*Great reel, **enjoyable.fishing** recommend very smooth and I love that you can change from left hand to right hand so easily. Gave it a 4 on durability because I haven’t had it long enough to rate it. Doing good so far.*
I just want to put this out there. I love self centering bails and quickfire II.I'm not sure why multi-stop anti-reverse is so frowned upon or if it has anything to do with self centering or quickfire but as long as I can still buy reels with the self centering feature and the trigger casting feature on smaller and medium sized reels at an affordable price I will still be happy. If those features cause people to lose fish then I attribute it to user error. Also the cheapo black IX series Shimano reels with quickfire are great but I wish they were also available with faster gear ratios.
Thanks to this video I repaired and upgraded a Shimano Core 100mg from a corroded stripped 6:2:1 aluminum drive gear to a brand new 7:0:1 brass drive gear! Those marsh redfish aren't safe any longer!
At the 0:51 mark of the video, you pull the pinion gear out with its the surrounding parts. When disassembling my reel, the surrounding yoke and yoke springs came out successfully, but I was unable to pull the pinion gear out. Any advice on how to get it out ? I cannot put my reel back together because it is blocking the yoke from connecting to the clutch cam retainer.
Took my brand new Battle II 5000 for a spin yesterday for the very first time and I hooked a 20lb yellowtail using a Ugly Stik X2 (medium hard) rod th-cam.com/users/postUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . This combo was recommended on some website and it did not disappoint me. The reel is smooth, the drag click is pretty cool cause i think it adds to the excitement of fighting the fish, personally the drag is my favorite part. I use braid and 300 yards will fill the entire spool. This combo is my main setup from now on although I have to disclose I am new to fishing.
You don''t mention the clutch pawl assembly. I am having a tough time replacing the clutch pawl assembly and spring on my Curado 200HG. How do you do this?
Could I get some info or video on reassembling the Shimano Corvalus CVL400? My brother took the reel apart and now the handle won't drive the spool or worm gear. It's something simple just never took this thing apart before so I'm stuck.
You can order oil and grease directly from us at this link: fishshop.shimano.com/vip/product_listing.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302088634&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474395183670
I have the Curado 101d. When I make a cast and turn the handle to engage the reel the quick fire clutch bar will pop up like normal but when I try to retrieve lure the handle/spool will lock up. I can free it up by pulling out some drag. Can you tell me what the issue is so I can fix? I did notice on disassembly that the main gear had a damaged tooth.
I've seen other videos saying that you can clean the gears with water and dish detergent. Is this safe? I have a couple of shimano reels and I'd like to know what the pros had to say.
You said to not put grease on any parts because it will cause friction but you put it on the main and pinion gear any ways. where should i not put the grease to prevent friction?
i can't get the main gear off of a chronarch 100b. it looks like the drive shaft has two little burrs that were put there on purpose to keep the gear on. how do i take the gear off?
for nate, you don't show where the springs go.there is a small spring that fell out of my tekota 500lc can't find where it go's the parts list does not show where it so's so help
PLEASE PLEASE Shimano Make it were we can Order replacement parts from your website !!! I hate calling and having to wait hours before i can speak to someone to order parts .
He has the cover off but doesn't even mention the bearing on the bottom of the drive shaft. I've just gone through several of these reels and replaced that bearing. Made a huge difference.

Part two of a great series! Keep up the good work with these Videos!

When not in use, do you store it with star brake loosened or tightened? I heard its good to loosen it when storing away is it true?
Is cleaning the citica D series almost the same like cleaning the curado E series partwise? Please comment back!!!

I have a casting reel that has been in storage for 25-30 years. It likely needs a good cleaning before being used again. Where can I get this done?
Does anyone know where is the best place to buy the oil and grease from?

do you have a video like this for fixed spool\spinning reels?

Wont get proper marine grease off the parts unless the water is very hot and your using good dish suds. Proper degreaser is what does the work easily.
Thanks from Brasil

I'm having this same problem on the 200e did you manage to get it off
I went through this with my Curado 100 D. I couldn't get the main gear off. It seems like there's a very tiny notch on the shaft.

does anyone know the value of a Shimano Bantam 100 designed for professionals cost?. Has black rubber handles.

Now I see why these reels are so expensive
I hope this guy doesn’t work for Shimano anymore
