      Oh no Device Factor. The guys who hold down one note or maybe a chord while twisting knobs until some tortured godawful ear-splitting nauseating tone comes out are the ones to listen to. SynthMania choosing nice sounding tones and actually playing music is so 80's era. Get with the times.

    The MM was often used next to the prophet 5. The prophet for the smoother and somewhat politer sounds and the MM for the real powerful ones. They are great together!

    • @SynthManiaDotCom
      @SynthManiaDotCom  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Memorymoog and Prophet-5 can actually be similar sounding. The Memorymoog was used with other types of synths - namely digital for contrast - i.e. Bronski Beat with Memorymoog and DX7. In addition, the Prophet-5 can be as aggressive as the Memorymoog. Link to videos of mine with MM and Prophet - similar sound to each other: th-cam.com/video/sLrKykSKIu0/w-d-xo.html and here's a video where Prophet-5 is powerful sound, and MM is the polite sound: th-cam.com/video/cLJj0RN18Lw/w-d-xo.html

    Up until about a year ago my most coveted vintage poly would have been the Yamaha CS-80, followed by the Jupiter 8... But then I watched Marc Doty's detailed series on the Memorymoog and they got bumped down to second and third....

    Paolo. I really appreciate the video on the Memorymoog. What an amazing instrument! And you play it wonderfully. I don't have a Moog yet, but if I get one I'll probably get this one. I love the variety of sounds. It has so much POWER too! Pads are great at 2:00. String power at 2:20. I love it when you bring the left hand into the equation. It just fills up the speakers with such glory. 3:49 has that sweet funky tone. The sound at 10:30 is great! I'm coming back again after work to listen once more. I need two jobs just to afford one of these classic synthesizers. :) Take care Paolo and thanks again for playing my requests. Your fellow TH-camr, Sam (aka. machiwoomiapoo).

    Smalltown Boy is one of my favorite songs!!! I covered that in a school talent show years ago. lol
    I even used my DX7 for the original harp preset.
    Bronski Beat used a Korg Trident as well for the octave synth bass in Smalltown Boy.

      There might be a reason behind that; it uses the same VCOs and EG chips as the P5 did. Not sure why Moog went that route when they could have made their own... I wonder if that didn't contribute somehow to its problems...

    • @devicefactor2290
      @devicefactor2290 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Larry Wilson yes it's trippy.i own a rev 3 . so, I'm not sure if I would be gaining or losing in investing in a memory moog. I would have a hard time picking between both.

      Hey I saw your Roland W30 video and I was wondering if I should get one of these. I love 12 bit samplers and I heard the sequencer is really good too. I make a lot of old school jungle, rave, and hip hop. I found one for 200$ but it has no SCSI installed and I don't know how much sampling time there is on these things. Is it worth it?

      Thanks, man, likewise to you, I love your channel --a few days ago I was listening to your rendition of The Chicken on the M100 and I LOVED it! You're very, very talented, and of course your playing would show on any type of organ, but you're making think about selling my XK-3c and go back to "the real deal" (I used to have a C3) - The XK-3c is very good and a good emulation, but there's just something extra about the real tonewheels and the vintage funk they have.

      SynthMania Thank you so much! I really enjoy your videos as well. Been watching for a while! I don't know where you live, but here in Florida, US, you can often find Hammond spinets for very cheap in good condition. I modded mine quite a bit to have B3-style bass foldback etc. Cheers!!

    Make a couple of songs with Grace singing, if she's good or becomes good (after she's finished with her homework, of course).
    I like the early 80s ones, such as "Perfect Life" from 1 January, maybe also put vocals on "Grace", the one with Memorymoog. Haven't heard all you've done, but I think several are potential hit songs...

    Try to find Jon Lord's intro in Whitesnake's Gambler; maybe the most beautyfull sound produced on memorymoog ever. Lasts for maybe 10, or 15 seconds, but that's enough to hear the noble and rich sound of, for me the best synth ever made. ARP quadra is closest to m.moog's level, and oberheim OB - Xa. maybe adding of some deelay wouldn't hurt.

    Great demonstration, but I'm not really digging the hype around Moog synths. I think it's because to me they are almost a stereotype. Hi Kris Kash, I have a lifelong passion for music, and my instrument has been the synthesizer for a very long time, so over the years I ended up having a bunch of them. This is a great synth..My mini JDXI sounds better though.. When is this vintage mania gonna come to an end...
    I know the synth history bought my JX3P in 1984 but come on...
