Nibol’s Diary Entry 10 The Empire has fallen, and the United Cities, as they were known, are no more. We swept the sands of the Great Desert with our weapons, leaving a trail of freedom and justice. At least, that was what we thought. From city to city, in every slave concentration camp, I searched for her. My profane sword moved on its own, my eyes sought only her: Drakar. I scoured every cell, every hovel, every prison. I shook every captured noble until their brains turned to green fruit pudding, but none had seen or heard of her. Or, at least, they did not live long enough to remember. At least, that was what I thought. Our scouts indicated that the old empire had a new emperor and a new nobility had taken power. Master Sin gave me the leadership of our main army, and we set off for Heft once more. Along the way, I took the arms of a noble hunter and watched his pathetic run through the sands, a trunk with wobbling legs. The new samurai were tough, even stronger and better equipped than the previous ones. How had they not taken power before? Weak in spirit, they were just more meat for my sword to reap. In a golden glory that would terrify even Kral’s hordes, I took the streets of Heft, spreading fear and despair among our enemies. Our warriors were formidable; we had no casualties on our mission. The same could not be said for the defence of our base. Our allies struggled while remnants of old enemies wreaked havoc through the farms and buildings of Hidden Sands. Is this my fate, our fate? To wander eternally through endless generations, drowning samurai in the dunes? I, a shek tormented by longing and guilt. In a foolish search for a lost love. What I would not give for a glimpse of the horns of my beloved Drakar. Always oiled and polished, where my lover’s gaze found reflection. Our duels always ended in love. May Master Sin continue to send me through the sea of endless dunes. With each incursion into the cities of Kenshi, a new opportunity to find her. The south of the island seems to be our next target. Meanwhile, Joseph and other high-ranking members are searching for something called Nexus, while attempting to dominate the mind of the feared Igor, former general of the Empire. I have no idea what Nexus is, and would even appreciate the company of a warrior as feared as Igor. And when I find Drakar, I will ask Master Sin to let me depart with the shek warriors of our army to found a city to the west of the swamps. To live hunting raptors and swamp turtles, raising a dozen horned and quarrelsome offspring. May Kral grant me such a destiny. For I am certain that I have redeemed my past weaknesses over a thousand lifetimes.
"...than, How can I stop this?" This is a question that I really hear from Master Sin's voice... Gen. Nibol was asking hinself the same thing. But, endlass ords of samurais tô bê killed is a thing that Nibol likes.
(Wow! That was quick. Also, apparently Lord Daichi was a creation by the Universal Wasteland Expansion to replace Tengu as Emperor of the United Cities, and when Ohta got taken out, he got to be able to take power. Which in my opinion makes no sense and just adds to the chaos, so I understand your frustration! Now looking at things, I believe that the next person to take power in Heft SHOULD be The Dominion. And once their trigger man is dead there, then it can move to one of the other factions. Wait, sorry, previous sentence is wrong, once their FACTION LEADER is dead, Heft should start changing hands again. However yeah, sharing that because I can clearly see the power-exchange and uncertainty of it is frustrating, which is completely fair! UWE is fun with it's faction interplay, however between the people it adds, and the complexity in how it arranges it, it can get pretty confusing and messy. Hopefully though you'll see some more cities change hands coming up! Also, perhaps you can do some manual faction changes in the editor or the like in the Holy Nation? It would make sense that the Shek Kingdom, Narko’s Disciples, and Flotsam Ninjas, would be taking territory. Heck, the Western Hives might want to expand so that they can initiate better trading now that the Trader’s Guild is no longer their competitor and they have a real chance to become a dominant economic trading force. There might be in-game ways to do that, however you might not want to turn your focus back West when there’s so much in the East and South to deal with. Or even turn off the Holy Nation raids or the like if you could? Like you said, at this point, it doesn’t make sense that they have any forces left to throw away. What remnants they have should be massively under-siege and depleted. Also, yes, I love this series and find it quite entertaining. The building phase, becoming more of a legitimate kingdom with the Sand Rebels, Sandukar, Zuri's Refuge, further patrols, etc- all of that is pretty awesome. Really makes them feel like an expanding faction that's built itself up and replacing and defeating the old regime. It is very cool!) CLANG The end of Hiroaki’s naginata met Laru’s katana, both using dulled-edge practice blades of their preferred weapons, and in full-armor. The strike was immediately ‘thrust’ aside by Laru’s blade, turning the polearm aside while she stepped forward to deliver a slash that was immediately ‘blocked’ by the center of the naginata. Hiroaki ‘pulled’ the other end around and sidestepped to WHACK the side of Laru’s helmet with the opposite end of the pole-arm and ‘kicked’ to her stomach. The blow didn’t wind her too much because of the armor, but with the disorienting strike to her head did send her stumbling back a few steps. Hiroaki immediately followed up by swinging the blade of his naginata back in the other direction, aiming for the head. Laru used her disorientation to her advantage though to ‘stumble’ back a little more, just out of it’s range, before orienting herself and pulling up her sword, regaining her stance. “Wow! Good hit. So, uh, this helping you work out your anger there Hiro?” She asked, to which Hiroaki grimaced. “Am I that obvious?” He asked simply, as he THRUST his naginata blade straight forward towards her chest, only for her to ‘knock’ it aside. “Yeah, kinda. What’s bugging you?” She asked as she stepped forward with a sideways ‘swipe’ that he ducked back from, still grimacing. “Quite a bit.” He replied, before taking a defensive stance. “I was right about Lord Ohta leading the Northern Nobles. But apparently, immediately afterwards, the so-called ‘Lord Daichi’ was around to take up the mantle of ‘Emperor’.” He spoke, frustration dripping from his words. “So called?” Questioned Laru as she struck out with a rapid series of chops, four one after another, each blocked by the naginata blade at the end, subtly turning the strikes away as Hiroaki stepped back. “He’s not in the records. Any of them. Not greater nobles, not lesser nobles. I’m convinced that he’s a man who just put on expensive clothes, walked in, and called himself Emperor! And that shouldn’t have worked! But it did. Because I guess the Samurai are just that desperate to keep fighting for egotistical power-mongers and slavers!” He practically ranted, before ‘sweeping’ his blade down and to the right, making Laru step back, and then lowering for another ‘sweep’ at her feet, the guard captain stumbling back from the foot strike before it could connect. “Whoa! Huh, mm, or, or-they’re desperate. Very desperate. We kinda knew they’d get like that going in though. You’ve said it plenty of times big guy, this was never going to be quick or easy. A lot of people were going to get hurt and a lot of people were going to be stupid. If fixing the world was easy, we wouldn’t have to kill so many scumrats to get it done.” Laru actually didn’t move to attack or defend there, and Hiroaki for his part blinked. “Scumrat?” He asked, to which Laru shrugged. “Eh, trying to expand my insults list. Workshopping it.” She spoke, a lighter tone, giving Hiroaki a smirk, which made Hiroaki smile behind his own helmet, and sigh. He shifted out of combat stance, and Laru did the same, as the man looked down, pondering. “… Yeah. We knew this wouldn’t be easy. We did. I just… guess I didn’t realize how many people would go so far to keep the world evil. How many people would grab onto a sinking ship just to go down feeling superior or- or something.” He sighed, placing his naginata end-down in the sand, and moving his left hand to up pull his hood down, before ‘rubbing’ his head with a gauntleted hand. Laru calmly sheathed her katana as she walked towards him, closing the distance as he continued. “And there’s more. The Dominion… I didn’t get much on them, I basically only had what few hints I noticed when I worked for Longen, and the records we got when we captured Tengu. But The Dominion… there’s too many of them.” He shook his head, brows furrowed. “They’ve managed to get a lot more soldiers into The Great Desert than they should have been able to, much too quickly. And we haven’t seen any large boats delivering scores of soldiers. The records were clear, slaves were being shipped off, they’re overseas. But to have so many soldiers here so quickly? … I’ve missed something. A base or- or an outpost or- or something.” He muttered. Laru moved her left hand to rest on his right arm, giving it a squeeze through the metal as she looked up to him with a wry smile. “You’ve got a way of taking the world on your shoulders Hiro. No one’s asked you to know everything, figure out everything, take it on your own. Sin’s the one leading this whole thing. General Nibol’s leading the army. General Mohi’s buying mercenaries and taking names. Commander Joseph’s, uncovering ancient secrets or something, and doing inventing and intel or whatever. Then there’s Mirusaki with his Sandukar and Sand Rebels, and Slink doing- you know I’m not sure, something sneaky I think- my POINT is… you don’t need to take the world on your shoulders. There’s plenty other people there to share the load.” She spoke, before smirking, and pulling her left hand back to give a slight ‘punch’ to his armored gut. “Including me. Don’t you dare forget it.” She finished, bringing Hiroaki to blink… and then smile. Soft and genuine. “I won’t.” He spoke simply, before sighing, and rolling back his shoulders, nodding a bit. “Thanks Laru.” “Anytime.” Hiroaki nodded again, before sighing, and turning to walk back towards the city center of Zuri’s Refuge, away from their little practice session outside, with Laru stepping into time beside him. Back towards the sound of hammers and construction, shouts and movement, with new half-finished buildings, rising in the distance. Expansions well under way, that couldn’t help but bring a smile to Hiroaki’s heart. Every time he got stressed over the evil present, Laru, and Zuri’s Refuge, were there to help remind him of the good they were doing. It was something for which, he was truly grateful. “… … Seriously though, Scumrat?” “I said I was workshopping it!”
Yeah there are so many world states happening its crazy! It might also be a problem that i swap out Modlists which made causes more mistakes. But ill make sure to work around that :) In terms of your suggestion. In Vanilla this shouldnt be a problem, yet when it comes to UWE i have no idea how i can add or remove citys. ill have to look into that :) I love your storys
@@patostrophia2948 (Oof, also possible. Yeah, mods can be a lot of fun! And cause a lot of problems sometimes to. And gotcha! I look forward to seeing what you do, whatever it is, you've been telling an awesome story, so I'm pretty confident it'll be good! And thank you kindly! Always glad you enjoy. Heheheh, and I try, glad you find them useful!)
27:15 That is why I stopped playing with UWE, too many world states and when they added one WS they do not remove a conflicting WS, resulting in this. Maybe an import would help. Great episode my friend, cheers.
Todays story: Eyegore looked at me, his eyes blank, unseeing. So far, he managed to live after the hasty surgery, and currently Mutey was cleaning the blood and extra bits of the organic nexus connector unit (ONCU). Once it was removed, eyegore had stopped laughing and muttering, but in the process he seems to have lost many of his functions, including speech. Thankfully, he still eats and drinks, and when prompted he will pick up a weapon, but uses it like a novice, unable to coordinate himself. However, the more he fights, the more he seems to remember about it. He may have turned into a mute, but he is remembering how to fight. He also responds violently to Tengu’s name, going into a berserk rage whenever it’s mentioned, meaning someone has to keep an eye on him, and I’ve tasked Prophet to the task. The repaired skeleton takes his duty seriously, and helps restrain Eyegore when he is angry, which seems to be more and more lately… Hiroaki has also been a great help in locating the Nexus, however, it looks bleak. There are three areas of concern: The Bugmaster, for whatever reason, is an option. I don’t know how it would help him, as he was controlling he’s army of bugs long before Tengu sent him… whatever he sent. The Ashlands, which I hope it’s not there. If my old boss were to get his hands on it, well, it’ll be a disaster. The third is a remote location on the eastern coastlands, which is supposed to be a Dominion pick up area. If Tengu sent the Nexus overseas, I will use technology to reanimate his body just to tear it to sheds myself. A fourth option, while they don’t have the Nexus, they were nessesary for its smuggling. The shenobi. I’ve decided with them that I’ll ask nicely first, with a couple hundred cats and a couple blades. However, I don’t have to do that alone. What little remains of my people, the skeleton librarians, have returned without success in their search, and we can cross the bugmaster off the list. Apparently one of them got in contact with him and managed to secure passage to his fortress. While there he searched, and unfortunately, didn’t find it. So that leaves the Dominion and the Ashlands… I’ve sent one to the shenobi, with some of Mohi’s mercenary’s, to help persuade them to come around and actually be useful for once. Hopefully he comes back in once piece… The other I’ve sent to the location on the coast. If he can at least speak with the Dominion leader and get confirmation, that would be lovely and much preferable than having to create an expedition into the Ashlands, going past the Mad ones on the boarder and then risking my own sanity as I traverse the country and be reminded of the past. For now I shall wait, and see what happens. Hopefully all goes well, and if not, well, looks like I’m going to have a busy, busy future… Thank you for the shout out Pat! I love these stories and I’m glad that they are helpful in a way :D Thanks to Hiroaki, I think my character will soon be on the right track for the Nexus, and hopefully he will get it back without to much trouble… Then again, it is Kenshi, trouble is an everyday occurrence :)
