  • China held a convention in Beijing on Friday morning to commemorate the 150th birthday of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, a revered revolutionary leader who played a pivotal role in overthrowing feudal rule in the country.
Chinese President Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, delivered a keynote speech at the event.
"Today, we gather here to solemnly commemorate the 150th birthday of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, to remember his lasting contributions to the independence of the nation, the progress of the society and the happiness of the people, to carry forward his revolutionary spirit and noble character, and to inspire all Chinese at home and abroad to unite with each other and fight for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation," Xi said.
"Dr. Sun Yat-sen was a great national hero, a great patriot, and a great pioneer of the Chinese Democratic Revolution. He dedicated all his life to the revolution, was resolved to save the nation and people, and made contributions to the Chinese nation that will shine forever in history," he added.
Born in 1866 in south China's Guangdong Province, Dr. Sun Yat-sen was the founder of the Kuomintang Party.

We all know that. He was the President of the Republic of China or Kuomintang which overthrew the Qing Dynasty. The Kuomintang was the ones who allowed the Japanese to do whatever they wanted in China. Following that there was the Chinese Civil War between the communists and kuomintang. When the communists took over China the country became a lot more stable. Between 1912 and 1949 China was in a state of chaos that non-Chinese people would never believe.
