I dont know if you could say we're not in a losing culture any more.
Sure, we've made the playoffs, but we've yet to win a division, we've yet to win a playoff series. Last year we didnt even make the playoffs.
I think if you wan't to say a team has dug itself out of a losing culture, they need to have "won" more than just regular season games and more than 3 playoff games, if they make it to the playoffs
I've seen the leafs win a 1st round matchup many times in my life. I've seen them win a division. I've seen them make it to 4 conference finals. To me, the leafs are still struggling to get out of a culture of losing. They're close, but they're not there yet

If you are going to tank, you need to tank with players that aren't going to be with the team long, giving you the opportunity to bring in young players as well as going out and getting leaders with winning records. But you still need a good coaching staff with a good system to bring the team together and train the younger players. It should all be a part of the plan, and I don't think Buffalo had that part of the plan in place.

I really have no opinion about the Sabres; never really liked or disliked them. But you're right, from a non-Buffalo fan's perspective, it's actually sad to see how much this team has given up on itself. And the ownership and management is doing nothing to right the ship. I assume it's because they've made many futile moves in the recent past and things are still terrible. I can picture them shrugging their shoulders and saying "I'm out of ideas". Sad.
My Sharks are bad and declining, but I've seen them ice good teams for most of the last 2 decades. I'm anticipating a return to respectability SOMEDAY, though we're saddled with bloated contracts and there's some, but not a lot of, young talent coming up. But I really can't imagine 10 years of being as bad as the Sabres have been. I'm glad passionate fans like you are upset and speaking out. Because you don't deserve this from your team.

I have always had a soft spot for the great, loyal, fanbases that have never known the joy (Vancouver, Minnesota, Winnipeg, etc.)
However this young woman really has me wanting some mercy for the Buffalo fan. She expresses the frustrations of the long suffering fan so eloquently, and with great knowledge of the sport and her team.
And you know this is multiplied a million fold all around Buffalo. More than that - She speaks for fed up fans from Hamilton to Syracuse and beyond.
Fans that were already fed up years ago. Yet they truge on like zombies dutifully supporting their team. (I've experienced some of this as a fan of teams in other sports. Hockey was never this bad for me.)
Before '19 my team, the Blues, had been the poster child for playoff disappointment. Great hopes dashed every post season.
Honestly its what we were known most for around the league. What other fans would chide us for. Damn though, at least we were in the Playoffs (all but 9 seasons in our long history). At least we could be happy and hopeful from October to mid-April. Watching some good hockey before the inevitable collapse.
Buffalo fans have seen their team miss the playoffs 9 times in.... well, the last 9 years. Nearly nothing to take joy in. Yet they stand by their team!!!

I appreciate your emotion and understand why Buffalo fans are fed up. The problem starts with ownership and the GM. Too many professional teams rely on former NHL players to coach or manage teams. The problem with that is that a former player had a career as a player and has limited exposure to the business side of hockey. Those former players often only use the eye test instead of statistical information readily available if they just used it. Buffalo needs to take drastic steps to get out of a hole that has been created through terrible mismanagement of talent and finances. Buffalo ownership should never award a multi year contract to a GM or coach until they exhibit they deserve one. The problem is most hockey guys won't work like that. The truth is most jobs do not offer long term contracts. You do a good job today and you can keep it until tomorrow. Keep the pressure on!

The one problem is the coach, yes. But the biggest problem is your owner. This is the guy who put Pat Lafontaine in charge; then in a short period of time accepted/allowed GM Murray to dismantle the chain of command and basically be the decision maker over LaFontaine. Who again is LaFontaine and what credentials does he have? Sabres fans know. The best recent day of the Sabres hopes and last time I saw a fire light up again was when LaFontaine and Teddy Nolan were back where they belonged with the Sabres and Steve Ott was Captain. What happens now? The ship has sailed with LaFontaine and Nolan I'm sure. Perhaps Steve Ott returns to Buffalo as a coach and get's his first head coaching job. Bottom line: this team has been a mess for years because the owner/Pegula family are the ones who keep screwing it up by making poor management decisions. The owners need to go.

I should probably also add that when you look at the more recent draft years (last 4 drafts) one of the problems I see is that during a time when the Sabres are still in a rebuilding/stock the prospect pool mode they actually didn't have at least 7 draft picks per draft. They were in between 5 to 6 picks per draft in the last 4 drafts (they drafted a total of 23 players in those draft years when if they had all of their picks they could have drafted 28 players).
This is another indicator that the future of the Sabres may be a problem given the importance of the draft to teams mid to long term success in a hard cap era.

I’m not a Sabres fan (I’m an Islanders fan) but I appreciate your passion. I don’t come here to gloat as my Islanders were in the same boat that the Sabres are in now for many many years. I totally get the frustration and anger. While I won’t say I’m rooting for you guys (I’m an Islanders fan after all lol) keep the faith and hang in there with your team. When they go back to winning it will feel that much sweeter. Again kudos with your passion and fandom 👍🏻

Bills will never get past KC. Allen will never be able to compete with Mahomes. They have 1 good year and everyone thinks they are going to be around for 10 years. KC yes. Buffalo Bills. Good luck.

And, the Bills not getting passed Kc, probably a butthurt Cowboys fan, or maybe a Texans fan?
Bills had the number 4 ranked offense last year, that was mainly from the passing game. Point being, this a passing league, and the Bills are built to pass the ball. Why, Josh Allen, who had a better year statically than Mahomes, throwing it. Btw, it was Josh Allen's first ever Afc conference game, where as Mahomes, it was his third or fourth in a row... So, yeah KC was going to win regardless of it being in Buffalo or not, they had way more experience.... But, here's the thing, the LOLphins, Yets, and Cheatroits aren't going to de-thrown the Bills next, year, or the year after that, because the Bills, believe or not are the class of the AFC East. Furthermore, Buffalo is going to be a attractive place for free agents this off season, especially coming close to the Superbowl, that are looking to join a SUPERBOWL CONTENDER...

We have seen 2 years of hilarious cry baby Josh Allen in the playoffs. The Bills will never learn that they need to just run the ball. If they would have had a solid running game this year. They wouldn’t have been demolished by KC. Because KC did just that. They destroyed them.
Allen will never, ever get to Mahomes level or anywhere near it. Good night.

As a lifetime islanders fan who was born way after the dynasty years I empathize with you. For years screaming to get help for tavares because there's no way hockey coaches could have that much impact, it's gotta be the players. Then the isles were the worst defensive team over the course of two seasons. Then they lose their superstar center and replace him with a couple of role players and an apparently bust goalie. We get trotz and go from the worst defensive team to the best in his first season with arguably less talent.all these players who seemed that they weren't good enough all of a sudden look great. Adam pelech looked like a career 7th defenseman is now a top two shut down defender. Lehner looked done, the isles get the caps goalie coach and he plays elite...greiss looked done and was made into a 1b goalie....then varlamov who looked washed up comes and is now an elite starter. Coaching can mean so much more than I ever could've known....and I've played ice hockey my whole life and still didn't realize it. Elite coaching can get every ounce of talent out of his team....awful coaching can destroy careers. Buffalo has a very decent amount of talent....honestly in a regular 82 game season with the usual divisions I could see them snagging the 8th spot possibly the 7 spot and giving their opponent a tough series. They have a could be great top pair defense and elite high end scoring.....I feel your pain....but we're hockey fans so you know we'll be here regardless. Also, I never really follow the sabres, just cause they're not a rival to the isles usually in different divisions, so they usually aren't on my radar, but I enjoy your videos so much I don't even care which team it is lol....you've actually got me kind of pulling for them now to get going....except when they play the islanders lol
