Common Ground-Dove

Only 5 inches in length, these little doves are sometimes mistaken for sparrows at a distance. They live on the southern edges of the US, from California to Florida, and into northern Mexico. They eat seeds in the tall grass and are rarely spotted until they burst into flight in front of you.
Pretty pink eyes and legs, the wings are chestnut colored underneath.
