The tragedy of all the lives lost at Jurassic World could have been PREVENTED! That's right! If they had followed the real world rules of Zoos and Theme Parks, we could be going to see some IRL dinos RIGHT NOW. Instead, I trudged through the rules and regulations to figure out how to run a SUCCESSFUL Jurassic Park.

Mindy Bayes extremely underrated comment
In the box office, no, it wasnt. But the park itself was extremely profitable!
literally
Don’t you mean CP
I just want to say that, the mosasaurs was actually in a shallow water tank. In Jurassic World, when you look at the tank closely when all the people get lowered down on the stands, you can actually see the bottom of the tank. Considering that they were only lowed a about 30-40 metres, the tank would only be about 60 metres deep. After seeing the length of the mosasaurs that Ingen engineered, the tank would be quite shallow compared to it.
U can also see how its that in jwe2 (Jurassic world evolution 2) which the lagoon is canon in that game
wasnt it a lake or something anyways?? I cant remember right if it was connected to the sea also
@@marfa.h3526 in the first movie and second no but in the third and jw yes it was connected to sea thats how it escaped in jw on the volcanic eruption

@@baryzilla5875 in which case is fallen kingdom more accured then the old movies?
I remember Dr. Wu saying he used tree frog DNA to make the indominus live in a tropical climate so he could have done the same for the raptors to make them more comfortable
True, but then again the Indominus was essentially a prototype bioweapon he was commissioned to make. Having been taught by his time at Jurassic Park and his own prior experimentation with hybrids, Wu more than likely knew what the DNA he planned to include in it did to the animal's physiology, which in the case of tree frog genes would be to allow it to camouflage itself from thermal scans. That doesn't sound like a useful trait for cataloguing zoo animals with the infrared security systems in the paddocks, even though it's *ideal* for a weaponized chimera like the Indominus.
If Jurassic World's geneticists really wanted to have the animals acclimate to a tropical climate, why not turn to heat-tolerant bacteria to fill the gaps that way?
@@thepikamence1250 the Indominus was never intended to be a weapon though, it was intended as a theme park attraction to keep their guests interested. Although it was a prototype hybrid, the first true hybrid they had made. The real weapon was the Indoraptor, as they said they wanted something smaller than the Indominus which could follow orders, hence why Hoskins was so interested in Owen’s research into the Velociraptors’ behavioural training.
@@Delete240 but it was a prototype! prototypes really look like the finished product, they are made to see if the concept works or not. they usually are bigger and uglier then the finished product and can have flaws or problems that the finished product doesn't. the i-rex was a test run, a prototype designed to see if they could splice velociraptor dna with other dinosaurs and get a living creature. they were also testing, with owen and the raptor squad, to see if velociraptors were trainable! it was all a set up hidden under the guise of providing attractions to a theme park!
@@abiean222 the prototype made by doctor wu was the scorpios Rex, canonically it is his first hybrid therefore indominus was a finished product
If he used tree frog, the raptor would be able to change his heat signature/thermal
Well actually in Jurassic World Doctor Wu says “Nothing in Jurassic World is natural! If the dinosaurs' DNA were pure, many of them would look quite different. But you didn’t ask for pure, you asked for more teeth!” So the dinosaurs would have looked more accurate if the scientists didn’t use DNA from other animals to fill in the DNA sequence gaps.
I THINK YOU AND I ARE THE ONLY ONES WHO EVER THOUGHT OF THIS!!!
Yea the used things like crocodiles and frogs instead of just the dinosaur dna so they arent cute fluffy birds
No pro goof I thought this too it’s dumb how people say the dinosaurs are scientifically unaccurate they have to be, it is impossible for 100% of genetic makeup of the dinosaurs in amber or in fossils to be extracted so gaps were filled with dna from other reptiles
What a asa
But it says in Jurassic park that super computers found the missing dna and filled the gaps
I love how in the book the name Jurassic Park is a clear indicator of how little thought the park creators gave to aspects of their park then the movie played it straight without noticing the irony
Oh so the book actually addressed that, huh?

I saw this movie after working at Disney for 10 years. I couldn't get over the amount of theme park negligence that takes place. The movie ends with the Mosasaurus jumping out over the railing... where people would be standing every single day. Park rides not only starting before the guest is buckled in but even before he sits down. The door practically takes his leg off. And one college program employee to manage that entire ride? This park wouldn't have lasted a day or has been paying out tons of money in lawsuits... could be why it was going broke now that I think about it.
I always love comments like this.
They give insight on parts of the movie that majority would've glossed over.
And actually would explain some things in the movie very well
The Real Question is
why tf didn't they fix that
This movie isn't that good.
Its dumb but don't get me wrong it's fun.
Thank you for your service you might not be military but Jesus Christ I can imagine the pain it can be to work at a Disney park all the annoying tourists
True, some people are... well... not the best. Some are angry before they step off the plane. Others stay happy even though everything goes wrong. People make their trip to Disney what they want it to be. Honestly the majority of my interactions with guest were very positive. I can easily say that meeting new people on a daily basis, talking about their memories of Disney and just life in general, is something I miss. I most likely will never have another work experience remotely like it.
SonicScrewdrivr I know but dam when my family went to Disney world with are cousins they were assholes they would complain about being in the line for two minutes longer then what the sign said
They could also resolve a lot of this if they made miniature versions of the creatures. They're already messing around with their genetics, and a dog-sized T-rex may not be as big of a spectacle (literally), but people would still want to see it.
They can accelerate growth rates with cuttlefish DNA so I'm sure they can make dwarf adult dinos

Sorry for hacking your containment facility here is a professionally compiled list of the vulnerabilities:
1) Keeping organic weapons (e.g. dinosaurs) on the same land as the storage for the biological weapons.
2) Being human.
3) Thinking you corrected what the previous person did incorrectly.
4) Not doing your own research.
5) Even attempting it.
I apologise for any inconveniences this compiled list may have caused you, and strongly advise you against reattempting something that has been proven as a fail 4 times successively.
An important detail about the "Raptors" in this series: Michael Crichton wrote the original book at a time when there was an ongoing debate as to if Velociraptor and Deinonychus were in fact the same genus. The Raptors in the movie are explicitly Deinonychus, which are found in similar locations as T.Rex. As such, they should have fit in that environment as well as many of the other dinosaurs did.
MatPat's love for Chris Pratt rivals Jacksepticeye's love for Ryan Reynolds

Aw none tried to say you spelled Chris Pratt wrong, was hoping to r/whoosh someone
@@paulacollins2971 Oh feck

What did u edit?
The "Raptors" of Jurassic Park, though referred to as 'Velociraptors', were actually meant to be Deinonychus, which lived in the same geographical areas as Tyrannosaurus-only earlier.
Yeah but you AT LEAST know the real name of the animals in your zoo! that's like a keeper saying, "here, we have uhhhhh... long necked spotty horse.." and it's a giraffe. -__-
So it's still Jurassic Park's fault for being misleading. XD
I thought Dionicus had a prominent crest. I was told these were more similar to Utah Raptors
@@Griftyfox blame Michael Crichton for that because he thought velociraptor sounded better. At least when he was writing his novel before the movie came out
@@auggieeasteregg2150 yeah, "we made the dinosaur, then it was found". It was mostly based on the velociraptor, but the size was more like the dionicus.
the movie raptors are also more visually based on the Utahraptor. i can't remember where i read about it, but i do remember that, although the first one was found in the 70's. it was 91-93 when the naming and bigger finds where, putting in during the filming of the movie. so yeah the raptors are based off Deinonychus in the book, the movie made them the closer to the size of the Utahraptor. and if i remember right, the findings in the 90's kind of paved the way for them to have the raptors be that big in the movie. but this is all rather fuzzy memory of stuff i read so many years ago as i was a huge JP fan
Hey MattPat! Just a thought, since the velociraptors are so wildly mis represented and appear more as Utahraptors, it’s possible that they just straight up are Utahraptors which would mean the environment was fine for them
i think it would be deinonichus, as they are smaller than the utahraptor and utahraptors are HUGE
actually utah is very rocky and sandy so I think they do need a redo
The raptors in the JP sexology are based off of Deinonychus antirrhopus. Back in 1989, when JP was being written, there was a debate among palaeontologists about whether or not D. antirrhopus was actually a Velociraptor or not. Michael Crichton likely used this debate as a way to be technically correct about his dinosaurs in the novel. Why? Probably because 'Velociraptor' sounds cooler than 'Deinonychus' to most people.
@Atomic Yea I live in utah and it does look like that, NOW, millions of years ago it looked completely different like matpat said in the video so more jungle and such :)
@@TheHazza deinonychus sounds as cool as velociraptor
Owen doesn’t control the raptors with a clicker, it’s a relationship based on mutual respect

Copied off my comment
@@thesoulserpent4893
Oh, sorry
Another interesting fact I heard recently was that all animals on earth that have had contact with humans have over time been conditioned to fear humans. It is why most animals would avoid humans rather then attack them. So if your taking dinosaurs that don't have this conditioned evolution built into their DNA then yeah....you'll get Dino attacks. So one way to make a Dino park work is to start with smaller predators and herbivores Dinosaurs and condition them over a long period of time to adapt to the humans. This unfortunately wont work for the larger predators but you could go as large at velociraptor as shown in the movie. Heck I think they were going pretty good with the T-Rex too. But as soon as they started genetically alternating the DNA they screwed up. Making a Frankenstein monster that has such competing DNA that would mess with it's cognitive functions was just asking for a mass dinosaur attack.
Which leads theory to why the other dinosaurs listen to it. One it was a more predator predator then them with it exuding alpha tendencies so they followed it's command but also because they probably knew this dinosaur was coo-coo and would rather follow it's command instead of being killed themselves. I go with the second one considering that the velociraptors turn on said "alpha" to help the human that raised them and the T-Rex despite being less dangerous then its challenger and older too then this young buck doesn't bulk to its demands of obedience. The T-Rex instead challenges the buck for control as Alpha as is the natural order of the Dinosaur world considering this dinosaur shouldn't exist in the first place.
But that's just a theory. I do like your take on this movie and agree to all your points.
I just came across this comment and am sad it didn't get more recognition in 4 whole months. That's an incredibly good point, and even though they're just movies and won't ever dive into these intimate details, this could and should be the cannon explanation for dinosaur attacks in the movies. (on top of having crappy park management)
@@anglim5579 Just came back to check on this comment and saw your response. Thank you so much!

Why. Like seriously.
One thing I should add is: have Dino research facilities on a different island. The whole Jurassic World plot happened because they mixed research and development with tourist attractions. Isla Nublar is surrounded by four other islands like the panned Isla Sorna. Why couldn’t they use one of those islands to research new species and use the extra space to see if it’ll be a danger. If it responds well and isn’t a threat, they can be tranquillised and sent to the main island, but if it’s violent, then they can exterminate it without it getting in the way of the tourists, breaking out every dinosaur which was previously okay’d but are now just as big a threat as the rampaging dinosaur and create unnecessary lawsuits.
And if they absolutely can’t get that right, then they gotta know when the right time is to evacuate the island. You don’t sit around and twiddle your thumbs when your house is on fire, do you?
mega sean -It's for plot convenience- I think it would cost more to transfer the I-rex via sea or air if it was located on a different island rather when it was on the same island. I'm not sure, it's just my guess.
It might have some financial disadvantages, but researching the Indominus rex on Las Cinco Muertes instead of Nublar definetly would have saved some lives.
Have you seen the things that modern day technology can transport? Sure, an Indominous Rex can't be compared to anything normally transported like tanks, but still, transporting them from a different island would be way more cost effective because there'd be less lawsuits.
they did that before. both the ceratosaurus & spinosaurus were hybridised dinos that were let loose on the island, causing allot of species of dinos to die out due to overhunting as these hybridised creatures were unnaturally agressive, similarly to the indominus.
explains why the spinosaur was willing to take a giant fence to the head to get to tiny wee people.
Kind of would fit in with the older theory that the whole Jurassic World was a setup to test out viability of dino's as weapons.
I hope most people realize that Jurassic Park was the name of Michael Crichton's novel, which the movie series is based on.
How does Steph feel about PratPat?

There’s a Joke in, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom When Owen,Claire, And Franklin are running away from the erupting volcano Owen Grady runs up to 70 MPH in that scene which is “Strange”
Even tho you know instead of putting an huge door they could've put a small door for humans, but ....whatever you know.
Edit:Sorry For Not Getting My Facts Right! Thank you for pointing out my mistakes and I apologize!
How are they gonna get big a ass hellicopter
Well, there is one, on the other side of the enclosure. During the Indominus paddock scene, Owen and one of the workers walk out of it towards the other side of the enclosure where the claw marks are with the other worker and the big transport gate. Later, when they realize that the indominus is in there with them, they move away from the claw mark/gate area across the enclosure back to the worker door, but the Indominus cuts them off. Then, they run away from it i.e. towards the big gate area where the other alive worker opens the gate slightly to escape. Him and Owen do make it out but so does the Indominus. So yeah, they did have one, and its easy to tell thanks to simple logic. I'm not trying to be rude but you can't nitpick/make fun of something until you know and have all the information needed. Besides, they would need the big gate to transport the Indominus in or out when tranquilized or move equipment inside for maintenance. You can see the same thing in modern day zoos.
But then how were they going to get the I-Rex out of the enclosure when they finished testing it if there was no huge door

Was just about to make this comment
Jurassic World's park was doing well until they created the I Rex. Then again they say it was losing money, but I don't think that'd be realistic.
yeah, i mean, where else are you going to see a LIVING dinosaur in the world, they should have been swimming in dough the second they opened
leon fierce Spare no expense can get very expressive.
Sam Butler If you have Spare no expense ideas then money will be a problem.
leon fierce what you need to remember is that in Jurassic world the park had been opened for at least a decade or more and the dumbass general public were starting to get too used to the animals hence why Claire mentioned some kids are looking at a Triceratops the same way as an average Zoo giraffe.
jurassic world is going to be crazy cheap because of a few (coughs) death's in the previous park's made to get people running
Can i just say that Mattpatt is the only youtuber that i can watch without wanting to stop the video halfway through to do something else?
that's sad,how you can't keep you attention on tons of youtubers,or you probs don't watch as much as i do
SuperJordanBlast that your picture is from my hero academia😀
😭🐊
Your right
SuperJordanBlast MatPat*
When I first saw the jurassic park movies I just kept thinking it would be a lot safer if they just made herbivores
Seriously not one person in any of the movies died to a herbivore
Unless it get protective of some food...
Unless they're big enough to crush them
@@chrono-glitchwaterlily8776
But the really big ones are pretty slow
The Therizinosaurus: Yet.....
Wrong I can name a few. First pachycephalosaurus smashed a guy through a car in the lost world.second parasaurolophus lifted a guy in the air and when he hit the ground he died also in the lost world.and I forgot the last one sooo bye.
Fun fact: feathered dinosaurs were already widely accepted by the 90s and the original film actually had plans to use this in the dinos design but was scrapped because they weren't scary enough and in some cases looked too comical for the thriller movie
"Right you are two eyed Nick Fury"
😂😂
Technically nick fury does have to eyes ones just blind by a magic space alien cat not even joking
@@overratedclock Did you see the after credits clip?
Considering the “velociraptors” in Jurassic Park and World were actually supposed to be Deinonychus’ which were found in North-America, but they decided that Velociraptors would be better except that they have the claw of a Deinonychus.
It was meant to be a utahraptor
Thank you as man of knowledge like me with this video
Gabriel Messam Utahraptor was larger, about the size of a horse. Deinonychus would have been closest in size.
Gabriel Messam Utahraptor wasn’t discovered until after the original film and novel were made.
No the DNA 🧬 recipe was 78% Deinoychus anthrpus and 38% Africa reed frog 🐸
Matpat, you made a massive oversight when talking about the conditions necessary for the raptors and dinosaurs in general. The habitats that the dinosaurs would have inhabitted in real life are not relevant. The dinosaurs in Jurassic World are not complete dinosaurs. Their DNA has been altered with multiple animals including fish, reptiles, amphibians, and more but the most important that is actually mentioned is some species of south African frogs. As mentioned in the first film Grant finds out that the raptors changed sex because of the alterations in their DNA. This means that the changes effect their traits extremely, enough to be able to change gender. What this means is that instead of what a Raptor's natural habitat and climate would be like it would be more adapt to a frog's climate type which matches a wet and tropical climate setting. The best example of this is the Indominus Rex using camouflage, body temperature control, splitting jaws and etc. This doesn't just go for the raptors though, it goes for all of the dinosaurs meaning that it just depends on what DNA is used.
You hit the jackpot!
Gigantis Lol funny seeing you here.
that just makes it easier to plan accordingly as they know exactly what their putting into these dinos
Rabbit #32 Probably swept away but I'm glad other people noticed it like you.
Rayshio Tile Your right it does but it has the complete opposite effect lol
I love that even Matpat who was excited for Fallen Kingdom still hates JP3😂
Cretaceous is just as catchy as Jurassic. We're just not used to it
Captain Raz how about Mesozoic park
No it’s not
What about carboniferous park
It really is
If Hollywood wanted to use their dominant influence over educating the public to teach us some real accurate truths. That ship saled long long ago.
Most people will not accept updated depictions of that extinct animals looked like if it violates the more popular movie version.
Humans prefer the First version of something they learned and incorporated into their sense of reality. This goes for all kinds of things; corporeal and conceptual, from dinosaurs to Disney’s formula for what to expect out of relationships.
Too late for the generation which learned it.
Which is why it woulda been Great to see an effort made to update the New generation of dinosaur movies.
Aside from the name change.. which yeah wouldn’t be ideal for their busines$ and merch, I think they could have pretty easily explained in 2 or 3 lines of exposition that since the first “Jurassic Park” used the frog DNA to fill in the gaps in the dinosaur genes, (as the plot device which allowed some of the females to change sex to reproduce) the amphibian DNA also had the less devastating side effect of suppressing the theropods’ natural Feather alleles, leaving them all which that boring greenish/grey/brown scaly skin.
The NEW “Jurassic World” would (presumably) have advanced their genetic technology to correct for that sex-changing frog gene mistake... even though I don’t remember them ever mentioning it...
But they could easily have said that the correction also allowed for the theropods’ Feathers to be expressed.
And wouldn’t that be an awesome new aesthetic update to the predators !
Check out some contemporary dinosaur art and see how much more colorful and interesting these animals probably were.
(their feather impressions were discovered even before the 1993 movie so there’s really no excuse except concervitive aesthetics.)
How to save Jurassic world:
Call it Mezazoic World
it’s big boi brain time
**Mesozoic**
or just prehistoric world in general
I think Prehistoric Planet has a nice ring to it (and it was my favorite thing to watch growing up)
Lol I was thinking about that
if chris pratt commented mat pat would go crazy
Someone send tgis video to Pratt

the velociraptors in the movie are closer to a Deinonychus witch was found in montana and wyoming
Im worried for Stephanie should Matt ever meet Chris Pratt 🤣

As soon as he mentioned a polar bear in the jungle I thought of lost, then he made the reference. Glad to see were on the same page.

Isn't the Jurassic Park's name Michael Crichton's fault? Him being the author of the book the movies are based on? #JusticeForSpielburg
You haven't seen a bloodthirsty dinosaur yet until you've seen a horde of emus running you down, *emu war flashbacks*

That was also a temporary enclosure. It was growing.
I like how some (but most) of The Film Theorists intro images are theories that he's never made.
Sarcastic Kai He’s made a theory on everyone one except the Jon Snow one but even then he technically did
Sarcastic Kai it is Cassidy
He did the hunger games chances of winning one, and I guess you could count Breaking Bad.

He did a Spider Man one I think
You forgot the detail that these dinosaurs are not pure in DNA, they were made by combining lots of species. So i guess that it will be a lot harder to know what they need or will do.
Compu Cocina i think with good observationt by scientist is maybe more easy •_•
Compu Cocina Changing DNA might make behavioral stems change, but most of all animals act the same way. Nevertheless, Jurassic Park still should’ve known the ways to make their animals happy.

The raptors in the films were based off of Deinonychus, not Velociraptor, despite their name. And Deinonychus lived in North America, making the climate of Isla Nublar suitable for the raptors.
I'd say what they are called in the films are more important than what they are based off of, as they are therein considered to be that species.
@@dondemitri3760 that's a very good point, and also proven in Jurassic World Evolution, since deinonychus is a separate species from velociraptor. But, if the DNA is indeed deinonychus, Isla Nublar would be a suitable habitat. Also, Alan Grant is digging in the Badlands of Montana, where deinonychus, not velociraptor fossils are found. Either point is valid.
Yeah, don’t get me started on all the scientific inaccuracies in these movies.
@@dondemitri3760 it's worth noting that the films (and the novels), clearly establish that these are dinosaurs as we expected them, not 1 for 1 copies.
The raptors for the book were modeled mostly off of the Deinonychus and then renamed because Velociraptor was more commonly known. The book was written before the Utahraptor was officially classified and essentially Crichton was writing about the Utahraptor before it was confirmed to have existed (it wasn't clear if the fossil discoveries that were being made were larger Dienonychus until the 80s when they started to find a more complete fossil record and it wasn't officially classified until 1991 - Crichton was in constant contact with those who were in the process of discovering the Utahraptor).
TheYJJ120 they should have a scene where the raptors eat and kill tetonosaurus
Great Video MatPat!
