Fun fact: in Scotland, the ‘government’ permitted people to travel among other things by ‘wheel’ during the easing of the Covid lockdown restrictions. I keep a copy of the relevant stipulation (on ScotGov paper) with me in my rucksack, just in case I’m ever stopped, but have never had any issue (though living in a remote area and riding safely, visibly and with courtesy probably doesn’t harm either!)

Amazing video Adam. Shocking these are illegal for some reason, hopefully this changes. The accident segment you spoke of hit me hard. I am in bc Canada got hit by a car 2 weeks into riding lost the use of my left arm. The laws here see me as a pedestrian regardless of mobility, I suppose I'm lucky I am being cared for by the insurance company, but life will be different. My accident had nothing to do with new rider, or the electric unicycle it was the poor infrastructure that is in place for bikes and other mobility riders are expected to use, they are unsafe and a poor after thought.
@ShrekSwag no, my arm went through the shoulder socket and had to have the entire bankard rebuilt. That's the bit where all the muscle and tendons meet at he back of the shoulder. Well never gain mobility again, was a professional golfer, never swing a club again. But I can rip it up on a EUC

What fun! I think if you continue to ride EUCs often in places that are illegal in a courteous manner, they will no longer be illegal. The law enforcement will focus on more important matters. EUCs are the perfect micromobilty transport, and there should be rewards instead of fines for using them.
Adam, hop across the pond to New York City; we will make sure you have a quality loaner and have some great city trails. We haven't quite figured out whether EUCs are legal; signs usually don't specify. Plus we ride on the right.

In the Netherlands it's tolerated. I got a total of more then 31.000km on my EUC's in cities and never got a fine or confiscation. I insured my EUC's as a mobility scooter for a few years now without any problems after being pulled over by police a lot of times.
Wish I'd known about this I'd have joined you. We are so behind here in the UK - electric bicycles & motorbikes are fine but not scooters or EUC's. I avoid the roads as much as possible due to this and mainly ride off-road trails but it would be great to ride on roads legally with insurance. I'd use my EUC a lot more if it was legal.

It's crazy that London is trying to limit car traffic as much as possible with various schemes but at the same time they are not allowing any forms of green personal electric transport like scooters, EUCs, etc. Same with the Netherlands, they have one of the best bike road networks and they still don't allow electric scooters or EUCs, but polluting petrol scooters/mopeds are fine for some reason. This as well as certain countries regulating PEVs into the ground needs to stop.

Dealing with all the dross & shite on the Yt homepage, I remembered to look at my subs and found this vid. Huge grin and many minutes of fun. I really must learn to ride one of these. BTW, where these are illegal, has anyone tried riding while pushing the front end of a bicycle ahead? You're effectively a bicycle then, as no rule surely exists saying both wheels must be joined by a frame.
When I pass by folk, I usually just shrug and say ‘Never buy a wheelbarrow in instalments’, or ‘you haven’t seen a pair of handlebars by any chance, have you?’ I often have a pair of wheelbarrow hand grips about my pockets for such instances 🤣👍🏻

@Wrong Way! Do you happen to have any videos regarding routine maintenance? I started riding last year and my current wheel (InMotion V12HS) has about 6500km on it. I've swapped the tire several times. I'm getting kind of worried that I'm not doing something I should be and I don't want that lead to failure due to negligence. Any suggestions/resources? I really appreciate everything you do, keep it up!

As a long time distance London E-BOARD rider & as someone that rides with the London EUC mob often hard to miss the fact that the more lunatic fringe EUC riding contingent were not there you know the ones that scare the public & give all P.E.V riders a bad rep
Unfortunately London has probably the steepest law concerning PEVs, it's quite a Shame and it's also why UK riders don't post much EUC content if you notice. They don't want Electric Scooters much, EUC's, Electric Skateboards.
In South Carolina, you pretty much can ride anything, no one cares, I wave to the cops going by at 40mph. Come to Surfside Beach, SC Adam, ride with us on the beach, I got fully separated guest house and a pool for you
Always same arguement. No debate. Politicians/Police say EUCs are motorised vehicles which do not conform to motor vehicle regulations ( written for cars, trucks and motorcycles ). So they cannot be riden on public roads, (includes any path public has access to). They cannot be registered, cannot be insured. In some states/countries you can get ticketed for riding illegal vehicle, unregistered vehicle , uninsured vehicle and no license (even if you have a car&M/C license!) . If you are on the footpath they will hit you with using a motor vehicle on the footpath. Countries which have made it legal have had to create a seperate category which exempts PEVs from the motor vehicle laws. A bit like mobility wheelchairs or Segways in tourist areas.

To be honest; many of the riders do operate these "Wonders" beyond the line of safety for others. Radical machines attract radical people.

Germany and Austria have similar laws but Floaty Piet was able to ride past police in Vienna on 4 seperate occasions in one day without them showing the slightest interest whilst a German rider on dirt road in the middle of nowhere had his wheel confiscated and given a fine of 3 months gross salary.

First time was on a dirt road in the middle of nowhere.." If the later that would be more than a your yearly nett salary!!

You fail to mention if someone happens to hit a car while riding, you have no insurance on an euc and body work is EXPENSIVE!
