Old video but man, the only one I could find that totally explains editing from ground zero. Everything else says it’s for beginners, but then they just start talking about cutting clips out and how to do it… never explaining what a timeline actually is, for example. This is great, thank you!

This is perfect! I had found another tutorial and he went so fast and wasn't explaining what each item was and I tried so hard to follow but I was lost! With this, I just spent 1.5 hours following along and editing my very first video! While it's not professional, it looks a lot better than anything I would have uploaded by myself! This is the best beginner Tutorial I've seen yet. Great pacing. All the information you need to get going. Most others I've seen are either so slow, that you can't get yourself to watch through it or too short so you leave still not knowing anything.

update. downloading Davinci and said my drivers aren't updated enough on 18.5 can i download an older version to work. seems like my only option was the newest version. tried downloading different drivers didn't seem to work
Total beginner here......... Davinci free version has been a great tool for getting started sharing my drone videos. Lots of great tutorials and an ongoing learning experience.

I have watched a gazillion that say " editing for beginners from start to finish" and they ALL act and talk as tho a beginner knows most of the things they are not going over lol...so dang confusing.. so thank you for breaking it ALL down for some of us newbies... 👍ps. Gotta say, I started the official Resolve training videos and was bored almost instantly - 20 minutes spent on meta tags! This is practical, useful, and focused on getting me editing fast :) Thank you.
You taught me more in one 1/2 hour video than I've gotten in ten or so other videos the same length or even longer! 😎 How to use the I and the O; as a shortcut; so you don't have to drag the entire clip into the timeline is something that I was wondering about in Videopad. I don't have the video memory power on my present laptop; but you better believe once I get one with all the right specs... I'm switching over to this DaVinci Resolve! So I watched this video because I feel like I have no idea what I'm doing. Im using filmora and am doing a lot of this self taught but you've actually given me a lot of reassurance that I'm moving in the right direction. My videos are not perfect by any means but I actually feel pretty confident I can refine what I've been doing and make my creations better. Great video homie.
I've been trying to learn editing just as a hobby but never got such a good introduction. You explained everything covered in the video very nicely. For that I gave you a Sub.
I have tried as kind of mission to make you tube videos from a smartphone. I have access to a great computer microphone etc. But I was fascinated by the simplicity of doing it on a phone...the software I used was pretty good, I used KineMaster. So after watching your tutorial I think I can begin to make much higher quality productions and the best part is the computer simply has more capacity to store the clips , finished product etc. Thanks

One thing that has saved me A LOT of time making my own videos, is to do several takes of something in the SAME video. Now that I know a little more about how video editing works courtesy of your video, here, Casey, I can use this strategy to much more avail. I USED to take multiple videos because I would mess up, or couldn't think of what to say next. This allows me to use the Extravert's strategy of just adlibbing a bunch of things in a row until I hit upon what I want to say. This is what a lot of people do in normal conversation. And I can't see why it wouldn't work in the case of making TH-cam videos, as well. Peace Love and Light, ~ Dave M. ~
