I'm in the US and everyone is always bitching about the holiday stuff coming out too early here. Nice to know it's not just an irritation here! My husband was confused at my Halloween shopping in August but you have to or there's nothing left! I loved your cups!

Yes!! I actually love how early they are here in the US. Also love the entire stores dedicated to just Halloween stuff, Spirit Halloween.. cheaper made item but I’ve bought so many great horror movie memorabilia there from Michael Myers, Kruger, Chucky.. etc. lots of wall decor or desk decor items that I still have. And one of my favorite events, Halloween Horror Nights at Universal. Just love it 🖤 I work at a store, in the back stock area, we have a lot of Christmas stuff but we already pushed out all the Halloween stuff. People want to buy that stuff early usually../ or the day after when the candy and such is on a major sale lol

In the area where I live in Canada it's frowned upon to have Christmas decor out before November. Big stores do it anyways. I worked in a retail store that played Christmas music occasionally before November 11th, which is the day to remember the dead that fought in the war and to appreciate the peace we have now. We had SO many people ask for the manager and complain about it, so no more Christmas music before mid-November in that big chain store! Made me happy.

Yeah, I see that even across the pond, Christmas likes to rear its head right into Halloween's bum. Although it's seemed a bit merciful this year here in the States as many stores are only just now starting to put scant signs of Christmas up when, in the past, it was showing up in August! I love Christmas, but Halloween is a lifestyle so any time before Thanksgiving is, to me, too early to start seeing Santa Clause everywhere.
And you're correct. TKMaxx and TJMaxx are sister stores between the US and UK. We also have HomeGoods here which, I believe, in the UK is called HomeSense and Marshall's which I'm unsure is across the pond, and if so, what it's called there.

I have those stacked coffee mugs. I love them so much. It starts my day with spooky delight. We do a pumpkin carving party at our house every year here in Pennsylvania. We decorate the house inside and out before the party. I clean up to 50 pumpkins the day before, reserving the seeds. That way when people come to carve, they don't have to get all slimed up with pumpkin guts. I save all the innards for my friend who has a farm, she feeds them to the pigs, goats and chickens as a treat. I make two huge pots of chili, cornbread and a soup and guests usually bring other things to munch on as well. We provide beer, wine, and other things to drink and light a fire outside in our seating area. My daughter's friend comes and bakes pumpkin seeds and they are delicious! Everyone who attends usually carves a pumpkin and the only requirement is they have to leave the pumpkins they carve at my house. I try to provide extra intact pumpkins in case kids want to take one home to carve with their family. We have a wonderful time, much fun is had by all and I put all the pumpkins in our yard, lit up, for Halloween night during Trick or Treat. We get 150-200 kids every year and the pumpkins make the yard look spooky (along with my graveyard, lol). My sister and I always dress up to hand out candy-this year we are dressing as vampires having a blood drive. It should be fun. If you ever make it to the states, come and party with us!

I love the runner with the dangling spiders on it!! You got some great things! Every Halloween I try to come up with a bright, colorful costume, since I wear black on every other day of the year. If no one can even tell it's me, then I know it's a good one. My sister and I are going to a "haunted house" fundraiser party in a Victorian mansion, to benefit a charity for local animal shelters. Costume contest, fortune tellers, Tarot readings and so on. Wish you were here! 🖤

It's set up in America where you have to buy things the season before. During summer winter jacket time, spring time is swim wear shopping time, December is time for valentine, etc. By oct it's all Christmas time

I'm in the US. It's the same here also. Every store I have been to since the end of August has their Christmas decorations out. I love Christmas, it's my favorite holiday. It is too early for Christmas decorations. Let's start with Halloween and work our way towards Christmas.

TK Maxx in particular gets their halloween stuff SUPER early and also gets rid of it pretty early to make way for the christmas stuff. I start checking their shops in around July as by August/September they've already sold most of their halloween stock, and I also check them all of the time as they regularly change the stock out and add new things. The supermarkets are really the only places that don't get their halloween stuff in until the actual month of October, so you'd still probably be able to check those.

I’m in California, and I just went out yesterday to do my shopping, also for year round decor. And I was also upset to see almost nothing of Halloween stuff out anymore , But so much Christmas decor out already

Dollar tree diy crafts, five and below seem like the way to go if you're budgeting. Places like Spirit Halloween have awesome wreaths, signs, and decor if you get there early in the month, but still fairly pricey.

Lol I've also already started my Halloween shopping as well, it's my favorite holiday. I do hope you and family get to come to the US for Halloween soon and get to take the kids Trick or Treating. Would love to see what costumes you and Mr Owl come up with. There are always a lot of things to do and see in the US for October.

Get a really big zip loc bag, fold your blankey up and put it in. Then zip it up almost all the way. Put the hose of a vacuum in the remaining opening and suck all the air out. If you do it right, the blanket should be very flat and easily fit in the bottom of your suitcase.

Got a cool looking crows foot candle holder out of B&M solid metal too. Halloween always a busy time, it's me and the Mrs anniversary, some romantic spooky cinema time, also helping my friend Leonard Low out with a gig that weekend on the Scottish Witch trials & showing a film we made on the Pittenweem Witches. It totally pisses me off Xmas stuff in shops this early, so gonna make a wee vid of my creepy doll destroying elf on shelf lol.

I live in a pretty rural area here in the US so getting any decent Halloween shopping in means driving 60 miles to the nearest spirit store and practically elbowing your way thru a mosh pit (not really I'm not that rude but some people really are) to snatch a costume in your size before everyone else does😮‍💨 wish me luck

I'll be spending Halloween in Whitby, Yorkshire for the Tomorrow's Ghosts festival (kinda like what Whitby Goth Weekend used to be).

They put the Halloween stuff out in August here in the states....and then before September is even over, POOF, it's replaced by Christmas stuff. I always have a spooky party in early October for my birthday but when I go out a few weeks before(in September) to get Halloween stuff to decorate, it's generally all gone and I have to buy from Amazon instead. Don't they know they'd sell more if they kept it out longer?? It's ludicrous.

I suspect that the Christmas stuff is out so that people can put it on lay buy (lay away) it’s hyper commercialisation leaves many families chronically broke or shamed. I would love to see Christmas down sized! No one needs to spend the amounts that get spent. Here in Australia our Halloween decorations are getting better quality & range year on year: or as I call these decorations, home decor & furnishings. I still prefer homemade Halloween though. Bring on the spooky.

Eeeee I also got myself a soft throw blanket with skulls on it, perfect for couch napping. I love my new cobweb tablecloth as well.
Our living room gets more Halloween decor every year, but yes you do need to go out earlier and earlier for it. I was starting to see the good stuff in August.

I live in the UK myself and its so difficult to buy 'Halloween theme' items in late august I went to Homesense and got some kitchen wear to hopefully last the year if not more. I do agree I wish more stocks last longer ... I have that throw on my sofa love it so much, got matching chair cushions too. (but got those last year).
