I mean.. I was worse but not *like this*. Strive was literally my first fighting game and I never went below floor 6 when first starting out (not that it means much ofc) but still I really hope they are having fun and enjoying the game there ^^
Those Leo's are playing so defensive, but I can see why they might think he's meant to be played like that. Big buttons, 2 parries, a strong fireball, and an easy DP. If you're new, I can see how you could come to that conclusion haha
As a defensive player, I can't help but loving these guys. They're going to go far. One day, they won't be floor 1 players anymore, and if they can keep their methodical approaches while refining their reactions, we'll all have a problem going against them. Soon enough, they'll learn that you can play defensively while on top of their opponent, soon enough they'll learn that they can scare their opponents into a reaction. Soon enough, they'll understand that their opponents are also humans and that they have insecurities and weaknesses of their own. Soon enough, they'll realize that they already have the tools to win, and they'll learn the confidence to use them. Soon enough, these players will move up, and that makes me so happy to know because their style so so similar to my own and I can't wait to see how it evolves. I'm rooting for the low levels
Speaking as a more casual player, we're playing entirely different games from people that know what they're doing. When I first started out with fighting games I just kinda mashed and didn't really have much of a plan in the moment, but I at least have more awareness and have carried over some knowledge from game to game. The biggest issue I think is just knowledge; people don't know what to do after a counter hit or a wall splat. They don't know when it's safe to attack after blocking. Or they don't know the ins and outs of the cast's moves. I see a lot of people get hit by the final hit of RTL after blocking most of it, for example. I tried to Roman Cancel more at the beginning when Strive came out but I tend to just forget about it entirely. Not an execution problem anymore, just a case of "oh yeah I probably could have RC'd and closed out the round." I'm just glad Strive's floor system seems to actually do a decent job of keeping people of relative skill level together. I hover around floor 7 and 8 and I think that ends up being just right. I don't get outright destroyed by most people, and fights tend to be close, but every so often you encounter someone who knows what they're doing and they'll probably rank up soon after. Gives me motivation to keep going though!
exactly this! My biggest issue is not knowing when its safe to attack after blocking and how to continue my string of pressure after a counter hit. The struggle of just figuring out what works and what doesn't. But man its fun.
@@Inabaedits It's definitely a LOT of trial and error! I had to have it beaten into me that against Giovanna she just gets to keep going for a bit before I can even think of doing anything.
You only quit when you get seriously owned and overwhelmed. But Strive's match making is so good that I felt right at home among the lower floors when I was first learning.
GODDAMN the Floor 1 Nagos and Leos actually playing footsies. Meanwhile their Celestial brothers going ham rolling their faces on the controller 😂😂 Totally wild!

I remember back in the day watching people playing Street Fighter 2 and most of them were going absolutely ham on each other mashing every button possible, but these Floor 1 guys are built so different that scares me.
We forget kids and teens growin up today are playing video games sooner and more often than we did. Or at least since they are more exposed, they have more time with it. Also getting tips on the internet is such a significant help for new fighting game players. Instead of spending maybe months learning fundamentals, youtube has you covered to get it down in shorter time.
As a fellow low floor scrub I'm surprise that there is someone on floor one, I thought we all just played on floor four because that's the only place that sometimes you can find five people playing
I'm one of the Leos at 2:30. I'm not quite as bad anymore as I was in that fight. Seeing it now is pretty cringe. I have the first wallbreaker combo I ever did on my channel, and I've gotten better since. I haven't been playing lately tho.
Your first wallbreaker combo was great. Even if you're on the low floor levels you clearly have a good grasp on the game as well as Leo kit's basics. Keep going bud
I did that when I first picked up Millia now i learnt one basic combo learning another then it's going to be her dash cancel ( the move where she slides forward)
This was really entertaining to watch. This is why keeping new players coming in is so important for a fighting games health. Even matches are fun and exhilarating, they keep you wanting to get better.
Bro is it just me? or the floor 1 Leos and the Celestials fight the same? Fr tho, Celestial Leos are just kinda faster with their inputs, but the patterns are all the same 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Nago main here. That 6H whiff punish put a huge smile on my face. That was a big brain move. When that player gets good enough, he will fukyo after it, 6H again, fukyo. Set himself up for a command grab, or a mix up. It's great to see new players adapting the way they are.
Every time I’ve seen floor 1 people playing it surprises me. Most of them do specials and supers and seem to know their buttons. Think a lot of it is just nerves when they run into people who may be new players but can input more combo strings and be aggressive.
I feel like this is legit a good way to come up with new ideas. I would never in a hundred years think to use Leo like Guile, but if they used the down-up charge too like the classic guile spam I could actually see it actually being a cool strat in short bursts, to confuse the opponent
Always nice to see the latest generation of GG joining the fray! Hopefully they're enjoying Strive enough to stick around. We could use some new blood in floors 7 and higher, once they get to that level! It's only a matter of time.
though I dunno how much is just not knowing how to access aggression in fighting games. I was so bad I lost my fight against the initial placement AI. :P I had no idea how to reach them and punch them right when I started. It sounds really goofy to articulate but fighting games are such a fundamentally different game category that very little transfers over from other games.
