Another one bites the dust ! That 60 seems like it’s a good fit for that boat ! Took the camper out on its shake down for this year and alls well and ready for the 4th of July trip ! Starting to get my energy back so maybe I can get stuff done ! Lol !
Definitely. IMO, Great Series. I'm running a '90 48SPL on a '90 Model Traveler. 1990 was their last year if production, have always wanted a 3 cyl 60. Always enjoy your vids... Thank You!
Good series to watch. Timing troubleshooting is helpful. I am still wondering why on one of my 25hp I finally got running someone notched out the starter bracket for the timing screw to get more adjustment? It is turned in about and extra 1/4 to 1/“2“ or so compared to my other motor.
I really enjoy your content. I have looked for an answer to the following question with limited success so I will ask it here. How high, far, or capable of check valves/fuel filters are the old style evinrude fuel pumps capable of pulling fuel? All answers appreciated.
I throughly enjoyed being taken along on your adventure. You've come a long way young grasshopper. I'd rather be where you are as opposed to windy and cold Pinon Hills!
Watched your vid posting on a problem I have, still have it. Bought a 10 year old Johnson 25 hp, used it 5 months nearly daily and it pumped water. Sat 3 months, wasn't pumping when I started it up. Replaced with the entire kit-nothing. Opened and blades half melted. Watched your vid, even started and stopped it step by step while replacing entire kit again. Put muffs on, nothing. Opened it again and half melted. Got another one, spoke to the machinic, told the same as your step by step. Completed it and water tub tested this time with weak drill, pumping water about 2" out the hole. Got on the water today, was pumping, took off, 3-4 minutes later seen it wasn't peeing-shut it down. Trolling motor to the ramp. Tubes are all connected, have mouth blown into pee hose with air passing through while foot (lower unit) off. The original impeller wasn't in pieces, blades bent and hard as a rock, looked complete. Tuesday I'm going for another kit. P.S. I do have some mechanical skills, just overhauled a Yamaha 115, every bolt , new everything but the crank and block.
Hi Brandon. Great video! I really enjoy these along with those “tear down” videos you’ve posted throughout the years. Keep the content coming. I have a question about my 2001 Evinrude 175 FICHT … e175fpxsif … looking everywhere but I’ve found contradicting info .. what would the torque specs be for the stator and flywheel? I can’t find any info specific to my motor online. Really appreciate the help, thanks!
What year is that motor? I have the 1993 and until this last Saturday it ran like a top then all of a sudden it bogged down to about 4k and top speed of 15 on the river WOT took it out to the lake and the joker ran like a top again. No clue what happened.
I've got a 92 17' Bass Tracker with that same hull design, got a 45 Mariner on it now but putting a 65 Suzuki on it soon. What was your top speed after you got it running with that 60? Will give me an idea of what that 65 Suzuki is gonna do! Thanks, great teachings and thoroughness!
Hi Brandon. How did you adjust the low speed. I have a 1989 Johnson 70 HP that needs links adjustments. I had it rebuilt so the it needs synchronization. I did the high speed the same way as you did but I need to do the low speed also. The motor runs rough and low speed. Please response. Thanks.
Very carefully. I put them all 1.5 turn out - then it ran like poo at idle. then turned them all 1/8th of a turn until it ran good. Then gave them all another 8th - and it seems perfect. ...However, you are supposed to turn each one at a time, until it stops 'sneezing' on that cylinder. Problem is I couldn't tell which carb/cylinder had the sneeze.
@@BrandonsGarage Hi Brandon. what do you mean by 1.5 turn out? I took the carbs off yesterday and it seems that the carb does not have anything that can be adjusted. the motor run either cold or overheat. the temperature is around 70 degrees using the old thermostat. replace the a new thermostat the motor is overheating at idle speed. any idea why this is happening? Thanks for your response.
I see that you leave your fuel line disconnected. I usually run the fuel out of my outboard after each use. Is there any benefit to leaving the line unplugged?
Many! the fuel doesnt clog the carburetor up as it breaks down doesnt slowly eat away the aluminum and fuel lines, and probably more Im forgetting. Ive had an engine sit for 4 years after draining, fired right back up. Unless Im going out the next day, I do this every time.
I got this same motor on my pontoon, any idea what the stock prop size is? I'm only running 4000 rpm and not sure if I have the right prop. The only numbers I can see on the prop is "979p"
Evinrude. On the front of the engine cover below the 60, Pro Series, there is a funny looking E, aligned with pin-stripping. It looks like two C’s stacked. Evinrude had the E, and Johnson had the Seahorse. It has Evinrude on the sides, but only the front is shown in the video.
I really have been liking the water testing after you get the motors going great content !
That 60 flat out moves. No hesitation out of the hole whatsoever. Well done 👊🏻🙏🏻
Really hoped to see more of the setup and tuning of the carbs , hoped to pick your brains on setup of the triple carbs.

Truly enjoy your videos, thanks for taking us along for a water test 😁👍
Yes love watching you work on that motor, keep up the good work. And well see ya next time see ya bye be safe.
Great series and a great motor. Thanks for sharing.

What do you set your timing light to when you do both the at home cranking test and the on the water idle test? Great video. Thanks!
The 60 scoots your boat along pretty nicely.
That's a awesome video man I have a 1994 johnson 60hp 2 stroke as well and I believe the timing is a little off

stator 120-144 in/lbs. flywheel torque is different for FICHT motors so just look it up in you factory service manual. you do have one right?
Buy evolution 552. 175 on it
Whats the difference to get the extra 10hp between this motor and the 70??
I've been stuffing around with my old motor I will like to know how many MP did you get up to on WOF with that 60hp
nice run
Could you do a link and sync on like a 2006 johnson
Of all the stuff I have on the boat, I forgot to pack a timing light. Packing one for when fishing is slow. 👌

Good series on the 60 HP, but I just have to know, “what’s this guy doing?” What was he doing?
Who, me?

13.25 with a 17” pitch is what mine has on it.
Is it a Johnson or an evinrude ?

Dang that's a fast boat
No love for the vro??
Surprised you can run a boat motor in a lake in cali and not get a ticket for pollution. 🤔
I will send the carson reeds with the intakes. Send me the address on IG and me, Brandon will forward these..
