My brother has a full head of hair and he's older. I'd been losing mine in my 20s but opted for hair transplant (hair plugs). I had been pretty good at disguising my loss and never told anyone about it or my operation. My brother now gripes to me about how he's losing hair around the temple, which I don't see at all. Meanwhile I think I'd be looking like Doug right now if I didn't do something about it.

I have a theory that wearing hats causes baldness - all my brothers are bald since they hit 18 or are currently balding - and i have never worn a hat still have most of my hair at 33.
i think it's just like nature vs nurture, probably a bit of both. it could be a predisposition thing, where if you don't do certain things you'll keep it but some are definitely going to lose it. as a species we lost the majority of our body hair already, no reason to assume our head and the rest wont keep receding especially since environment is less of a factor for our survival more and more.

I was a barber for in Massachusetts for 12+ years (covid made me change jobs) I have had this talk thousands of times, not exaggerating. 70% of men by the time they are 30 years old will have thinning or balding hair. This video proves that men still think balding is something awful or something we have control of. Doug, you had a 70/30 split to keep that hair, that's a difficult number to beat and most of us won't (myself included) First thing you have to admit is that your hair has changed which sounds like you have. Now you either need to keep it short (don't grow it to try to make up for the loss that looks awful). You can get plugs like you said but they are expensive. Silver lining is they are WAAAAAY better now than they were only a few years ago. Buzz cuts from a barber are usually about 20 bucks a month if you keep up with it. So it just depends if that huge expense is worth the fact that you don't enjoying being part of the 70% of men that deal with this issue. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk about balding. In my professional opinion, you have enough hair loss that if you sat in my chair for a haircut I would encourage you to keep it very short and try to get you to do a buzzcut or fade. As someone With Alopecia Universalis who became full body Bald at 15, not only would I say you are BaldING, as you mentioned if you are really self concious about that in between stage between having hair and not, I HIGHLY reccommend shaving, as it really helps cut down on the self conciousness and helps transition you into getting used to being bald.

As someone who's been bald since I was 18 (I'm 43, almost 44), I say F it. Just get jacked. Sorry, but hair is more of a pain than anything. No dandruff, no haircuts needed, no whatever BS maintenance. (All you need is your normal shaving razor and a few minutes more). If you feel insecure enough to need to pay for whatever Elon did to his head, well, you got issues IMO. Embrace the bald. Fortune favours us. The bold? No, I said the bald. Bald is beautiful. There are pharmaceutical options too, minoxidil to induce growth, bimatoprost for thickness - topical daily application. Takes about 4-6 months to kick in, once you are happy with how it looks you can start taking finasteride orally to sustain.

As a balding man I advocate hats. You can change to fit the situation and with hair around the sides back it looks like you still have a full head of it.
Theres a procedure where a doctor will take donor hairs from the back of your head where the growth is still strong and then transplant it to the front of your head where its... desired to be. It doesnt come from your ass or anything. It takes a few weeks for your scalp to heal from it and theres a lot of swelling but it can be done. Lot of people actually go to turkey for it where the procedure is cheaper. You can also see a doctor about medical treatments that will help you keep and maintain the hair you still have. Theres a service online called keeps that I think Americans can look into. Not sure about the rest of the world. Just be warned that any medication you take is bound to have side effects. Im not a doctor, always research what someone prescribes you so you know what youre getting into. Others accept it, some wear wigs, others hats, beanies, etc. Just know that you dont have to lose your hair or acceptmthe situation if you dont want to.
Toupees have come a long way. Indistinguishable and are usually real hair so easily cleaned and maintained. Seen a lot of more recent videos where I’m awestruck at how natural it looks.

Theres a procedure where a doctor will take donor hairs from the back of your head where the growth is still strong and then transplant it to the front of your head where its... desired to be. It doesnt come from your ass or anything. It takes a few weeks for your scalp to heal from it and theres a lot of swelling but it can be done. Lot of people actually go to turkey for it where the procedure is cheaper.
You can also see a doctor about medical treatments that will help you keep and maintain the hair you still have. Theres a service online called keeps that I think Americans can look into. Not sure about the rest of the world. Just be warned that any medication you take is bound to have side effects. Im not a doctor, always research what someone prescribes you so you know what youre getting into.
Others accept it, some wear wigs, others hats, beanies, etc. Just know that you dont have to lose your hair or acceptmthe situation if you dont want to.
Toupees have come a long way. Indistinguishable and are usually real hair so easily cleaned and maintained. Seen a lot of more recent videos where I’m awestruck at how natural it looks.
