rays I think better than any spray. But I'm not as experienced so I could be wrong. The control surfaces have a velcro strip between the ailerons and the wings. The tail has gaps in the control surfaces.
@@jamesordwayultralightpilot so you have to do them before the cable is finished/looped on the end. Man they look killer! I just love the color combo on your sails, looks really good
You mean the rock guard? That one is really old I just got a new one I'm about to put on. The cable wraps are like straws with a slit down the side so you can slide them over the cables. I just painted the sails again this past winter Jet black and Tennis ball Green.

What did you do to Change the color of your cables? Heat shrink?
