  • The Scriptures give clear instruction to both Christian teachers and hearers in regard to false teaching. Give a listen and send me your comments and questions so that we can continue to consider this important topic.

Very interesting subject, I've got to hear more! Have a few questions but need a little time to think on them, just the definitions artery helpful.

I would love for you to continue this discussion especially in the world we now live in. I’ll talk with you more in person. ❤

It is a can of worms. The LCMS would seem more Orthodox than the RC by the removal of purgatory and indulgences. However both church’s seem heterodox when compared to the (pick your flavor) Orthodox Church’s of the east. Filioque being the biggest difference but also the wests concept of Immaculate Conception and Mary being free of original sin, was unheard of until the E/W schism. Ok maybe not unheard of but St. Nicholas would have slapped it out of you when he heard it! 😂 So does that make the western RC and Protestant church heterodox? To the Eastern church it does. It can be a tough subject when you get into the weeds! Can we at least agree that the Mormon are in big trouble theologically? 😂

I appreciate the fact that this is something you have spent some time considering. It doesn't seem like we are using the same definition of orthodox and heterodox. I would contend that antiquity does not equal orthodoxy, but faithfulness to the revealed Word of God (i.e. the Bible). Thanks for your sharing your thoughts. God be with you!

@@concordiaevansville I agree we are working with different definitions. I also agree that we have to remain faithful to the revealed word. The worms start showing up when we agree with what constitutes what is the word (canon)and what is apocrypha (non-canonical). I mean we have the Greek Bible, the Catholic Bible, the Protestant Bible (with a lot of translations & don’t get me started on the heretical LGBT Bible). It all gives me pause about Sola Scriptura when we’ve been shaving off bits of the Word for the last 1700 year. BTW I love your TH-cam and please continue this series! I’ll have to check for one on tradition this weekend!
