I just found this recipe today and happen to have everything, even the Korean dates and pumpkin seeds - so I made a few of each....omg, these are SO delicious and satisfying! ....Maangchi, I agree with your Dad !!...ANYTHING with sweet rice flour is always delicious 🥰
I think of my Dad whenever I make Kimchi. He loves kimchi so much that he would have it with every meal. He's Welsh, but I think he must have a secret Korean ancestor, because all us kids love kimchi too.
Maangchi I really appreciate the way you wash your hands after tasting the mung sweet mixture putting your finger in your mouth. Very hygienic and classy. I am a confirmed fan of yours now.
I have been following you for maybe 2 years now, but this is my first comment ^.^ I think you're wonderful, and I have made many of your recipes. My family loves every one! But my favorite part is when you share stories about your father, or Halmoeni (Grandma). I love learning about Korea, and I feel like you are a friend sharing your stories with me. So thank you kindly! Gamsa habnida!!
I just did this... It is awesome! Two things: 1., Do not leave out the sesame oil, oh my it takes huges difference! 2., Do not mind the burning oil. :D I think my new favourite food is chewy rice flour cake. :) Thank you Maangchi!
This has been the easiest recipe I have completed and actually done correctly! I love the recipes you post but some are harder for me to follow. I have tried about 5 of them and they don’t look as good as yours 😊.This was just perfect! Thank you for sharing!
Maangchi, I am so excited to try this recipe! I have celiac disease and can't eat wheat flour, so it can be difficult to find traditional dessert recipes that I can make. So I always love your recipes that are made with rice flour that are naturally gluten-free AND traditional and delicious! Thank you for sweetening my life! :D
Hannah Blumenfeld I was wondering if the dough could be used for mandu because I'm sensitive to wheat. I'm going to try this dough for mandu because I really, really, miss mandu and I have glutinous rice flour I need to use. LOL.
mi mi Thank you for answering my question. I was going to try mochiko anyway because I love mandu! So far, I've been able to find substitutes for ingredients I'm allergic or sensitive to. Korean food is my absolute favorite food!
I made the red bean one and it was so good.. Last time I made my own red bean paste. Tomorrow I'll be making this again, using the can paste this time. Thanks for the recipe..
My special family food memory is from my childhood. We lived in Italy when I was a child. My parents had friends who owned a lovely restaurant -- Giuseppi and Maria. They would bring my mom and I back into their kitchen and teach us their recipes. This was heaven for me, sitting on a counter, watching Maria and my mom together, laughing and smiling. Maria's best recipe was Spaghetti a la Carbonara. No one makes it like Maria and my mom! Absolutely delicious!
I like your zest for life and your obvious joi de vivre. It is infectious. You must have good people around you! Thanks for being a great teacher and giving these lovely recipes.
I can tell you are an exceptional woman as well as an exceptional chef! It tickles me when you tell of your time in Korea. I absolutely love your videos! Your recipes are scrumptious and devine! Yumm. I've made a few just in the last few days.. I just found you! And I'm glad I did.. I'm learning a new way to cook!
Aww, Maangchi, seriously... I was already in bed, ready to go to sleep. Now I'm just out of the kitchen again, the Bukkumi dough resting in the fridge. This will be the breakfast for my children, they love everything made with mochi (I never fried it in the pan before, though, just steamed it). This will be a good use for the batch of sweet red bean paste I made earlier today. 😊
you are really a sweet person, your personality is so infectious. whenever i am feeling down, i can come watch you make your recipes, and my whole day seems better. If i wasn't so old, I would wish you could adopt me and be my mom. I really enjoy learning new food cultures, and flavors. and I wish my kitchen was as nice and clean as yours. MIne isn't dirty, its just old. and doesn't look all new and shiny. But i really enjoy watching your show. Very nice and organized. Very professional!
These sweet bean dishes remind me of bean pies my mother made with navy or great northern beans. They were made with sugar, vanilla, mashed beans, eggs and put into a pie crust and baked. Then i decided to try making a savory one with meat, green onion and other spices, very tasty.
I just subscribed to your channel! Thank you for making us discover the Korean culture through savory foods! I wish I could just sit in a kitchen, cook with you and talk, talk, talk! Your videos have a cozy feel!
So I just made these and they were delicious! But instead of jujube and pumpkin seeds as garnish I smeared honey on top and then sprinkled on toasted sesame seeds!
Just made this but with Nutella and banana filling for a different twist, very yummy! Definitely going to try the traditional fillings next time. :) Thanks for the easy and delicious recipes!
Left over cooked rice with an egg scrambled added for breakfast was one of my father's favorite. When I make this for my grandchildren I tell this story often.
I mostly think about my father it terms of cooking when I'm preparing a meal. He used to sit by the dinner table and thoroughly cut the ingredients to perfection. Now I catch myself doing the same thing. My father passed away recently so I've been thinking about him every time I've prepared a meal.
Matilda Flodin im pretty sure hes up there looking at u with pride and hes probably boasting about how ur his daughter and ur making him so proud :))) im sorry for your loss
Haha Maangchi, the name of the recipe is funny because my bother's name is Bukunmi (Nigerian). It is pronounced the same way, I had to rewind and hear you say it again.
These look delicious! Mom used to make me my own little sugar cream finger pie when she baked regular pies, I loved that! Dad made the best Western omelettes, good memories of my parents, long gone now.
i just tried your recipe right after watching it! it's very simple to make and my family loves it. also, i have my red bean paste always ready at my fridge so in 10 mins i have finished everything! thank you for this great recipe maangchi, this reminds me of a easier version of goma dango. lots of love, from the philippines!!
Ahh that crispy sound when you bit into it sounds so good! Crispy outside and chewy mochi inside with sweet filling~ Hope I can try it some day :) Thank you for the recipe, Maangchi!
I'm new here and because I'm not an English native speaker I had some trouble understanding but then I realize there is English subtitles, thanks so much
Thank you Maangchi! I am in France and writing my dissertation now, very confuse about what should I eat everyday, but all your dish are simple and easy to cook;) I enjoy it every much!!
Such a heart warming moment to watch Maangchi, with a fancy hair-do, producing full pockets. Bukkumi makes a good reason for breakfast or brunch... with a cup of hot soy milk, which I usually enjoy winter days...But keep in mind to brush your teeth well after intaking this sticky half moon~
Ahhhhh i love your videos, recipes and i love you!!! Whenever i watch your vids, it's nice that we can listen and understand anything you share whether it's personal, family or simply anything! I feel like you're talking to me everytime i watch the vids, i react like i'm talking to you, haha. Man, every vid practically makes me hungry.
I mostly think about my grandma who just passed away, every time when I cook pork skin (she loves eating pork skin) I neither cry or think about her. I can't wait to try this receipe out! Sounds delicious already haha
whenever I make traditional quesadillas made from corn flour and stuffed with Oaxacan cheese, I think about my mother! it was my favorite food and she would always make it for my birthday.
Excellent Maangchi, you are a master. People in India also love to use mung beans in their cooking...Korean and Indian I think are my 2 favorite cuisines. Hungarian comes 3rd, I'm a Hungarian. But it's not nearly as healthy!
Looks delicous! You could put any yummy sweet filling in these (although I guess it wouldn't be traditional Korean food anymore). I want to make one but put nutella in the middle, and make one with strawberry jam + cream cheese mixed together. I'd probably try to do the sweet red beans first just to try it out, though.
Hello Maangchi. I will definitely try this treat. I love anything with rice flour like Mochi. My father used to cook on weekends when he is home. He makes yummy spicy dishes. I miss my father. Thanks for sharing your recipe and your story.
White bread with butter and a bowl of fruit (like frozen raspberries that have thawed or apple sauce) makes me think of my grandpa. They were poor farm people so bread with butter stretched meals. He ALWAYS had his bread and butter with dessert 💜 I miss him ever day
I love your videos!! Just the way you explain everything and stories you tell jusy really make me feel like your an auntie teaching me how to cook. I have never tried Korean cooking but I am going to try some of your recipes&hopefully find a market. I am hoping to travel to South Korea in the future.
always forget my times when watching your recipes VdO! some of my cooking are similar to your but in my own traditional way, so will try your Korean style later some day! thanks Q so much!
I ordered your cookbook last week, Maangchi, and it is so beautiful, I cannot wait to start cooking recipes from it! I'm sure I'll enjoy it as much as I've enjoyed your videos over the last few years.
Yum, i love sweet bean paste filled steamed and baked desserts. This recipe seems easy, I plan to try it, for certain i am making the honey bean paste, thanks for explaining the products to us.
Maangchi by the way, after I made these, I texted my boyfriend (who is Korean) and told him I was secretly dating him only because there would be Korean food. LOL.. maybe he thinks I'm serious?..🤔 maybe i am serious? 🤤 ㅋㅋㅋ!
I just found this recipe today and happen to have everything, even the Korean dates and pumpkin seeds - so I made a few of each....omg, these are SO delicious and satisfying!
