Instalation is easy and the only semi specialist tool you will need is a Torx T50 tool. A cone Drill with a 12mm step will make things even neater and quicker.

    Gr8 👌.
I love subtle work. After all, XK8 /R having all the good genes from E-Type has a "Perfect" body and curve with absolutely no need to make an external noticeable change.

Get your list in to Santa real quick Steve. Apparently my wife has his address as I just tell her what I want, and he writes back if its too expensive or too Stoooopid🤣

Thanks John! I did buy a different version but installed the same, needed to install slightly differently to avoid a issue with the rear view mirror, also mine had push plugs so no need to remove the cover. I installed with a bit of epoxy.

Thanks for letting us know John. Are you pleased with the version that you got ?

Fully agree you don't really need it in an XK8. My first mod was taking it out, for the looks and the convenience of free access to the rear 'seats'

Hi Papakee3. Hope you are well my friend. Yes when compared with most GT convertibles of the era the roof off experience is already very refined. I took a ridden a 90's Mercedes SL convertible and was surprised how much buffeting there was. (But not as surprised as by the lack of quality in the convertible hood itself)
The deflector does make an appreciable difference though and it mattered to me as when I use her it tends to be for 200 plus mile high speed journeys.
All a bit of a mute point until the weather improves so I can take my TTG beanie off though🤣

Must be a decent video John as I’ve just watched it through despite my car being a coupe! Incidentally, it’s a very similar product to the BMW coupe/convertible except that one folds in the middle so that it goes in a bag that’s only 1/4 of the size when not in use. Anyway, my takeaway from this is chalk pens and step drills. Have a great festive season mate and hope 2022 is a better year 🤞

Thanks Gerard. I KNOW! that 2022 will be better. Let us hope the wider health situation in the UK is good enough that we can set aside some time for more gatherings and meet ups with our fellow TTG mates.
      Finest regards. John

Excellent demonstration here with dimensions making it less daunting, along with this video. I think that deflector’s quality is excellent.
Where did you learn to remove these trim pieces? Was it trial and error or manuals and forums etc? I know from experience that valuable trim is often broken when trying to remove it and unfortunately, garages are largely responsible for this, and actually leaving trim off! I was driving my car yesterday, top down, and noticed that my hood liner was flapping around like crazy. I pulled over and put my tonneau on. This material becomes delicate over time the years.

Thanks John, super helpful! I have one of these I need to install and have been wondering how to try out different height/tilt positions by myself before drilling.

Glad it was helpful! Editing is a wonderful thing... Prior to filming this I had experimented with assorted cardboard boxes on the back seat proping it up, to weird string suspension arrangements 😁. And then I had my light bulb moment. or more acurately my Doh!😔 moment when I realised just moving the seats would do the best job.👍

hI John, thanks for your videos, I am learning a lot about my car thanks to you. I have just notices that I have the installation of an Adamesh but not the correct wind deflector ... Do you know by any chance, the part number of the rear speaker covers, I cant find it anywhere. Thanks

Great video, I bought one based on the simplicity, and it was. However, if you are tall like me you will need to set the screen further back than the video, or the seat will be inhibited by screen.

John, based on your video I have purchased a similar windscreen and will also consider placement based on rear view mirror visual access. Hoping the sight line when driving and looking in the rear view mirror is not obstructed. Keep up all the great episodes!

17:16 Excellent info as my top lift up pully or wire must be derailed/broken and now the back half glass in the passenger side is halfway raised and stock so I can't use the convertible option. I was wondering how to get into it. And surprisingly not even a single DIY or help tutorial clip on YT exists to demonstrate how to fix the raising mechanism of the convertible top. Especially since I have heard this pully and wire lift mechanism (And not the actual hydraulic chain) is notorious to break and prevent Convertable use.
With this piece of info, I got an inspiration to go forward and see how I can fix it.
    Thanks, mate.

That turbulence is called a rotor. Drive real fast and you're liable to get some mountain wave.😂🤣

Im learning every day Gary san🤝. Turbulence = Rotor unless its an American brake disc😁

@@ToTheGarage Not all turbulence (rodeo air) is a rotor. Rotors: Circulation of flow about a horizontal or nearly horizontal axis that is usually associated with flow over the lee side of a barrier, such as a mountain range. The rotation may extend to the ground, cause hazards to aircraft, and carry large amounts of dust aloft.
