Thanks for your vid! I have balloon molly fry and normal molly fry and I went on vacation for a week. I did what u said and I came back to them really healthy!
We just toss a zucchini in the tanks before we leave and they eat it over the course of the week....been doing this for about 30 years works awesome....cheap and easy and doesn’t mess up the tank....👍
@@nickaatl8172 Wouldn’t necessarily count on it lasting for 30 days it would probably start to rot after about a week or so if they didn’t finish it 30 days is a long time we would recommend getting some Sort of automatic feeder for something to last a month like that
Some very good tips for people who are on the fence about what to do to when preparing for a vacation. This is definitely worth an ounce of prevention. 😁
Usually I have a person that can feed my fish while I'm gone but this time there isnt anybody so I think a auto feeder might be my only option since I'm going to be away for two weeks. I'll look at reviews for different feeders that can feed once a day for a few weeks.
Never had any luck with auto feeders. We have house sitter and they watch our dogs so I put food in little plastic cups all measured out for each tank sitting next to tanks and the portions is smaller
@@ettienneesterhuizen1291 it turns out those 2 goldfish actually survived i was so glad but we made it so they eat once a day and take out all decorations
My grandson has 1 goldfish in a 10 gallon tank.we are going to be gone for 8 days. Do you recommend an automatic feeder? If so which kind is reliable and easy to use? Or can I not feed it for that amount of time? The fish is 1 year old and gets fed twice a day and is very healthy. Thanks for the video
I would recommend leaving it without food. If you are overly concerned, you could put a small amount of chopped or blanched spinach in the tank. It will nibble on it for a couple of days. If it were my goldfish, I would leave them unfed for 8 days.
I've got the 1% of fish that need feeding frozen food twice a day. Seahorses. They're pretty but can be a pain in the you know what. My husband feeds my fish while I'm away. Thanks Zenzo.
So I have a fish tank in my dorm, and lets say I go back to my house evry weekend (so for 2 days). I can just leave the fish tabk? I have a betta and couple of neon tetras.
😎⛈Sunshine in Hawaii while on your vacation? Hope you'll get more sunshine than rain. It's been raining & quite humid in Hawaii this week. Enjoy your vacation & mahalo for this video.🤷♂️☔🌺
@@TazawaTanks 🌺Oh gee, aren't you lucky! If you were on the island of Kauai or Oahu, you'd have the thunder storms. Hope you'll keep on enjoying the sunshine on the Big Island! 🌴😎☀️
Efrain's Cichlids If they are all big, it’s probably okay to leave them in the tank without food. If your worried about aggression, I’d put an auto feeder on the tank, and only drop a small amount of food each day. You can also lower the temperature by a couple of degrees. I'm be going on vacation in July....my siblings will be feeding all my fishes....putting certain amounts in small medicine bags, for each day........what about the mudskippers..don't they eat live food? Just wondering...
I'm leaving on vacation for 8 days. I have 14 tanks. I'm going to put pill boxes near each tank with the amount and mix for each day. For my son to feed them. I also will have sticky notes on each one that's needs worms, frozen ect. Ive been training him. Who knew leaving was going to make me worry so much. But my husband said I have to vacation with him. I cant stay home😒😕🤣
Pet sitter to maybe feed some tanks 2-3 times while I’m away. No more than that because of water changes. I’d probably also throw in a bunch of floating plants to help reduce nitrates.
are you sure my fish will be ok for 7 days? My fish is healing from very severe fin rot and he is making a slow recovery, it always makes me nervous to leave him alone and i just want to confirm him being ok alone. I think it will be more like 5 days of fasting because i can feed him right before i leave and right after i get back.
Same here I'm stressing over my tanks. I have to re treat my 40 gal wide goldfish tank for cotton fungus and last thing I want to do is leave them and come back and they died from an ammonia spike or something. My other two tanks scare me too.
I would see about hiring someone to come 2-3 times per week to feed. Depending on your setup, you may also need a water change. If you have time and the resources, you can look to create an automated system of water changes and feeding.
Ironically, I’m wearing the same shirt in this video. Also very useful if your going on vacation: th-cam.com/video/NIAvjn1A6fs/w-d-xo.html

I do the same thing for some of my tanks with herbivores. Great tip!
Can I use for a glo fish tetra, what type of zucchini, how ?
Can I use the zucchini for goldfish for 30 days?
Most likely, yes. If they eat it now I am assuming.

Did you find a good one?
@@maddiehein1824 Nah. I ended up not needing it and sadly my fish died recently so I won’t need one for a while.
Nicely timed video my friend. I'm sure many people will find this useful.

They can be tricky for sure
Will my widow tetra survive if I leave them unfed for 5 days?
I'm going away for a month, we have a automatic food feeder but we don't know what to do with changing the water.
So what did you do , because I have the same problem
@@ettienneesterhuizen1291 it turns out those 2 goldfish actually survived i was so glad but we made it so they eat once a day and take out all decorations
What automatic feeder did you use?
That discus tank is gorgeous
I have a little Glo fish Tetra, he's all alone, I'm going on vacation 5 days, so it will be ok not to feed him. I don't need to use a auto feeder ?
You will be fine leaving him unfed for 5 days. You can give him a little extra for 2-3 days before leaving so that he's well fed.
I am going to Arizona so this was great
There is a gap in the market for a fish food timer to feed nano fish, all i can seem to find would totally over feed.
hey :) i have 10 very active mollies who i usually feed 1-2 times a day, should they be fine without food for 5 days? thanks!

Feeding your tanks is like a whole job/tour! You have so many of them! lol
how about the lighting?
All of my lights are on timers. I can also control them from an app on my phone.
I just wondering is it the same for
The mudskippers? Thanks !!!
I made sure they were well fed before I left. The Indians are getting a treat while I am gone, as they are on the feeding schedule.
Or can I use one of those 2 week blocks of food?

I have 2 gold fish and I’m going on vacation for 3 days..... so do I need an auto feeder?, because I’m leaving tomorrow
No. I’m going on vacation on Monday for a week and I am leaving my fish without an auto feeder. Your goldfish will be fine.

Great video. I concur with everything
Thank you for getting back to me. So you don't recommend those 7 day food blocks? Our gold fish is very spoiled and loves to eat.😂
No, I don't think you will need to use one of those food blocks for a goldfish.
Yeah thats the video(s), in which I like the most, I have several different fish feeders in which are on an automatic timer from the outlets.....😎😎😎

How about keeping live shrimps as feeder for the entirety of my vacation

7 days for a healthy fish is fine. Not sure if your fish is ill and recovering though.
Also if one fish passes from hunter well your other fish will most likely eat it 😅

Yes, or ask someone to feed them once or twice while you are gone.
