Great video! Picking your base gel is super important especially if you have nail concerns. Ive used kokoist megastick base under all of my buildergels for amazing adhesion. Its a must for people with thin, brittle, flexible nails and for people in the medical field that wash their hands constantly.

You literally have the best info. I have noticed since I started doing nails that AA women tend to have a pronounced c curve. I have done a couple of people nails and watched quite a few videos, so it took me a while and through a lot of experimentation to also realize quite a few things you have also mentioned in this video. Will be purchasing some of these base coats.

Thanks for all the info. I enjoy videos like these that are filled with accurate knowledge! I was wondering, when you mentioned that you should not use the mandrel drill bit on your nails because of the grooves in your nails, I believe is what you said, why is that? Also, I have very brittle nails, with a lot of ridges in them. It’s why it can sometimes be quite difficult when applying full coverage gel nails because the gel nail will act like a see-saw at times, rocking back and forth from the cuticle to the free edge because the nail isn’t level. I hope that makes sense. I sometimes have to apply a Rubber base coat, or a thin layer of a soft builder gel to even out the surface a bit. I hope you understand what I’m saying and if you do, can you offer any suggestions to help me with applying my full coverage nails.
    Thank! 😉

I personally, prefer not to use an e-file to prep my nail surface, because there's a possibility I can overfile/buff and alter the strength of my nail plate. The simplest way to explain it, is with my ridges, my nails are already thinner than they would be if those ridges weren't there. So if I even out my nail plate with a sanding band, I no longer have my natural nail structure. I'd have a thinner version of it. Which means a builder gel would now be more compatible for my nails. As i mentioned, even at my current nail type, builders and hard gels can weigh my free-edge down because of the way it grows out, so I prefer not to atler the existing structure of my nails. I hope that makes sense. With your full tips, that may well be the reason why you're experiencing that and your solution of evening out the nail plate sounds like a good fix. But it could also be the fit. Are you using sculpted or natural fit tips? If you have a high arch like me and are using natural/lower arch tips, try going for a more sculpted/higher arch fit ❣

Would you consider the gel glue as a medium base gel? That’s actually what I use and sometimes rubber base since they aren’t as viscous as builder gel.
