This is basically the Sydney I left in 1985. I recall people having chicken and champagne outside around the flagpolesin the evenings after work. Boy do I miss the old gangplanks and hearing them being put into place for the passengers to disembark in the clip it seemed only like yesterday. Great footage! Thank you.
This is such a wonderful clip and a great flashback to my youth .Dad would often take me a trip over to Manly every few weeks for an outing.In 1984 i would of been 11 , so i can say i got to enjoy the classic ferries before they were pulled from service .In 1989 , i was lucky enough to be accepted to do a weeks work experience aboard the Sydney ferries for one week (high school).I was given full access to the MV Freshwater and got to tour the engine room while doing the run , as well as doing bridge duites for a day , and yes this included steering (not sure if they do or even allow that these days?).But like the poster above me , i do remember the sounds and the smells of the older classics , and think they were the greatest adventure out.

The Manly, and Sydney Harbour, run died when she was retired :-(
It is tragic to see her now days.
