I have the filter and lights connected to a Smart plug and have a schedule so filter turns off for 5 minutes when the feeder drops pellets. Also I turn on tank lights at feed so they can catch the feed pattern. Thanks for the video.
I bought this feeder in May 2019, it is by far the best Auto-Feeder I’ve ever had. With a Four Times Daily, One Rotation each, the Battery Charge last Four Months. It is on a 65 Gallon Rimless Reef Tank. The Aquarium has a Glass Top, the clip base comes off, and it is Velcroed to the Plastic Back-strip. I had a problem with it dumping some of the food outside the tank. I bent two pieces of back-strip, with a Hair Dryer, to solve this. It had a tendency to sag, I made a Velcro Strap, to level it out. He shows the wrong way to fill it, you can fill it by sliding the larger door open. A couple of tips, secure the feed rate door, with blue masking tape. Mix Pellet Food with Flake Food, for a more even feed.
That's not how you're supposed to open it to load it. It's actually even easier than that and you can load in more food without removing it. The door around the feeder slot slides out. It can be a little sticky at first but it do! Great video thanks!
This is a DIY I would LOVE to do in my home. Seriously. I had an automatic feeder form my chickens. Automation is the way to go--any routine tasks we can simplify are a win!
Pick up a magnetic feeding ring from Two Little Fishies. Keeps the food in one place until it starts to sink. You could eliminate that plexiglass altogether.
Hey! Thanks for the vid! How long is the longest youve left home with this on? Ill need to travel for about 5-6 weeks and a sitter isnt an option, but im concerned about my dry pellets becoming spoilt as i live in a humid city+ the tank moisture. A friend should drop in once for a quick water change but that's about it so I'm trying to find a reliable product
