Only seconds into the video and I have to thank you for holding it up next to you. It clearly shows the size of the unit. No other review had that and that is what I was looking for...not just hands on the mixer.
I'm planing to buy it after a year because now I'm buying a beginner controller coz I'm beginner and after learning all those things on the beginner controller I want to buy this awesome equipment . :D
Got the DDJ-SX about a month ago and I can't recommend it enough. It's pretty much the best controller available ATM, and I've tried most of them (S4 not even close, NS7 not impressed, the rest are mostly toys). The amount of thought pioneer put into this controller is mind boggling... Love it.
Dude, thank you for this really in-depth review! Really did a great job here and it has helped me make a decision on making the move from Traktor to Serato. Thanks again!
Kareem, Good job on the review bro. I am loving my DDJ. Since I've got it I've been hitting the streets with it and not really finding the time to sit down and fully understand all that it does... thanks to your video, I am more than satisfied with my purchase. Thanks again.
I currently have a hercules rmx2, just got it for a graduation present. Although I think I can get a little more in depth with djing parties, and weddings. Thanks a lot for the review! Really considering on investing in the Pioneer DDJ-SX -AhLights
With the S2 I was DJing in clubs within 3-4 months. Not even joking, it's really that intuitive and well-built. It has yet to break down on me (knock on wood) despite sustaining indirect beer spills on multiple occasions. Can't speak for the S4 cos I'd rather save for a DJM and CDJs but I'm told it's the S2 with more decks, which I'd imagine is ungodly awesome
Hey thanks man... I got a buddy that has been drooling over my 600 for years... Now I know I can sell it to him and use the money to help pay for the SX.
Well, a negative thing is that the DDJ-SX is like 1 machine, the 350 are 3 different pieces so if I want to replace the mixer with a 4 channel one, i can do it with the 350, but not with the DDJ-SX if you know what i mean
thanks...trying to decide on leaving tractor ...i want to video dj as well as get a solid controller....but ve just gotten used to s4 and tracktor 2.6...however the s4 build is not solid...seems like i will be giving up features that i like if i make this move
when you say limited sampler controls.u mean they dont have any of the adjustments that are available in tractor? are these things that are missing going to be included in updates? Do you have a review showing the video dj function? thanks
I am impressed with the DDJ-SX with all the features it has, my only concern is its sturdyness, The unit is contructed out of durable plastic and not having a case around it seems like it would get damaged easily, The numark NS7 (2) that is due to release is a BEAST and made to last, and has "Touch" sensitive controls. How will the DDJ-SX stand up to it?
you mentioned midi mapping a alt controller for effect or sample control... what unit would be good for this and will you ever do a vid on this ....really want to learn more on this it might eliminate the need to have kueit up and running or just make for a more dynamic mix
up to 1:00 you hit the pads to turn on some FXs and used them kinda like a Bleep function, but the song picked up where it would have if nothing had been done. I am running traktor 2.6 and DJM-T1 and i would like to set up a few of my hot cue or fx to simulate that. What functions are thos pads triggering when you hit them?
I got a comparison question about the Numark 4trak and the Pioneer DDJ-SX. I want to get into scratching but I want to do it on a controller instead of vinyl. Even though the DDJ-SX has some more features than the 4Trak which unite felt better to scratch on? Also the cut in time looks like it's the same when the fader is set to its sharpest setting, but was the virtual needle on the SX's platter more helpful or comparable to the revolving light on the 4Trak?
What's up man? Nice review as only you do. Question, can you DJ with video using Serato Dj and this controller? Thanks potna. One Love, DJ Malarky out. Happy Easter!!!
Great review! I'm having difficulty choosing between the sx, the ddj-t1 and the ddj-s1. I personally do not scratch, to me all of these products are great but which one would you recommend?
Kareem, Interested in pioneer DDJ SX. If I want to record using all for channels at the same time on the Serato software. Would the software recognize the two vinyl decks?
I'm learning... So that will allow me to do what I'm looking to do? It might sound old school but I like talking while making mix tapes .... I thought that was a given... And another thing what's the difference between serato itch and dj serato?
Thanks for getting back to me....so if I wanted to make a " mix tape" an talk over with mic it won't record? That's a game changer for me... Please help me on this issue...is there any other controller out there that you highly recommend ? Saw your videos and they have been helpful.
Is the Novation Twitch, compatible with this? I'm interested in buying this controller. But make sure equipment is compatible with other controllers and MIDI's can be a slight pain. :/
ah makes sense, would you still need 2 cdjs to load up a track on each deck or could you just use one and load songs up on both decks on the controller? Thanks for replying by the way!
Can I make a dubstep out of ddj-sx only, like the wub wub wub beat? this maybe a noob question but I really like dubstep and want to learn how to create them. Thanks for your reply anyway, very helpful!
Kareem I djed back in the days with technics...didn't play for 15 years and want to get back into it.... I like the ddj sx but hope I'm making the right choice... I heard there are some issues with the mic... Can you record mixes with mic on serato? And can I use a non powered speaker with this controller? Any feed back would be useful, I appreciate it!
So when you say you can just plug it in and use it without a computer, does it have a usb port for flash drives and then how do you tell what song your loading up???
so you're saying this has to be used with serato? i want to find a controller that can be played without any software/ kind of like the mixdeck from numark. like it actually has mp3 players so you don't have to carry around a computer as the midi source
Kareem quick question this nothing related to the controller but between the ns6 or vci-400 which one should i get or what other controller do you reecoment thats around those price ranges that is better ?
I have been holding out for ns7 2 ...but I think the ddi sx is a good unit...Im not totally sold on the ns7 2 yet...havent seen any real good demo reviews with it yet. they just opened up serato dj to the ns7...it was ok
Just had a hands on feel for the first time of the PIO-SX and I have to say man as you may know it is one very well put together unit, I liked it overall but I did find a little play in the faders. Approximatly 0.5 of play in each of the faders. It may have been the shop model wear and tear but for the machine as a whole I found that play space a little strange. Is this a common feel for pio faders?
Hey Kareem, Great reviews brother. My question is, how is the sound quality compared to the DDJ-S1? I do recall you saying the S1 had some of the best sound quality from a controller that you've heard.
Hey mate, great review, my question is can you make your sample buttons "trigger" function like with Traktor, i was waiting for you to mention that in the review i'm not sure if i missed that or you never mentioned that because it doesn't have that feature?
First off great review! Secondly, would you recommend this to a new (semi musically/technically competent) user? (back story) I'm looking at getting a Serato rig for around $1-1.5k. I plan on using/playing around with it at home to do mixes and such but also play at friends gigs and other small events.
The DDJ-SB cannot do all the advanced features so you would be paying for the upgrade for nothing really. Get a better controller like this or the DDJ-SR then upgrade to the full Serato DJ.
Kareem, it was between this and the xdj aero and I decided to go for this one in the end! My only question is, as I will get used to this and not CDJs which are club standards- is this controller and a decent laptop good enough to play at the local clubs around my town? No big venues just around 2-300 people or so.
i would like to get a dj controller or mixer, because everything i do is usually virtual. Something beginner and easy to use, do you have any suggestions?
I currently have invested in Virtual DJ Pro 7.3, can this unit be mapped to work with VDJ? is this the best controller out there in terms of features etc.?
Kareem, in your professional opinion. Is it worth shelling out the extra few hundreds to get it over the Numark NS6? I was so close to getting it this weekend then I learnt about the DDJ-SX and now I'm thinking this is a better buy. Any thoughts on the comparison?
Nice, any guesstimates of how soon? Not trying to nag on you, but i would just be very interested in seeing such a video because i think you make very detailed and informative videos! :)
I have an old amp that doesn't have XLR or RCA inputs, if i plug it into the quarter inch booth output will that work as a master output or do i need to get an adapter for RCA or XLR. Any help appreciated
Kareem.. One more question do you need an amplifier if you connect it to a speaker? Like if you just want a small party speaker? And what would you recommend the size of speaker and make that is good quality sounds? Thank you for the reply again more power sir...
If the speakers are powered, then you don't need an amp, but if they are non powered, then you need an amp. It doesn't matter what size you get as long as they play good for you. You only need bigger speakers for if you are playing a party.
DJBooth Pro Audio I have a Amplifier and Graphic Equilizer. Can I connect the Controller to both equipment I just mentioned or do I need to get rid of my Equilazer?
In regards to the audio output. I plugged in an rca to aux plug into the mast output 2 and no sound was being emitted. And the auxilary plug was plugged into a 2 speaker bose system with a sub woofer attached. Is there something i need to change in serato to let the sound come out or if im hookin it up wrong.
Hi man, I am really impatiently waiting for your Review of the Pioneer DDJ-SR. I am really undecided about some options here. Numark NS6, Pioneer DD-SR, Traktor S2. When will you have the review for the DDJ-SR ready? Cheers, Y.

sup i have a few questionsthe sampler sectionare the samples able to function with sound effects like in tractor pro 2.6...can the samples be set up to run on an external midi controller sample pad player like a custom midi pro fighter or a pair of them like using two tractor kontrol f1s?
hi kareem. i am looking at purchasing pionner ddj sr or ddj sx. i noticed that the sr has some more pad effects than the sx does. which one would be the better buy.
***** Thanks. So this can be from iTunes as well? I just bought Maschine, Massive software, Alberton Intro Software, and Misa Digital Tri-Bass. Can this system interact with these (MIDI) or will I have to create a song in MP3 to the computer. I like the Demo you was doing to show the affects in the beginning, can you save and create your own version? Thanks.
I'm not sure, I haven't used them both in a while, but Serato DJ effects are available for use on both controllers. It's not like one has more effects than the other...
The DDJ-SX2 is the new updated version of this that has the standalone mixer option with the DVS timecode and CD option as well so you can connect CDJ's and Vinyl turntables to play back Digital tracks within Serato. The Terminal Mix 8 is tight too and I also reviewed that on the channel. Check it out as well. I would say the DDJ-SX2 has some cool new features, so I would get that over the TM8, but they both get the job done.
Do i need to buy the 1/4" dual plug to auxilary to play thru my system. I know that serato and my ddj are synced because it shows the song playin and allows me to scratch but once again i cant hear anything. Please help asap.
I LOVE the fact that you mentioned that the filters will still work in stand alone mode, so helpful
Only seconds into the video and I have to thank you for holding it up next to you. It clearly shows the size of the unit. No other review had that and that is what I was looking for...not just hands on the mixer.

Hey Kareem, thanks for getting back at me. Your video reviews are great and non bias. Keep up the hard work. It's much appreciated.

Best review out of the lot I've seen, can't wait to get my hands on this....

Oh my fucking god, that intro was fucking beast!!!!! I love this controller!!!! MUST GET!!!!!!
serato dj now allows you to use 6 FX at once (one per knob)
great review
Salute to you my brother nice review, Just got me the SB, your videos are very informative!
Thank you that was a great tutorial you have just given I am planning to buy one of this guys but needed to get more info about it
thanks again
Great stuff, can't wait for this one to arrive now!
Well, a negative thing is that the DDJ-SX is like 1 machine, the 350 are 3 different pieces so if I want to replace the mixer with a 4 channel one, i can do it with the 350, but not with the DDJ-SX if you know what i mean
I am having the same decision dilemma...I can get the DDJ-SX or the VCI-400 for the same price, but can't decide. Great review btw!
Thanks Kareem, I think this might be the joint for me.

damn, this is some good video quality. Also he was just using gate hot cues? Any scratching? Any transitions?
What's up man? Nice review as only you do. Question, can you DJ with video using Serato Dj and this controller? Thanks potna. One Love, DJ Malarky out. Happy Easter!!!
yea i been trying to figure out what i needed to do, im thinking Flux mode with a 1 beat loop will be close to that (bleep) sound
Kareen, Have you witness having audio drops outs? Losing audio for a couple of seconds? If so, what do you recommend?
If I have an external cd player hooked up to the ddj can I use the on board effects from the ddj ??
Great review! I'm having difficulty choosing between the sx, the ddj-t1 and the ddj-s1. I personally do not scratch, to me all of these products are great but which one would you recommend?
Hey man, I love these videos they're of great help. What are your opinions between the DDJ SX and any Numark controller?
Kareem,
Interested in pioneer DDJ SX. If I want to record using all for channels at the same time on the Serato software. Would the software recognize the two vinyl decks?
What do you recommend for a newcoming DJ that wants to get started? What kind/mdel/brand of controllers and software would you recommend?

i want to upgrade from mixtrack to this unit.. i love it....does it work with vdj ?

can ddj sx work without speakers?for example sound card is my headphones output
hey Kareem, what about holding shift and then hitting the samples will that shut off the toggle and you can hit them rapidly?
Kareem I djed back in the days with technics...didn't play for 15 years and want to get back into it.... I like the ddj sx but hope I'm making the right choice... Can you connect some 1200's and a SL box for another DJ to use the mixer part of the Controller

When you use this as a mixer do you still need a serato box if you want to use it with 1200s?
you should make a review on the American audio dv2 mixer
Hey mate,
great review, my question is can you make your sample buttons "trigger" function like with Traktor, i was waiting for you to mention that in the review i'm not sure if i missed that or you never mentioned that because it doesn't have that feature?

Have you had any crossfader ptoblems with this controller? My father has this and he had issues with it from the start
Thanks for the reply Kareem I really appreciate it.. I just got my DDj SB so I thought it's better if you have a full version of Serato.. Thanks
The DDJ-SB cannot do all the advanced features so you would be paying for the upgrade for nothing really. Get a better controller like this or the DDJ-SR then upgrade to the full Serato DJ.

Ok. I just got the Pio-sx thursday and i'm bout to get a mic monday, do you think it will be good to get something like a Samson S-mix?
using you're vinyl decks with this, will it bring up you're bpm for vinyl?
Kareem I have the ddj sx my crossfader isn't working I can only mix up and down what's wrong here please help
i would like to get a dj controller or mixer, because everything i do is usually virtual. Something beginner and easy to use, do you have any suggestions?
Will you be reviewing the DDJ-SX2?
I might do this still!
Will this work with existing serato scratch programs? I have Serato scratch live (SL1 module). Or will I have to reinstall the program?
If you haven't done it already, is there any chance you could make a review of the DDJ-SB?
Nice, any guesstimates of how soon? Not trying to nag on you, but i would just be very interested in seeing such a video because i think you make very detailed and informative videos! :)
Cool :)
ive had my controller for a while what does CD on the RCA input do/made for?
I have an old amp that doesn't have XLR or RCA inputs, if i plug it into the quarter inch booth output will that work as a master output or do i need to get an adapter for RCA or XLR. Any help appreciated
Thanks a ton kareem!
Can I connect the Controller to both equipment I just mentioned or do I need to get rid of my Equilazer?
i did check out the 4 track....i need individual channel level indicators...many designers are putting out these units with these flaws
I'm thinking of selling my 4TRAK to buy this. Not really satisfied with Numark support & Traktor's randomness :(
Hi man,
I am really impatiently waiting for your Review of the Pioneer DDJ-SR. I am really undecided about some options here. Numark NS6, Pioneer DD-SR, Traktor S2.
When will you have the review for the DDJ-SR ready?
Cheers,
Y.
*****
Thanks for the quick reply. I actually got myself a DDJ-SR today. It's quite neat, especially when you figure out how to play deck 3/4. Not bad that one can ad another CD deck on it. Still waiting for your review though :-D.
Cheers,
Y.
hey man just bought my new ddj sx yesturday! the update it came with was working perfect until i went to serato.com and downloaded the new update 1.1.2 then my ddj sx kept freezing and i have to close it down and reopen it every hour or so..jst wondering if u know how i would go about going back to the first update that it came with, im djing in a week and cant afford for my equipment to freez, plz help..gret video by the way man
Nice review , I would like to know can i use traktor pro 2 with this controller?
*****
Thank you Kareem.
Does this work with Vitural DJ?? does the new Serato play Music videos ???
I can't cue the opposite channel in my headphones for some reason when I'm listening to Side A i can't hear side B and when I'm listening to side B I can't hear side A so i have to fade in the mix which sucks what do I do?
this may be a dumb question but will this work with the NI MASCHINE ? would that be a sick setup?
sup i have a few questionsthe sampler sectionare the samples able to function with sound effects like in tractor pro 2.6...can the samples be set up to run on an external midi controller sample pad player like a custom midi pro fighter or a pair of them like using two tractor kontrol f1s?
hey Kareem just wondering if the effects are post fader?
Should I buy this Pioneer DDJ-SX or should i buy the Pioneer 350 pack?
Kareem, what kind of usb cable do I need to connect the ddi sx to a laptop?
Do you know if this works with DJAY software for the mac by Algoriddim?
Hi have you ever had any mic issues with this controller. and if so how can I solve the problem?
Any recommendations in headphones... Was gonna do the beats mixrs...???
hi kareem. i am looking at purchasing pionner ddj sr or ddj sx. i noticed that the sr has some more pad effects than the sx does. which one would be the better buy.
They should have the same pad effects...
How does the DDJ-SX compare to the kontrol s4?
Do you have any clue why you can only use 6 pads on the sample section instead of all 8?
New guy here. First I thought those were CD's sitting on top of the deck (Jog Wheels). So how do you get the song into the system?
***** Thanks. So this can be from iTunes as well? I just bought Maschine, Massive software, Alberton Intro Software, and Misa Digital Tri-Bass. Can this system interact with these (MIDI) or will I have to create a song in MP3 to the computer. I like the Demo you was doing to show the affects in the beginning, can you save and create your own version? Thanks.
does the sx have a pad plus feature like the sr. for example combo effect trans effect ect
I'm not sure, I haven't used them both in a while, but Serato DJ effects are available for use on both controllers. It's not like one has more effects than the other...
Hey, great video!
Would you recommend this, over the Reloop terminal mix 8?
Not having a standalone mixer is not my biggest concern.
***** Thanks for the quick response!
hey whats up dj booth ..does it come with sampler?
And i went into serato and the only thing it says under the audio section is about the usb buffersize
Do i need to buy the 1/4" dual plug to auxilary to play thru my system. I know that serato and my ddj are synced because it shows the song playin and allows me to scratch but once again i cant hear anything. Please help asap.
traktor or serato? whats better? i'm using a Kontrol s2 alongside a Kontrol x1 with traktor, will this be the upgrade that's right for me?
