Kroger hires folks in the neighborhood and that's where you get the bad service from, the employees don't care,the neighbors are pilfering the place into non-existence, just like all the Walmarts closing. 🤷
Kroger has a large building to maintain, to heat, to cool, and to clean. It takes people who cost money. It takes a system to replenish shelves, to rotate stock, and to meet health standards. If Kroger cannot make money, why would they want to stay open?

My husband works at a Kroger and he says that stealing is so prevalent that he doesn't even look anymore, he just does his job and ignores everything else.

Smh When I was growing up in Atlanta, Kroger's stayed open 24 hours a day, 7 day's a week.
Only Closed 1 day that was on Christmas for 24 hours.
People born in the Late 80s, 90s, especially and early 2000s.
Are the main reasons Kroger's and walmart, close so early now.
