Ooooooooh yes! My #1 all time favourite band. Been into them since 2006 and have gained nothing but love for them with every release since. Fuck I wish more people reacted to them.
PTH is amazing. Profoundly slept on. A true musician's band, to the point that they quit doing the record label thing and have independently released their last 3 albums. I'm seconding C'est La Vie as a followup, just an absolute tour de force of a song. Their newest album is also really compositionally complex in ways that I love. Lots of big complex flowing arrangements, and Rody, their vocalist, writes some really great stuff. Also the Avenged Album with the skull is Waking the Fallen.
They actually started as a skate punk band, and as they got better at their instruments decided to go heavier and more intricate. Gotta hit blindfolds aside, tidal and the canary next. Absolute bangers.
If I remember correctly they were 19 when they wrote this, and they actually wrote the song before they could play it. They had to train so they could play it.
dude what a sick breakdown, you especially nailed a lot of the influence, especially SikTh. they've mentioned in interviews how they all listen to them.
There's definitely some sikth sauce spread over these guys. Sikth's influence gets overlooked a lot. They paved the way for band's like protest and periphery. They were very much ahead of their time.
Great reaction. Really like the style of on first listen and the the second one more of a breakdown with the influences you are hearing. Love this band and the way they keep a short song moving through the movements of the song. Always loved the ending build up and breakdown riffs so heavy
5 months ago 👀Glad you're back to doing these. I love watching your reactions. Just something about the things you say, straight out of my head. I'd say "get outta my head" but no don't, this is awesome!
I LOVE their first two albums Kezia and Fortress, but their later work is also great. I also love their album Volition, completely crowd funded and a real passion project from the band.
Great band. New bands are good, one that grabbed me by the throat was Nicolas Cage Fighter, track Compound and Fracture has some 90s venom I have missed. So very very good.
I like this song but I love what you said in the beginning about not screening songs for reactions; that's what others don't do but wish they did. Respect, subbed.
That was my first exposure to PTH and I distinctly remember also correlating Rodys vocal stylings to that of Cedric Bixler(more specifically to the Deloused&Frances albums by The Mars Volta.)
Another band thats under the radar of many people (albeit they are not active anymore unfortunately) is Painted in Exile. I definitely recommend checking out Distanced by Dissonance. The production isnt quite perfect, but its such a fun technical song.
I feel you have to play an instrument to enjoy protest the hero fully. They're a musicians band . Can't imagine going in blind . Love/Hate music to be honest but I fucking really love em'.
I already heard something there, nice band, but bring me and I am there again, in a different genre of metal, I hear Cannibal Corpse, Napalm Death :) (just a little)
So I saw you had reacted to a cover of Gary Moore's "Still Got The Blues". Are you doing that because you're familiar with Gary's stuff. If not I would suggest his cover of Roy Buchanan's "The Messiah Will Come Again" and/or you might also react to John 5's "Pulling Strings". Then if you're not familiar with Blood, Sweat and Tears then check out "God bless the Child" you'll probably enjoy the journey.
Well, JW, has any of your patreons/viewers proposed looking into Wagakki Band? A fusion of japanese folk (with traditional instruments & shigin singing) and rock/metal/pop/prog - even jazz and swing. Should you entertain the idea, a recommendation: th-cam.com/video/aWlMc-pbDc8/w-d-xo.html This starts with an instrumental Kyoukasuigetsu, followed by the song Tsukini sakebuyoru (with cc/lyrics). That has, well, all kinds of (metally) feel. (ᴀ ɴɪɢʜᴛᴡɪꜱʜ-ʟᴇᴠᴇʟ ʟɪᴠᴇ ʙᴀɴᴅ. ᴅᴏɴ'ᴛ ᴛᴇʟʟ ᴛʜᴇ ᴀʀᴍʏ ɪ ꜱᴀɪᴅ ᴛʜᴀᴛ.)
🎵🎸Moody, atmospheric, instrumental, one-man-band prog? Right this way 👇

LMAO!
The reactionary "Fuck" at @ 3:30 might just be one of the most genuine things I've seen on TH-cam.
Ooooooooh yes! My #1 all time favourite band. Been into them since 2006 and have gained nothing but love for them with every release since. Fuck I wish more people reacted to them.
Didn't expect the Dillinger shoutout, you have great taste haha.
This whole album is a masterpiece. Can't wait to see you hear more!
The first four albums were masterpieces.
Its gone down hill since then😢
@@disclaimer5911nah palimsest is a masterpiece also

'A true musicians band' absolutely spot on, couldn't have said it better myself.
The first 4 were immortal. It sadly went down hill after the record label thing imo
They actually started as a skate punk band, and as they got better at their instruments decided to go heavier and more intricate. Gotta hit blindfolds aside, tidal and the canary next. Absolute bangers.
Agree, those are absolute bangers. I'd throw C'est La Vie and Drumhead Trial in there to represent all the albums.
Yes! All time favorite band. Please do more. C'est la vie was the first song I heard from them and I was hooked.
A great part is that the original 144p video is still on TH-cam. I think I commented on that one 10+ years ago... And still watch it often.
If I remember correctly they were 19 when they wrote this, and they actually wrote the song before they could play it. They had to train so they could play it.

I bet I couldn't hear alone the tenth of what I discover when following your reaction ! Thanks !
Named my first born daughter ‘Kezia’ like the PTH album
Fantastic review, it’s great to see someone genuinely enjoying a reaction. Glad I found the channel with this!
Props to LISTENING TO THE SONG IN ITS ENTIRETY b4 commenting. ❤❤❤❤❤
great vid man! hope the health improves.
Great reaction. Really like the style of on first listen and the the second one more of a breakdown with the influences you are hearing. Love this band and the way they keep a short song moving through the movements of the song. Always loved the ending build up and breakdown riffs so heavy
The snare in the chorus lol. Ridiculous. So talented.

Any song off kezia is a banger by the way
I LOVE their first two albums Kezia and Fortress, but their later work is also great. I also love their album Volition, completely crowd funded and a real passion project from the band.
Volition is a top 3 album of all time for me, it is uttterly ridiculous how good that album is.
"Into a big bath of cold water"
Well, now you have to list to Cold Water by Protest The Hero.
Incredible album, incredible band. I can't wait to see them in a few weeks on the US tour.
Drumhead Trial is an amazing song 2 albums after this
They’ve been my favourite band since 2006, but when I heard Drumhead Trial, they replaced themselves as my new favourite band.
There is an amazing Belgian band called Brutus, they just brought out a new song called ´Liar´ i would love to see you analyse them
Awesome band, there most recent album palimpsest is incredible
Great band. New bands are good, one that grabbed me by the throat was Nicolas Cage Fighter, track Compound and Fracture has some 90s venom I have missed. So very very good.
I love this band! Instant like
The song She who mars the skin of the gods, is absolutely awesome by these guys. Face melting riffs and cathchy hooks too
I like this song but I love what you said in the beginning about not screening songs for reactions; that's what others don't do but wish they did. Respect, subbed.
Cheers, appreciate that! 🤘
Saw the guys open for Metallica in Halifax in 2011. They got the crowd going. Such a great Canadian treasure.
Still waiting for more Protest my guy!
I enjoy a lot your reaction! Please you have to listen their song "Sequoia Throne" by the same album. I think you're going to love it.
That was my first exposure to PTH and I distinctly remember also correlating Rodys vocal stylings to that of Cedric Bixler(more specifically to the Deloused&Frances albums by The Mars Volta.)
Can see in the video of Palms Read Luke wears a Skith shirt.
You noticed the echo with guitar and drums. Not many people catch that stuff.
Another band thats under the radar of many people (albeit they are not active anymore unfortunately) is Painted in Exile. I definitely recommend checking out Distanced by Dissonance. The production isnt quite perfect, but its such a fun technical song.
My favorite band of all time! Check their latest album Palimpsest, From the Sky and All Hands are my personal choices for that album!
It's like harnessed chaos
I feel you have to play an instrument to enjoy protest the hero fully. They're a musicians band . Can't imagine going in blind . Love/Hate music to be honest but I fucking really love em'.
DA DA DADA, DA DA DA, DADA
The best band.
12:46 thats arif on the bass they have no problem doing that live. The only struggles they have live is vocals
Sikth is an influence to them, great pick up by the way. Very similar.
I already heard something there, nice band, but bring me and I am there again, in a different genre of metal, I hear Cannibal Corpse, Napalm Death :) (just a little)
Second real album. 3 more after this one.

Funny that you mentioned SIKTH cause they openly have said they ripped them off before and are really influenced by them in general
Next reaction death squad....mantappp
What band is in the thumbnail? Because it isn’t Protest the Hero.
Think it was Brotest the Bero. Have fixed.
HIDE THE CHILDREN FREEE OF SINNN
Welcome to the problem i have finding anyone near this good.
I have suggestions but nothing is like pth
This is also fairly tame by PTH standards. Still a great song though.
@Someguy136 'Best' is an opinion my man, in my opinion this is FAR from their best song and it was topped several times even within the same album.
I know, right?

Hey, new to the channel, try Baba Yaga from Slaughter to Preveil.
Great. Now do within the ruins - world undone
