Beautiful design! Your specialty is nordic style design, no doubt about it. Clean, functional and esthetic. I like the cracks left open. Adds character. Also the videography is lovely to watch. One request though: please mention in the title what the project is. When I decide whether to spend 15 mins watching a specific video, it matters what the end result is. There are so many "surprising end result" videos in TH-cam that nothing is a surprise. 😅 Of course you might see it otherwise. I'm guessing you are finnish, what part of the country are you from? Most likely I've bought my lathe from the same dealer and watching you (someone "nordic") turning with a Record lathe caught my attention in the beginning. ❤
Hi MelkeinMaalla 😀 Thank you for watching and commenting! I’m glad you like my style, and as for the tittles and thumbails I could not agree more. I’m trying to balance between a informative title/picture that still sparks curiociy. I don’t always get it right 😆 The record lathe is awesome 👍 Check out my avocado video. I made some visual alterations the to lathe, see if you can spot them 😎
Oh hell yeah. I can’t wait. I love the beauty of wood. I would give almost anything for a wood working space and ALL 😬😛 the super cool tools that are out there. Thank you for sharing
I’m curious what finish you applied. For such a kitchen tool, whatever finish is applied will wear away on the inside during use. While there are several food safe finishing oils, varnishes and polys will become part of whatever is ground and eaten. What finish did you use?
Hi 😃 On this one I used a food safe oil from Mylands, think it’s a sort of danish. It’s dried up completely now and the surfice is quite hard so I think it should be fine. But I’m sure you’re right, some of it will rub off and be consumed 😬
Olive ix always a beautiful wood. I would have been tempted to cut in 2 pieces 1/2 or 2/3 and cut an extra bowl/tray from the 2nd rather than waste so much
Thank you for the commenting 👍 You could have a point there. I wasn’t sure how all the cracks would play out so I startet out big and worked my way to this. I have a few more pieces of olive also. It’s just the most beautiful wood right? 🤩
Turning olive is on my bucket list. 😛
Yeah it was really something 😃 I still have some logs left. Exited to see what hides within 👍
Oh great! I wasn’t going to, now I HAVE to!! Great look pieces!!!
😆👍
Very nice. A bow tie in the crack would look ace!!

Hi. Great work. What oil are you treating the finished wood with to get that shine? Thanks
Great job. The olive wood is so unique and lovely adding definite value to this piece. Is it to be used as a mortar and pestle?
Yes I’ll use this as a mortar and pestle 👍 I agree, the wood is really nice, I’ll try to get some more for sure 😆

Great Job!! what type of wood did you use for the Pestle?
Thank you 🤩 I used walnut for the pestle, one of my favorites 👍
Thanks 👍
Beautiful job where did you find the wood? I’d like order some.
Thank you 🙌 the wood is from a friend in Greece who has an olive farm. Directly from the source 🪵
Lovely piece(s)! What finish did you use?
Thank you 😃 I used foodsafe danish oil. Not sure it’s the best one for the job but It’s all i have 🤷
Nice! But a little dismayed you did not fill the cracks with a contrasting wood...
You’re right, I rushed it and missed a good opportunity to try something with those cracks 😬 Next time 👍 thank you for watching and commenting 🙌
