Just Stellar tone and playing. I hit subscribe. I will be checking out your course! Thank You for quality sound and playing! Both pedals shine as well as your playing!
Came across you video as I have a shanks on the way. Curious, 4 years later, where you landed in the ODR-1 camp. Still using the ODR-C, back to the Shanks or something different all together, for that "nashville" sound.
The Shanks is awesome but I have been stuck on the ODR-C since I got it. I can imagine I would be fine with both. They are heads above ther rest of the compeition in my opinion. I do like the simplicity of the ODR-C EQ and bass cut.
A few people I know have said they had to dial the bass pot all the way off and turn the bass on the amp down as you did too, to get the best tone, Howerver doing this would mean adjusting all the other pedals to accommodate, it’s probably the only flaw with this pedal, Great demo and playing 👍
Hey Robbie! I ended up selling both the pedal and the Novo S. I miss the Novo! I prefer the sounds of the Nordland ODRC. Check it out if you haven't heard it!
Hey man. It does fantastic with rhythmic strumming. For the money I would highly recommend checking out the Nordland ODRC as well. Can’t go wrong with either. Both are the Nobels style circuit.
Any concerns of muddiness to the shanks? I plan to use it as my main drive and am thinking the light speed to boost it? Still learning the art of drives as I am new to electric. Have you tried the Kingsley page? Wondering how it would differ
Roll off on the guitar volume until you find the sound you like...I too get bored with all the neck w@nking. Start with your amp eq and then move on to pedals eq bringing them to unity with the amp and then bring your pedals to unity with each other...it's a bit of a learning curve but just follow the above to begin with and then It'll be second nature to you real soon...
Hi Daniel This demo is awesome. Sold me on the Shanks od-1. But ALSO, your pickup’s in the Michael turtle tele, what are they and how can I get a set like yours ? I’m in Nashville, killer playing man! Jamie
Thanks so much Jamie!! So glad you enjoyed it. These are Tom Brantley pickups and I’m actually a deal. Feel free to email me: DanielSeriffMusic@gmail.com
This is some great demo, Daniel, thank you very much. At the moment I'm using the Greer Lightspeed as an always on pedal for crunch sounds, for solos I'll push it with a RYRA Klone. I'm considering to swap the Lightspeed and keep the RYRA. Any thoughts on this combination? Cheers, Michael
Hey man!! I haven't used the RYRA Klone before...but played the Lightspeed and love it. I really dig the transparent overdrive sound, and personally don't have a Klon clone right now. Thanks so much for commenting.
Nope. It doesn't fit my approach. I found that the King Tone pedals are really dialed for people who play cranked amps. I'm a clean platform kinda guy. I also don't like tubescreamers much, so the red side was never really my thing.@@coversjms
Thanks for the video!! Well done. I picked one & like 👍👍 Curious how you are adjusting the Bass & Saturation? I find they both make significant changes 👍 John
Awesome. Yeah, it’s a great pedal. I turn the bass down quite a bit. I find that this circuit tends to be a bit bass heavy. Saturation I think I have boosted a touch. I mostly use it as a medium gain drive and stack.
I have the jan ray , myriad, karen and a klon ktr.. but im planning to buy this shanks 1. I want to stack a pedal to my janray. Klon is good with it. But i wanna try this od tho.. i wanna try also myriad as od settings with jan ray. Arghhhh so confused. But very nice demo!!!!
Just grabbed this pedal yesterday based on your video..... amazing. I really have gotten away from the sweetener “always on pedals” due to the fact that my amp and guitars were hitting that spot for me. But this pedal hits that spot everytime. It has that thing that no one can explain, I call it smoke. It’s the sound when you plug an old vintage guitar into a really great cranked tube amp..... notes are clear with that “smoke” around it. Only pedal that I thought had a little bit of that sound was the Kot ..... but that wasn’t even close. Now I’m trying to figure out what mid boosted pedal I should use to push this out front. The janray feels like a good edition but might be too similar. Duelist seems interesting as well. What’s your opinion on the Jan ray?
Dude...if you’re looking in that realm, I’d definitely recommend the Jan Ray. Truly an incredible pedal. Although, one of my most favorite tones of all time is the left side of the KOT into the Jan Ray. Singing sustain glory. I do really enjoy the Duellist, but would likely tell you to go Jan Ray unless you’re specifically wanting a two pedal situation.

Thanks so much, Brian! I appreciate it.

I agree! Amazing pedal though. I am using the ODRC these days. Still love the Jan Ray.
Love to see this pedal demoed with your Novo Strat!!!

everything sounds great
very very good! thanks! better than anything!
Thanks so much!
Thank you for this great demo !
Thank you so much! Thanks for subscribing!
I have those Tom Brantley pickups in my jazz bass and they were extremely well worth it! Amazing clarity ,tone and picnh
Dude! Totally. Brantley is a genius.
I have the light speed but was looking for another pedal to work with it. That shanks might place nicely

@@empathysgone96 I haven't experience muddiness!
really good!
Thanks for watching!
How well does it play rhythmic guitar strumming? Your soloing is great but I was considering for my Tele single coil. I’m only a rhythm player

I would love to hear that ODS1 with a Strat (bridge pkup in particular). Thanks!, - KL
Hey Ken! Happy to do that. Might make a quick sample video instead of a huge demo. Are you on Instagram? Hit me up there.
@@DanielSeriffMusic Will do (IG), thanks!
Gewd greef!!! That sounded great
Hahaha! Thanks so much Kevin.
Well done dude
Sounds great
Yo man! Thanks so much!
Nice demo
Hey Glenn. Thanks so much man!
One of the better reviews Ive seen. I'm actually looking for a Tele after watching this!
Nice! Thanks!

is the duellist in front of the shanks on this chain?
At this point, yes.
@@DanielSeriffMusic cool. is the duellist still on your board?

Totally can't go wrong with this pedal! It'll be a nice addition.
I’ve used a Jan Ray for years and the best pedal to stack with it is the Crowther Hot Cake. I also use the ODR1 and it’s sensational.
New here, which Benson are you playing thru?
Chimera into Ox into DAW
Yep. Justin got it. This is a custom combo version of the Chimera. Dope amp!
which guitar is it?
This is a Michael Tuttle tuned T with Tom Brantley pickups.
But isn't there a small pot on the back to control the bass to no?
Yes. But it’s not significant enough
OK, THAT CRAZY-THING WITH THE V♡LUME PEDAL at 12:56, that's SALE MATERIAL!! 😇😇😇😇😇😇😇
Hahahaha. So glad you dug it!! Love that pedal.
Can't hear you dude. But I'm old. Hear the guitar. Nice.
Sorry man. Will do better on the next go round!

using the Vemuram shanks and i just cant find another pedal that functions and sounds that well!
Such a great pedal, right? I really love it too!
Yeah, you worked on that pickups with whoever. Of course...
Yep. His name is Tom Brantley. Awesome guy and very inexpensive price. Look him up...
Nordland ODR-C is better than the old ODR1 and even this ODS 1.
But this is still a nice pedal but way overpriced by a mile!!!
I really like the Vemuram stuff. My favorite is the Jan Ray. I absolute love the ODRC.
$400… not for me
Buy the “Belle” from Wampler for $150. Does everything this one does.
To each their own.
