I've owned many cars and when I was younger I made a lot of visual modifications to the exteriors of my cars. I understand it's a lot of fun but the end result is rarely better than the original. At the end of the day I realized that people who design these cars are the best in the world. It's not a coincidence that they work for the top marques like Mercedes and Porsche and I don't. Their taste and "eye" is usually better than mine. When Bruno Sacco put certain kind of wheels to a R129 Mercedes SL in 1989 those designs were carefully thought out. I've never, ever seen aftermarket wheels on a SL that look better than the originals. People often think about "what wheels would look the best" on a 993. My opinion is THE ORIGINALS. The Club Sport wheels. They look right on that car. Those BBS wheels look amazing. But the Club Sports look even more amazing because they are the right wheels for the car. Just my two cents. Keep up the good work. Really enjoy the channel and especially the 993 content which is my favorite Porsche ever. And yes, it's best looking in light colors and polar silver does it for me.
I think the direction you go is driven by your goals with your channel. I’m not an expert, but I assume it you want to maximize your audience you do both air cooled and water cooled. If you want to follow your passion, stay with your air cooled. I’m driving a water cooled car, but having a air cooled car I still enjoy your channel. What comes through is your passion for cars and detailed content is great!
Thanks. My goal is to expand the audience and grow the channel. I enjoy meeting all owners and in fact interviewed a great guy today about his 997.2. Air cooled is where my heart is but I respect and enjoy all 911’s. It only makes sense to open to channel to appeal to more subsets of the community.
I love your 911 content, but I’d also love to see you extend your content to the 80’s front engine Porsches. They also had this special feel of the Porsches of the time, especially the 928. And with the air cooled Porsches becoming so expensive, a larger portion of people will consider the front engined ones, which were also beautifully engineered. Their price makes them a more reasonable first step into the classic Porsche world, potentially leading to a 911, or just developing a cult for themselves. The 928, on this regard, still seems incredibly underrated to me.
Great video. The fact you are not an expert and document your "mistakes" makes this so relatable. I think you should stick to the Porsches you love which are air-cooled.
A little late to the show here, but I agree. I like the 993, then the G. I feel like if you only have room for one, then go 993. I never really connected to the 964, as it always seemed like an in between model to me. Now I know a lot of guys are going to disagree with me and say 964 is where it's at, but I just feel like you can get everything and more in a 993 and still have a very connected, analog experience. The G is great in it's simplicity but a again if you have to choose, it's 993 all day for me. P.S. I'm also selling my 997 Turbo to fund a Beck 904 project with a 3.2 SS Clewett EFI/901 trans car that I will be a part of the next 4 years. I really miss the air-cooled stuff and I feel this car is just so different and raw, that I am going to thoroughly enjoy it!
I have owned 911's and am looking for a 964 but I have a huge soft spot for the transaxle cars, I currently own a 924S ,a 944S and a 928 but I love everything Porsche
Will, I love that 993. What a beautiful machine. As I said before I also have the same year, model, and color, all stock though. I am in love also with mine. You have inspired me to consider mods. Thank you for the vids and content, please keep them coming, be well.
I have a 1995 993 bought it in 2014, AC was blowing warm had it Charged 3 times only lasted a couple of years each time, Had it leak tested and found out it was the Evaporator, Massive repair job, remove Gas tank, fuel pump, Fuse box, firewall, glove box, radio AC Controls etc etc, 15 hours Labor $3100 Parts and Labor at a Independent Porsche Shop, If I brought it to a Porsche it would Cost $ 4500- $5000.
Thanks Will. If broader focus means adding 997, 991, 987,981,718 yes. But I am not as interested in expanding into Cayennes, Macans etc. I think broader still needs to be targeted. I think if you can add owner stories, similar to your own, who evolved from air to water and their feedback it would be interesting. Personally, I struggle to decide if I should sell my 964 to get into a 718 GTS 4.0. Would that be a monumental regret? I fear once you’re out, the 964 market moves so quickly that re-entry could get very expensive.
Have some owner interviews planned, actually. Meeting up with an owner tomorrow, believe it or not. 997.2 coupe. It’s been a little while since I published one but I do enjoy them.
Love your stuff and the niche you’ve found in air cooled. I’ve owned both water and air and there’s nothing like the feel of that chainsaw rev and sound at your back. There’s a reason why these cars fetch the figures they do.
I bought my first G series ('86 3.2) in 2003 for 14K... Ten years later bought my 2nd (SC 3.0) for 14k... Now if you can explain why 20 plus year-old cars held that same value for ten years then suddenly shot skyward in value, I'd appreciate it. Because in truth there's no reason except air cooled went viral.
i can't say what's the best road 911 (because to young at the time for a driverslicence) but for me for the "feel" of it the 993 CUP was the NPU of them the 996 mk 1 & 2 CUP where faster but more "muted"
I don’t think you could go wrong covering newer generation 911’s. The 996 is 20yrs old now and I’m sure plenty of people would tune in to hear about the good and the bad of owning those. People tune in because of your perspective and the details of your ownership experience that you give which I think would be of value with 996, 997, 991 and so on. Also, your aesthetic style and driving focused mods/content connect with a good portion of the community. Good luck and I’ll be watching.
Great vid once again 👌🏻 Go with your gut & what you’ll enjoy. If you’re enthusiastic about the content it will translate to your viewers. I’d personally love to see you expand to other Porsches (you can still keep it Air Cooled centric).
I like your channel Will and I wouldn't mind other Porsche models on it and not only air-cooled. I am a huge fan of air-cooled but a bit of variety wouldn't be bad.
I have a dilemma, I have a 991.2 C2 but feel I want a 86-87 G body. I currently lack time and a mechanic to buy a project. May I ask your opinions? Do you feel paying $90-100K plus for a sorted (if in your opinion that is the price for sorted) G body makes sense or will I miss out on the journey/bonding by paying less, finding a mechanic and having it sorted out myself?
For the channel I would love it for you to keep the majority of focus to air cooled cars. I also miss seeing you highlight other peoples cars. If you sprinkle in a special water cooled car from time to time I think that would be ok as well, but my vote would be mostly air cooled content.
Hi Will - I enjoy what you’re doing with the channel. I own an air cooled (and perhaps will soon own a second - an opportunity has presented itself to purchase a wonderfully resto-modded 914 with a 3.2), but I don’t consider myself a specifically air cooled guy. (I bought my son a 2000 Boxster when an excellent opportunity arose). Certainly, I see myself as a Porsche guy who happens to own a 964. There is a lot of buzz in the Porsche community relating to air cooled vs water cooled; with the air cooled folks often looking down on water cooled cars. I see very little meaningful discussion of what the differences in the driving experiences are. I’d be interested in that and in what differences there are, if any, between the types of folks & their car community groups who choose one vs the other.
Less is more. I would stick to air cooled. It is a USP for your channel. I'd love to own a 997.2 at some point so also into w cooled, but focus is good.
Even better than 914-6 would be 914s that have been modified with a 911 engine - 3.0, 3.2 or 3.6. I’ve driven a 914 with a built 3.2 - the driving experience and power / weight are off the charts.
I'm torn with this question. I like all Porsches, BUT the air cooled cars are so unique and there are so many quirks with them. I find them way more interesting. So I say stick to air-cooled cars.
There’s a huge amount of water-cooled stuff out there and I fear that if you try to get into that you might lose the real focus of your channel and it’s unique appeal
I think the core base is air cooled but where I’m going is including more footage and owner stories about water cooled cars. I have no plans to buy a water cooled car so much of my content would remain air cooled given that the foundation of the channel is my ownership experience.
I don’t know if I totally agree with you, man….my 993 is way better today than when it came from the factory from a driving perspective. 8 or so mods (suspension, front strut brace, M030 sways, fister SSK and golden rod, RS wheel, Steve Wong chip) have made this car hyper responsive and insanely balanced.
Absolutely! Open the channel up to all Porsche models. Some Cayman content would be a welcome sight.
I've owned many cars and when I was younger I made a lot of visual modifications to the exteriors of my cars.
I understand it's a lot of fun but the end result is rarely better than the original.

Great channel!! In my humble opinion all Porsche are great, 356, 901, 911, 356, 914, 924, 944. It´s about the passion.
I think the Porsche emblem on the sides looked pretty damn good and tasteful with those wheels and blue calipers.
Thanks for the shout out and thoughtful response!
And on watercooled, I’d be interested to see you compare aircooled with GT cars in terms rawness and driver involvement/enjoyment. Thank you!
Aircooled only, but compare from time to time with watercooled as reference.
Probably nice to do a few water cooled videos in a while. Maybe comparisons, pro's/con's.
Great video. The fact you are not an expert and document your "mistakes" makes this so relatable. I think you should stick to the Porsches you love which are air-cooled.
I'd like to see water cooled 911s on occasion. But the 911 is why I watch.
A little late to the show here, but I agree. I like the 993, then the G. I feel like if you only have room for one, then go 993. plenty of channels regarding water-cooled, but you could do feature episodes!
Aircooled only - "do one thing REALLY well."
Thanks for all your info I’m still driving. My 991.2 . You always are making me look around for a air cooled. I even rode to Sonderwerks….👍
Haha plenty of air cooled Porsches to see there
Still doing research and haven't pulled the trigger on a Porsche just yet. Would like a mix of both as enjoy your POV.
All Porsche Cars including the latest, but the most focus on air cooled.

993 for me as well 🇺🇸👍

What is your thought on upgrading the 993 head lights to BiXinon lights?
Stay with the air-cooled, I have both an air-cooled and a water pumper and I think you can do a lot more interesting content on air than water.
Great vid once again 👌🏻 Go with your gut & what you’ll enjoy. If you’re enthusiastic about the content it will translate to your viewers. I’d personally love to see you expand to other Porsches (you can still keep it Air Cooled centric).
Last question was classic, 😂😂😂
Really important, deeply existential
I like your channel Will and I wouldn't mind other Porsche models on it and not only air-cooled. I am a huge fan of air-cooled but a bit of variety wouldn't be bad.
Another great video. Thanks for indirectly addressing my question of “other Porsches” with poll. I think the ppl have spoken…
I am meeting with the owner of a 997.2 tomorrow to do an interview. Should be good.
Include all Porsche's
I have a dilemma, I have a 991.2 C2 but feel I want a 86-87 G body. I currently lack time and a mechanic to buy a project. May I ask your opinions? Those wheels are beautiful
Another great video with amazing content. I’m so glad we finally learned the secret to your amazing hair 😀
Less is more. I would stick to air cooled. It is a USP for your channel. I'd love to own a 997.2 at some point so also into w cooled, but focus is good.
I think some content on the 914-6 would be interesting along with some outlaw 356's and even an outlaw 912.
Even better than 914-6 would be 914s that have been modified with a 911 engine - 3.0, 3.2 or 3.6. I’ve driven a 914 with a built 3.2 - the driving experience and power / weight are off the charts.

Congrats! th-cam.com/video/UIZbqGzrhiA/w-d-xo.html
I'm torn with this question. I like all Porsches, BUT the air cooled cars are so unique and there are so many quirks with them. I find them way more interesting. So I say stick to air-cooled cars.
Great vid as always Will!
Thank you sir. This one was a little different but ended up being fun.
@@Rennthusiast I really liked the insights in this one mate.
Thank you. Really appreciate that and glad you enjoyed.
Aircooled only
Air-cooled only! My $.02.
Great content.
Better to stick to the air cooled. Maybe a new channel for the others.
Stay with air cooled! Way more character and more interesting.
Air cooled!
I think the question has to be why haven’t you fixed the AC in the 993?
Did you think you could just roll down the windows and be air cooled?
I Hope it's not the Evaporator Massive Work 15 Hours .
I say, stick to the air cooled. Keep it pure and simple.
Stay with air cooled.
There’s a huge amount of water-cooled stuff out there and I fear that if you try to get into that you might lose the real focus of your channel and it’s unique appeal

Porsche built water-cooled cars? Hmm. Does anyone care?
Hahahahaha love that!
Forget the hair stuff .
I’ll give it some thought. Maybe make a pros and cons list or hire a consultant. Thanks!
@@Rennthusiast stick to air cooled ,not hair cooled.
Too much talk...
