Thanks to all the truck drivers who help keep this country going! Thanks!
My dad drives for Walmart and he has always said he is much happier not having to go to truck stops anymore. He loves driving for Walmart.
Because they sleep at Walmart
I have never had difficulty finding a birth at one of our stores. Moderate day planning will solve any problems with the infrequent store where zoning prohibits parking. Stores are open late and way more reasonable on all items ($) than a truck stop.

Walmart, a long time ago, realized truckers are its lifeline, and treats them accordingly. If only all companies saw their employees this way.

@@shanepaul4377Walmart? It’s actually not a bad company to work it’s just the store management can make it worse. Walmart has a lot of benefits and they pay pretty well for the easy work you do.
@@TheBlackAztec3i worked thier for 5 years of my life in illinois. Fuck that company.
@shanepaul4377 the company itself isn't bad to work for. It all comes down to how much of a hell the store management is. The store I work at had a great manager for about 8 years. He then went to a larger store. The next manager was horrible. He was only using our store as a stepping stone. Then him and another manager who got thrown into the position swapped stores and she's a pretty good manager.
Walmart keeping insurance rates down... staying away from those Swift and Prime drivers at the Pilots.
@victorycousineau4457 hey a super trucker,he don't know math
Before I left Walmart they were hiring those swift drivers
My Sam’s Club is using Swift to deliver from our dry DC now🤣
@pinball2002 and in a year Walmart will hire some of those swift drivers that's what they did in California
And keep esp.away from people like you
I have total respect for the truck drivers that keep our supply chains working! I hope WalMart is paying these guys what they deserve. You guys are the best!
Walmart pays their drivers really well,100k a year
I remember working at a store years ago back before they become super centers. Even then it seemed like Wal-Mart took care of their drivers.
This guy is a real professional driver! I’m pretty sure he is a great employee and and a safe and courteous driver to share the road with!

Or maybe a real pederast.
I have been OTR since 1997, Only 1 driver has ever complained about working at Walmart. I used to take live unload to a couple DC in Kansas. Drop my trailer in a marked spot and park in bobtail. I was always told where restrooms and break rooms were. And I'm not a Walmart employee. I can't believe how many other warehouses offer us an outhouse and 80 percent of the time it's filthy.
Glad you enjoy driving for Walmart.
Walmart associates have access to the store overnight, they even have self checkout open. This also includes Walmart truck drivers.
Now that it’s no longer 24hrs it must feel like their own private clubhouse.
I should of became a driver. I wasted 14 years in stores and they treated everyone like garbage. Got worse as time went on. I am glad to hear that the drivers are being treated well 👍

At my company I'm shocked how badly truck drivers are treated. No access to washrooms at all. They come in to literally a cage to talk to our employees. The company is international as in border controls but still, it's just nasty.
I remember working for Walmart and the truck drivers spending the night at the Walmart lot and they would come into the break room make coffee get stuff eat and supplies and talk with us bringing news from other areas. It was neat and I loved working for Walmart back in the day.
I don't drive but found this an interesting insight into your world. Thanks from Colorado.
I never drove a semi truck but I bet it is an interesting job. I did travel the US and Canada in a motorhome in the 80's and 90's and enjoyed it but when my eyesight started deteriorating and I could no longer drive I sold the motorhome. Such traveling can get expensive quickly, there were some summer months (I was a professor and had summers off into the early 1990's) I racked up $1800 on my Mobil card plus a couple thousand on my Visa or Mastercard. Fortunately I could afford it but it added up quickly.
When I drove. We had maps & that’s it. Sounds pretty easy now. Glad there looking out for you
I have worked in a pharmacy for 25 years at several different companies. Walmart takes care of us better than any other company. Glad to see they take care of other associates just as well.

Walmart is one of the worst companies on the planet ! Like 40% of its employees are on welfare because Walmart pays them so little ! You own Walmart stock or something ?

@CanadianEbikeoutlet Out of curiosity, what department or position did you work in?
I drive for a Walmart vendor and twice a week do my 10 at the stores. I've considered driving for Walmart but I don't want 70/hrs or to work nights or weekends . I've talked with many of their drivers and it seems like a very good driving job..
As a regional driver, I loved staying at Walmarts just because of the conveniences, and much better sleep. Truck stops are noisy 24-7.

You would save a lot not buying showers and time not struggling for parking. Also your tuck is less likely to get a hit and run.
Because they can park at the Walmart stores. They can shower & sometimes eat at the terminals. Don’t need to park at a piss infested truck stop.
I work for UPS and I avoid truck stops at ALL COSTS. Too many non driving rubes.
You reminded me of not going to Comic-Con any more. Too many people there that never touched a comic book in their life lol. Not like before.
Yup. Last time I stayed at a truck stop some mouth breather backed into me. Apparently it was his 4th accident in 2 months. Rest stops are king.
I use the GPS.. break nearby... or along route.
I never stay at truckstops because other drivers might damage my truck. Not everyone can back... plus Walmart has cameras ,so if anything happends they got it all. Stay safe driver...

I drive for Walmart and my preference is to avoid truckstops simply because i like to avoid the drama . I dont wait in line at fuel bays. I dont hear people playing smashem crashem. I dont have reptilians hitting me up. For night parking prefer parking behind a store or a rest area.

I worked out of the DC in Grove City, OH during my first two months at my first company. They said it would be $1000 per week and I'd be home weekly and I could not pass that up. It was stressful sometimes, since I had to park my rig two hours away at the end of each week and had to make sure I still had that time on my seventy, but I did love getting to stay at Wal-Marts when the truck stops were full and the large lots at most Wal-Marts gave me the space and time to get better at backing the truck. Sure, I could not fuel at the DCs as I wasn't one of their drivers and could not shower there either, but it was still nice. I also pulled a lot of loads out of the Washington Courthouse, OH DC, and despite my inexperience they let me pull a few reefer loads, which a dispatcher at the Coldwater, MI DC told me they usually only let certain drivers pull reefer loads. It was a lot of work, but I think in many ways it really helped me get better as a trucker.

I use to stop at Walmart stores quite often. They actually welcomed truck drivers even if we weren't company drivers. All you need to do is ask. If they say yes, they'll usually tell you where you can park. They know drivers are going to spend money in their stores.
there are less and less out there that will let you park now. it sucks because it makes it hard to get groceries.
It's nice to hear good things about Walmart for a change
Seriously...
I rarely used truck stops except for fueling. I took showers at the gym and pulled over at rest areas and exits to rest.
They have a gym membership thingy where you can go to almost any gym in the USA for around $20, I can't remember the name "Walton one pass", maybe.
I haul for Schneider. Did a month hauling frozen/dairy out of the London KY DC. I really enjoyed it. Didn’t need truck stops.
I'm so happy I don't have to stay at truck stops any more because my customers let me sleep in they're fenced in yards so much easier!!!
I used to drive charter motor coach. While I carried fuel cards in my driver's bag, I (we) rarely used them because the coach company I worked for specifically ordered the coaches with the largest fuel tanks that were available from both MCI and Prevost. This meant that if we were out on either a day trip (like taking a high school senior trip to a theme park), or a single overnight that we wouldn't have to fuel because our four depots all had fuel stations and discount contracts for diesel (added bonus, the bus cleaning crew would clean the and fuel the bus so I didn't have to smell like diesel or the toilet). The only time I had to fuel is when I was out for three or more days. You would rarely see one of our coaches in the fuel island at a truck stop. (We had about 120 coaches on the roster at any one time.)
Yeah. I have seen lots of Wal-Mart DCs and a lot of them are nice. This one in Maine is the nicest I have seen. Beautiful area. Nice showers.
As a former OTR refrigerated trucker the list of WalMarts that I could stop at has shrunken the last few years I was trucking, even just to shop, my local Walmart has done away with all oversized vehicle parking, so RV's are not allowed to overnite because of the vehiclurized homeless.

That explains why I never saw many walmart tractor/trailers where I worked, and we’d get their work through a roadcall at their DC, which I don’t mind, was usually clean and easy to work in. Of all the things walmart gets wrong, at least they take care of their drivers.
Walmart stores are close enough to the DC's that they are able to make it out and back easily.
Thanks for the help, hopefully soon I'll be driving for Walmart.
I would always take advantage of parking at the DC or store when on the walmart fleet! Much better than ANY truck stop for peace and quiet!
I had those lists when I ran on the pop up fleets in the early 2000’s, those things were worth their weight in gold

I'm not a trucker, but there is a pilot station about 40 miles from my house that has a fully manned Cinnabon. In fact the only Cinnabon left within several hundred miles I believe. So a couple times per month I make the trip. But I pay extra courtesy to anyone who looks like a trucker. I consider myself a guest in someone else's house. So I try to not act like I own the place.

I know theres not a ton in my aera (I work at a store west of Philly) and all our trucks come from a DC center in Wilmington DE. There not a ton of stops and its a fairly short trip so they seem to drop the truck grab an empty trailer and go.

Yep, because at Swift, as long as you have a Sam's or Wal-Mart load you can park at A Wal-Mart

I see Walmart trucks at truck stops quite frequently. 🤔
I worked at a Wal Mart DC nearly 30 years ago, and the drivers were treated way better than the people working inside. I'll put it this way, at the company picnic associates got hamburgers and hot dogs and drivers got steak and lobster.😅
I use to drive with Swift. Driving for them I was in a detected Walmart unit. Walmart would call us to help making deliveries in late Sept through about the first week of Jan. I drove out of Porterville, with trips to Apple Valley, Buckeye, Red Buff. Before I drove for Swift I worked as Maintenance mechanic at the Porterville DC for 12 years. Got to know a lot of the drivers and dispatchers. Then when I start with Swift, it was coming back home, only now I pulled the loads instead of watching the trailers being loaded. Being Walmart dedicated I saw a lot of stores in Calif from the border all the way to Red Buff. Some stores in AZ, Washington, New Mexico, and Pennsylvania.
Well did you apply yet. Your doing the work but are you getting the pay and PTO
I've seen a few Walmart drivers at truck stops. Most recently was in Millersburg Oregon at the Love's there. He said he only wanted to stop there because of the food trucks and was gonna head out home afterwards but instead shut down for the night. Was a real chill dude too.
For us what don't know, DC is Walmart distribution centers . Truckers need a special cap, without a visor for those who 'wear' their caps backwards to be Kool! They used to be called beanies, or skull caps. Ever see a fool shading his eyes with his hands and his ballcap is on backwards?
Best comment I've seen
I don't understand what exactly you meant, can you be a more precise?? Pls
Are you kidding me? A "Walmart driver" can park at any Walmart he wants....and get an employee discount to boot! Not to mention they only drive from distribution centers to stores! Other drivers deliver to the distribution centers in most cases....
I have had back-hauls from the DC's stores in one northern state to another to sit and wait on a load of pickles, for a day. But in most cases, you try to get to your home DC every 1-2 or 3 days. He's right about the Employee Discount Card, though it's not that great, doesn't give you 10% off on everything. I was one of those "Other Drivers" from a DC that hauled to Menomonie, WI and to Georgia and Marcy, New York and many DCs in between, even went down to Bentonville, AR. once. We were treated great!
For us non-truckers and non-Walmart employees. Is a DC an acronym for Distribution Center?
Yes
@wills5310 If there weren't so many of you clogging up the roads we wouldn't have to pull out in front of you. ;)
Yes, but there are some differences between the types and areas of the types, like most stores in one area of a state or three states are serviced by that DC, if it holds store freight or frozen etc. There are several that ran teams mostly, like the one in Greencastle, IN. I ran several different types of freight out of there, office supplies, clothing, shoes, sporting goods. It is a Dry Goods warehouse that services many states, as I was sent far side of Wisconsin one day and a few days later I was in Georgia. The starting pay was $70k and when I left I was making $78k, after only 10 years driving for them. And they only made you drive with ONE Log Book and let you take a family member along if you were not carrying another driver and driving alone. ASKED US WHERE WE WANTED TO GO, treated us like Kings! The other DC's we delivered to often sent us out with THEIR store freight, but it was 100% NO TOUCH freight, and, if you want to, they have their own bedbug trailers, (Family freight home movers), that they often use to move managers and bosses house furnishings around with, and you MIGHT like that or hate it, I just never asked to do that, as there are only a few. Mister SAM, the original boss, liked his truck drivers but hated the Unions. He drove an old pick-up and liked to shoot game birds in south Texas, with his dog. They even sent me and Co-driver to New York City 11 days after 9-11, with one of many trailer loads of free/collected Relief Freight, carrying gloves, bottled water, gas masks, etc. The stores all have a monthly charity budget , and I have never worked a place where the company and the workers contribute so much to a Charity fund that they can chose to give out to the local charities, first come, first served; I never worked at a place that gave or encouraged giving so much, they even let us and customers pay out all or some on stranger's Lay-a-ways. It's a shame to see the news shows with the Rioters and Vandalism causing the company to close so many stores. 100 people employed at each store, now unemployed because of the thieves.
That’s a good system they have
I drove for Schnieder and I stayed at Walmart DCs . I drove a few Walmart loads and was Walmart dedicated for awhile I often stayed at Walmart stores.
Because they can park at Walmart stores without getting booted?😡😊
There are stores that we can get booted at for parking in our store parking lots. There are some cities and towns that pass laws that no truck can park at the store. Walmart does not control that it’s the dicks in the city and towns that do that
Especially in and around Atlanta.
Not all, there are multiple stores that do not allow WalMart truck parking. That is usually a restriction due to local ordinance or the property owner.
You must live in a ghetto. All my Walmart stores around me allow free camping in there parking lots. Along with trucks. They always allowed over night sleeping in parking lots. Every morning there are tons of RVs, and trucks in my local Walmart.

Walmart may be hiring, but I promise you and them that they screen out good people with their utter dependence on an asinine computer assessment test, without having a candidate ever meet with an actual human being.
I'm a retired Navy professional with a diverse background and experience, advanced technical training and experience, an advanced degree, a second professional career behind me, and now semi-retired.
I don't need a job, but I thought of working part time to add some more dollars to my retirement accounts and supplement my pension.
I considered applying to work part time in the local Walmart auto center, but their computer test failed me with no explanation and no avenue of appeal. Calls to every phone number on the Walmart hiring website were answered with "Well, that's our system and there's nothing we can do about it."
Some local Walmart employee acquaintances have told me "Well, that's because you answered the questions honestly."
Then what's the point of the test if the only CORRECT answers require you to LIE? AND what's the point of Walmart's inexplicable dependence on it?
If you've taken their test, then you know that those questions are so wide open to interpretation that you can drive an 18-wheeler through them.
So I don't need to work for a company that surrenders its brains and its future to a stupid computer test that is very poorly written and poorly administered.
I have failed many of these tests. And I have just come to the conclusion that it's because I am a free thinker and have common sense. I can not be easily controlled or manipulated and more than likely be a nuisance to them.
They are probably right, but their loss.
I have since gone into business myself.

Makes sense. Considering Wally World is the largest private employer in the United States they have some economics of scale that give them an edge over other drivers.
Easy for you to say if your truck and trailer have Walmart all over it or JB Hunt dedicated. I know a few drivers who got booted and had to pay $500 to have it removed. Some drivers have invested in buying grinders to remove them for themselves or others. the major problems at Wally World parking lots are the RV's and campers that would stay there forday. they would leave trash all over as well as dumping their shit tanks on the blacktop. Buc'ees won't even allow bobtails on their property despite allowing tour buses, RV's and campers The only trucks they allow are deliveries and fuel trucks.
I am so glad I know longer driver. High fuel prices, low load rates and lack of parking.
And once a year, some fool tries to get a big paycheck so he Brake-checks you, with the company name on your trailer. I smoked those brakes, and glad I didn't have a heavy load on. Before dash cameras.
Talked to a few Walmart drivers when I was at their DCs and they said why park at the truck stop when we have free parking and showers at the DC. Plus if you run late you don't have to stress about parking. Wouldn't mind doing the Walmart account but Swift and CR England have that sewed up.
Oh, don't worry. The Swift and England reputation will catch up and they won't hold those accounts for long. A swift driver will surely destroy a dock plate or destroy another truck backing in to a dock!
Just come work for walmart. It's way better than just having a walmart account. Drive4walmart.com
That's what I've heard. Werner where I work has Walmart accounts back east in Illinois and Ohio. They're starting to do pop up accounts in different locations due to the need for freight to be moved, don't understand why they need us if Swift and England have the accounts. Now Walmart needs to treat their retail employees like human beings.
Reading all these comments about Walmart Drivers making $100K+ per year makes feel like I made the wrong choices on which company to drive for in my driving years because the most I ever made was $63K (in 2008). After driving school I started with Roehl Transport out of Marshfield, WI in 1996 and was with them for about 4.5 years. Then I went to work for Heinz Ketchup and drove for them for about 2.5 years. Heinz decided to outsource all their transportation and laid us company drivers off. Then I went to work for Roadway Express in 2004. I had to relocate one time with them to keep a job, and then was laid off in 2009 when Yellow and Roadway merged operations. In 2010 I had to retire for health reasons and I been retired on disability for 13 years and am 65 now and so my driving days are long gone. I was short 6 months of being vested in the Teamster Pension when I got laid off and then retired. I saved a lot of money during the time I worked though and so I am fairly comfortable. If I am careful with my money I should be okay financially until I die.
Google Maps has "overlays" that can be customized and can be set to private/locked
it should be easy fot Walmart IT department to use app data to make an overlay to show EVERY store, distribution Center, and color cooredinated to show opening times (or 24/7) layover vs NO layover even local non-Walmart resources that drivers may consider useful.
SAM WALTON was pro-driver so if Corporate refuses without reasonable reasons I'd suggest new employers

Have a few questions. Are you guys paid hourly or by miles? Are there cameras in the cab recording you? Are you home on the weekends? Do you get holidays off? Do you have food allowances (paid meals)? What’s the procedure when you break down? Who services the trucks?
Pay is by the mile and activities so paid for drop, hook, live load, chaining, wait time etc. All that on top of milage. Cameras facing forward only active in an event like hard breaking etc., there are different schedules starting every day of the week. Most common is a 5 on 2 off, they can start that schedule on all different days. Holidays like Christmas they will get you back the day before to go home. Thanksgiving if you want they will run you in the morning then send you home to return the next day unless you requested time off or it's your natural day off. They pay us $42 /night to sleep in the truck no food allowance, but they have catering at least a dozen times a year. We have shops at all Distribion centers that do everything in house. We use fleet net for roadside
Cameras recording you isn’t a big deal. I’m a transit bus operator. There are cameras inside and outside. They actually protect you with evidence too.
I find it odd that they won't take someone with less then 30 months experience but will take a kid out of the DC get him a CDL and make him a driver? Why not just take others from schools or less then 2 years exp?
YEAH, ain't that some shit huh?
Cause he already been brainwashed into the cult
I asked them that question when I called about driving for them and they couldn’t really answer me, they said they just do 😂
Because the people working at the DC have already proven track records and they know their personality. We do the same thing at my company. Nobody gets hired without a minimum of 2 years experience unless we pull from inside the building and they've been working there for at least 2+ years. They've proven they have a good work record and they can handle the stress of being a truck driver. We approach them and ask them if they're interested and then send them to school and I get to be the lucky stiff that helps train them in the real world applications that school never teaches anyone. They unfortunately learn more with me in one week then they learn in the whole few months at school. I can also tell my boss that I would NOT think someone is a good candidate for a driver because there is a large customer service aspect to our operation.
They want order followers not thinkers🙄
Wal-Mart hires their own drivers and their is a Wal-Mart every 20 miles apart to park at. Duh swiftly. 😂 😂 😂
People will break into the trailers😂🎉
I would love to try to make it thru the hiring process to be a driver for Walmart, and I think I might qualify with a squeaky clean record, but I've been driving doubles for 5 years and not sure if they would accept that as the relevant experience needed.
I don't work for them but I would think if anything 5 years pulling doubles would put you ahead because that is an additional skill. Even though it's probably not a relevant skill for wally world, it's a skill that not everyone has, and if anything other that a 48/53 taking more real estate turning, hauling doubles on a dolly or a super B is harder and requires more skill
You are more than qualified. Only need 30 months in last 36 months tractor trailer. Use me as a reference with my employee number. John Dian #37933. You'll be top of the list
This guy is obviously sponsored by Walmart 🤣
I don’t even work at Walmart and I prefer sleeping at wal mart and if I can’t I’ll park at kohl’s if possible depending where I’m at because they don’t give a damn 😂
I see walmart trucks all the time at 4 rest areas along an iterstate near me. There is also 2 distrution centers near these also. One distrution is food the other is everthing else walmart sells. Garrett lndiana food distribution. Coldwater Michigan everything else walmart sells distribution.

Only certain products arrive on a Walmart truck, some of their inventory is contracted out
I always see Walmart drivers doing their resets at the stores when I do my trailer swaps
