The way we are playing now…we literally are almost always 1 turnover away from giving the game away. We are giving up hella yards up to below average and average QBs, we make bums stars on opposing teams. Winning games by one score in a nail biter is comfortable for you??? That had to be the weirdest comment, we are putting Jalen in harms way, not running the ball right…we keep going away from what’s working and keeping teams in the game. We play so sloppy and uncontrolled. We are paying corners all this money to not cover… this will not phase well in the playoffs

The thing is we’re not getting scores on too much besides the two Washington games. Our red zone defense is good, but the defense needs to get tighter going up and down the field.

Our guys often look confused pre-snap. The slightest bit of motion sends them into convulsions, trying to communicate who has whom. It's frustrating to watch. This was week 9, not week 1. It's hard to swarm the ball with confidence and authority when you have multiple guys way out of position, or just flat-out smoked by the guy they were assigned. I don't expect our defense to get good, but I hope they can improve enough to be just good enough. I think if the offense can become more consistent, scoring early and building leads, it will help. That will allow our pass rush to impact the game more.

Dawkins is absolutely correct: it's a very ugly 8-1. If they don't get things corrected, they will collect losses over the second half. You can't consistently beat good teams playing this way.

I've said this before, probably in both your comments and over at The Philly Special's show as well... to fix the corners, they have got to influence routes better... whether that's a physical thing in press, or showing a receiver a shading technique to make that receiver think he has a certain route on the route tree he can run, and then being able to shut down said route, they have to influence the route... a half second of making the QB think, or have to react to the receiver in a different place, allows the pass rush to get home... ANY QB even backups can hit the throws on the field in practice, if you allow the QB to hit his last step in his drop and throw to an open receiver, its just like they drew it up in practice and QB's will excel, they'll find a rhythm and keep moving the ball down the field... we don't need to have dudes with double digit picks, we need a group that can understand how offenses are attacking and exploiting our secondary, ESPECIALLY at the linebacker level and a lot, not all, of that can be mitigated by simply influencing routes... it doesn't take much, just a step or two off of what they normally would run... those precious tenths of seconds to allow a pass rush to bother a QB and the rest will start rounding into form, and that's where Desai needs to be better at instructing the secondary... don't play off 8 yards in passing situations every time, they're throwing it 3 yards and gaining 15 because you're so far off and dropping more into your zones... corners, if you're going to press... PRESS, knock them off that route, give the D line a chance to get there... even if it's not a sack, if you're hitting the QB, it's speeding up his internal clock... thats how errant throws happen.
I see the concern with the secondary, but I can appreciate the fact that you can actually see him trying to make adjustments, even if they don’t work out. I feel like once the secondary can get some continuity, they will start to iron out the issues. My hopes are they start getting better as the season ends, heading into playoffs
Hey Thomas great show listen Kevin Byard is my nephew. I spoke with his dad recently and it’s more to the mystery then it seems.. I’m not Ed the liberty to discuss it, but a great pro bowler that he is he still is, but there’s some disorganization in the secondary that he has no control over

all along the eagles’ 30 for 38 (~80% wins) stretch in the last 2 yrs the pundits kept saying the eagles’ winning can’t continue. the cowboys? 24 for 39 (60% wins) during the same span. the eagles may not be able to keep it up and win the superbowl. but here is what we know: the cowboys absolutely, positively will NOT win the superbowl. more importantly, the cowboys are a corporation, not a team. the eagles are a team of hometown heroes, always entertaining even in their losses and always in tune with their fans as family. what dallas doesn’t realize is that that enthusiasm and loyalty can’t be manufactured. it has to be grown.
I don't understand the hate on Dasai we all know from the beginning the guy has a bad secondary, yet he does what he can with it and make stops for 9 games, is time for offense to shows up and put the game away.
Every time an opposing QB throws a pass, I wince. Its that same uneasiness you get when a kicker is going for a 50 plus yard field goal in the dying seconds. There is just no assurance that the pass is not going to be completed. The backfield is like a block of Swiss cheese, it's full of holes all the time. Dak picked us apart at will... there was nothing we could do to stop the pass and that's very scary. TM is right, we are going to get burned major in one of these four games coming up if they don't find a solution and tighten up the coverage and stop the ease of opposing QB completions. KB needs to have a breakout game...but it's the other guys that need to get it together, there just seems to be no synergy or chemistry between them as a unit.

Also, when you guys say "adjustments" by Desai, I also disagree ... He is doing what he knows ... The players are the one's that have to execute ... How do you stay 5-10 yards off of a receiver? Hw do you "teach" running with a receiver, and not allowing him to fake you out or catch a ball? How do you teach that? All of us are not in practice, or in the meetings ... Or film study ... They had McNabb on a special/ fancy knee brace. I haven't seen Hurts protecting himself with the same brace. Yes there’s concern but you’re asking a player to come off the street and ramp up his game and adjust in two games when the WHOLE SECONDARY has struggled the back seven as a whole must play better.
when they practice they are going to have do silent practices for most of the time becuase they aren't gonna be the team that the crowd is quiet for the chiefs are so they have to be able to communicate with each other through signals and taps.

The same people saying dont worry we are winning are the same people who rocked with Gannon until KC showed us our holes. Even if we beat KC in regular season, dont expect to automatically complete that feat in playoffs. They are a different animal in the playoffs. I am trusting my gut this year too. Regardless of the record something has to change. The Jets game is an example of what happens when we just don't have enough and not enough has gone our way. This team is too good to be playing like this. Something has to change. Week after week we are playing teams and struggling and clawing a win. And that team often goes on to be dominated easily in ways we can only hope to do. The players shouldnt have to will us to a win. It seems like last year and this year especially on defense that we have been winning games due to Talent not scheme. We have better players than other teams. If Steve Spagnola had our defensive players we would be number one defense in the NFL hands down
Let me say this up front I Bleed Eagles Green. The next half of this season will be the Test. Everyone knew this season would test the mettle. Now it’s put up or shut up time( like every other team). It isn’t who wins the first couple but who finishes with the hottest hand. Once the playoffs start everyone is equal. That’s when you want the hot hand. But it is put up or shut up time. I think a huge issue with this team is the lack of holding calls by the refs. I refuse to believe that our D line isnt drawing a hold for 50 snaps. Its some bs and a perfect way for the refs to keep the games close. That combined with the field issues is why we lost the fkn sb.
Desai doesn't seem to know what he's doing. Spagnolo is one of the best defensive coordinators of all time. Just like last year, our coaches are responsible for the losses, not the players. The players may not be as good as last year, but they're still the best squad in the NFL. We had by far the best squad last year, and we lost the SB because of Gannon. Most Eagles fans knew by game 4 last year, that Gannon didn't have what it took. The organization should have replaced him, but they didn't. The results were predictable. I shouod add that Hurts is better than he was laat year. He's the main reaaon our offense is winming games for us. Now we havd to go uo against the Chiefs without Goedert. I suspevt it's going to be a long night.
The Eagles Secondary has been questionable since the start of the 2022 Season. Against good quarterbacks they give up awful 3rd and 4th down passing conversions. They have to get it fixed or we’re going nowhere fast.
It just hit... MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, Desai is trying to be too smart with his defense. This isn't the first time that we've had a DC try to be too smart. How about we simply the defender again and let the talent show. That said, can we please run stunts with the D line more frequently!! Most importantly, let's simplify the D.
Jalen Hurts will have to win a Super Bowl in order to win MVP. At the very least, he will have to beat Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, even if it's in the regular season (next week).

we give you 20 to 20 and then we Tighten up and we have not had the same Secondary in the game this year ever game this year is different in the secondary. think about this we are coming off a super bowl loss which in it self is crazy. we have no Stability in the secondary none that's crazy jalen hurts is learning a new style of playing he is not your Typical pocket passer and still we win I have been a eagles fan for over 40 years and never even came close to seeing anything like this on any team so is this all luck I don't think so. Keyword, "sometimes". its about consistency not just blowing people out. The fact that we're 8-1 and have let below average teams throw between 300 to 400 yards shredding our secondary yet still winning speaks for itself. Our offense shouldn't have to be constantly answering back every other drive because our secondary can't contain and stop an opposing offense. Numbers don't lie, statistically our secondary is one of the worst in the league yet our D-line is one of the best. It's lopsided. That's fact not opinion. Dawkins loves this team and is a hall of fame safety which is rare for that position. If he has criticism about a defense people listen

all along the eagles’ 30 for 38 (~80% wins) stretch in the last 2 yrs the pundits kept saying the eagles’ winning can’t continue. the cowboys? 24 for 39 (60% wins) during the same span. the eagles may not be able to keep it up and win the superbowl. but here is what we know: the cowboys absolutely, positively will NOT win the superbowl. more importantly, the cowboys are a corporation, not a team. the eagles are a team of hometown heroes, always entertaining even in their losses and always in tune with their fans as family. what dallas doesn’t realize is that that enthusiasm and loyalty can’t be manufactured. it has to be grown.

I don't know what you were expecting from a 31.5 year old CB who hasn't played at a high level in years, but I hope it wasn't much.
Every time an opposing QB throws a pass, I wince. Its that same uneasiness you get when a kicker is going for a 50 plus yard field goal in the dying seconds. There is just no assurance that the pass is not going to be completed. The backfield is like a block of Swiss cheese, it's full of holes all the time. Dak picked us apart at will... there was nothing we could do to stop the pass and that's very scary.
TM is right, we are going to get burned major in one of these four games coming up if they don't find a solution and tighten up the coverage and stop the ease of opposing QB completions. KB needs to have a breakout game...but it's the other guys that need to get it together, there just seems to be no synergy or chemistry between them as a unit.

The Eagles defensive backfield seems confused by their own schemes. Make the coverage simpler and more aggressive.

The team is winning ugly because we have the most talent but our coordinators are being massively out-coached by guys who have been in the league a long time.
The same people saying dont worry we are winning are the same people who rocked with Gannon until KC showed us our holes. Even if we beat KC in regular season, dont expect to automatically complete that feat in playoffs. They are a different animal in the playoffs.
I am trusting my gut this year too. Regardless of the record something has to change. The Jets game is an example of what happens when we just don't have enough and not enough has gone our way. This team is too good to be playing like this. Something has to change.

I think a huge issue with this team is the lack of holding calls by the refs. I refuse to believe that our D line isnt drawing a hold for 50 snaps. Its some bs and a perfect way for the refs to keep the games close. That combined with the field issues is why we lost the fkn sb.

Desai doesn't seem to know what he's doing. Spagnolo is one of the best defensive coordinators of all time. Just like last year, our coaches are responsible for the losses, not the players. The players may not be as good as last year, but they're still the best squad in the NFL. We had by far the best squad last year, and we lost the SB because of Gannon. Most Eagles fans knew by game 4 last year, that Gannon didn't have what it took. The organization should have replaced him, but they didn't. The results were predictable. I shouod add that Hurts is better than he was laat year. He's the main reaaon our offense is winming games for us. Now we havd to go uo against the Chiefs without Goedert. I suspevt it's going to be a long night.

The Eagles Secondary has been questionable since the start of the 2022 Season. Against good quarterbacks they give up awful 3rd and 4th down passing conversions. They have to get it fixed or we’re going nowhere fast.
It just hit... MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, Desai is trying to be too smart with his defense. This isn't the first time that we've had a DC try to be too smart. How about we simply the defender again and let the talent show. That said, can we please run stunts with the D line more frequently!!

The way we are playing now…we literally are almost always 1 turnover away from giving the game away. We are giving up hella yards up to below average and average QBs, we make bums stars on opposing teams. Winning games by one score in a nail biter is comfortable for you??? That had to be the weirdest comment, we are putting Jalen in harms way, not running the ball right…we keep going away from what’s working and keeping teams in the game. We play so sloppy and uncontrolled. We are paying corners all this money to not cover… this will not phase well in the playoffs

The fact that we're 8-1 and have let below average teams throw between 300 to 400 yards shredding our secondary yet still winning speaks for itself. Our offense shouldn't have to be constantly answering back every other drive because our secondary can't contain and stop an opposing offense. Numbers don't lie, statistically our secondary is one of the worst in the league yet our D-line is one of the best. It's lopsided. That's fact not opinion. Dawkins loves this team and is a hall of fame safety which is rare for that position. If he has criticism about a defense people listen
