The show Smallville did a great job at showing their friendship early on, then seeing it fall apart as time went on. Even though the actor playing Lex left the show, the dynamic was pretty cool.
And also made the “baldening” better, so at least the redhead was always known as bald for majority of his life.

It was Silver Age, not Golden Age. Golden Age is much more malicious than Silver Age, who is a lot more complex and sympathetic.

@@abdi2621 I can't point to any specific story but his beef with Superman is based on the fact that he thinks his existence (maybe of superheroes in general) makes humanity too "lazy", he thinks humanity rely too much on Supermann to save them, to explore, to discover. He also has a hard time trusting an alien and there's some level of jealousy involved as well (on the fact he'll never be as powerful or maybe even as good and loved as Superman).

This Origin story was both shown in Challenge of the Superfriends and in Superboy TV series. The only difference is that Challenge of the Superfriends followed the comic book story word for word.

This was retconned in the 1980’s post Crisis of Infinite Earths when John Byrne worked on Superman as artist and writer because his run was a soft reboot of the Superman mythos to modernize the stories a bit. Lex went from being a mad scientist to a corporate white collar criminal and businessman reflecting the decade of Reaganomic corporatism and capitalism in the US. So the personal connection between Lex and Superman was given a clean slate in this reboot.
Moral of the story:

This did get partially retconned in the Bronze Age with a new detail--Lex was also working on a years-old experiment where he created artificial life, and succeeded, but then the fire broke out.
Superboy's breath put out the fire, but also inadvertently destroyed Lex's experiment--from his point of view, Superboy killed his baby. The baldness was just the cherry on top.
Reminds me of Smallville back when the CW knew how to make a superhero show.
