    FT Airguns is a new sponsor and presenter at Airgun Expo 2022 (www.theairgune...) and today we’ll take a look at the FX Wildcat MK III .22 that FT Airguns graciously provided for us to do some videos over the next few months. In the last video, I mentioned the power adjuster and we went through the various settings. Well, I got some of that wrong and we need to make it right. This is a great airgun that we are super happy to spend more trigger time with on the bench.

    Hay Rick nice shooting! Great groups for hunting no doubt! The Competition shooter I've seen almost always state "Pellets are most accurate and stable from 850 FPS to 930 FPS". If you tuned the 2 lighter pellets you shot down to those speeds you probably could get even better groups. Please try it before the next Wildcat III video and let us know! Great job!

  • @sherbs58
    @sherbs58 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    you stated that 920fps is around the perfect speed for pellets, use the power wheel to make adjustments to fine tune etc etc. Nice group with 18.23gns and then the next groups are at 980fps and you seem surprised when the group spread a bit. Why not adjust the power wheel to give justice to the lighter pellets.. strange!

    Straight from the FX manual -
    "Adjusting the power
    Power can be altered by adjusting the hammer-spring tension wheel (1).
    This is a quick way to fi ne-tune the power and accuracy of your rifl e and has
    7 fixed levels were 1 is MIN and 7 is MAX with the bottom position being the
    reading point.
    This must only be done when the rifle is un-cocked.
    The fixed level marked with ADJUST is only for adjustment. In this position you
    can tune the hammer-spring tension with an adjustment screw.
    The adjustment screw is located inside the hole (2) and is operated with a
    1,5 mm hex-key.
    This can only be done when the wheel is set with the adjust option at the
    downward position and un-cocked.
    Turn the adjustment screw counter clockwise to increase power and clockwise
    to decrease power.
    NOTICE - NEVER adjust the power when rifle is cocked. Doing so might
    damage the power-adjuster wheel and will void your warranty!"

    I'd slow things down to around 880fps.

      I agree. That’s pretty fast for light pellets. I shoot 25.39 grainers on PL7.

    JSB, Air Arms and FX pellets (and a few others now as well) are all JSB pellets. The ONLY difference (according toe the rep at the factory) is in which die they come from at the JSB factory, which is seven different dies for the same exact pellet in a given cal IIRC. The lead wire is all the same. Each company will take several of their rifles to the plant and test pellets from all the different dies available to them and then have JSB make their particular brand name of pellets from the die that gives the best overall average of accuracy. Yes, AA rounds off the numbers as does FX. In my FX guns, JSB labeled pellets still give the best accuracy at any speed tried. You can get very excellent accuracy from pellets at 1000 fps or more when the gun is tuned properly and especially when using FX guns and you have the right liner. My AA S510 will shoot very small groups like the first one in this video with both JSB 14.3's at 1015 fps and Crosman Premier HP's at 999fps.

    First off, thanks for all your videos and the hard work you and your team put into them. FX are some great shooting rifles and a great platform for guys like me who like to tinker with there guns and settings. Even though the groups with the 2 different 16gr pellets weren't terrible, 980 is way too fast and your groups would tighten up a lot if you try them between 850 and 920fps! Anyways, thanks again and look forward to the next one! The only rifle that I have found so far that likes shooting pellets that fast is my RTI Prophet LR 22. I'm shooting 25gr Redesigns at 990fps and will 1 hole them at 50yards...

    I wish you had shot the Hades with the power wheel turned brown to the 3or 4 setting to see if the group tightened up. Velocities in the high 900 range may a little much. I have one gun that’s a tack driver with Hades traveling at 950.
    BTW. It’s unbelievable to me that an $1800 gun (the bottle version) doesn’t come with a decent owners manual. Not only does it not show how to adjust the duel regulators, it doesn’t even mention them!!! Ok…so it’s the same as the Maverick (so I’m told). Great, I’ll just purchase a $1400 gun so I can get instructions on how to adjust an $1800 gun! Yea.. I know. Go to UTube (but you get the point)!

      We are no where near done with this gun. It’s my first experience with it and I’m bringing folks along for the ride. I fully intend to dial in velocity in future videos. We are just going to take our time. I want to know if I’m still going to love this gun a year from now. Liking something when you first get it and it’s shinny and new is one thing. But use it and live with it for some time. That’s the real “review” of a product. That’s what I’ve been speaking to do with AGW over the past couple of years.
      Cheers

    • @DocMustafa
      @DocMustafa ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@williamwilson2624 Accuracy will be the same to be frank. The BT just has the capability to shoot slugs due to the larger plenum (which they usually don’t test the slugs on this channel but maybe they will in the future)…the dual reg lowers E.S. but I’ve seen lower E.S. spreads with single regs too. Like plus or minus 2.

    FX loves pellets 880-920. Those Hybrid slugs you can push to 960-970. Regular slugs are solid at 900-1000 but def like to be on the higher end of that. I shoot 23 grain NSA slugs out of a compact (500mm) FX Impact M3 at 1000. Pretty much MOA at 100 yards. My ES is 7fps with an SD of like 2. When the reg and hammer settings are in harmony your chrony numbers will just be insane. Also the FX barrels were completely designed around the JSB pellets and the FX branded pellets.

    Nice! That is a very good pcp rifle. Almost got one but I have too many others lol Idk I still might get it but I do have the mavericks. The wildcats are pellet rifles out of the box. They have multi purpose barrels on them. To shoot slugs depending on weight grains, you have to purchase a true slug barrel for them and for more power to use heavy slugz you have to get the after market heavy spring and the pin probe then tune it up. A lot of money and extra time. I don't shoot slugz so it doesn't bother me and they make pellets up to 28 grains. I don't go over 21 at any time. They shoot easily to 100 meters with pellets. I don't shoot past 60 any time anyways. I take care of my things. Hey, sta slingin that sweet air rifle lead! Ed da pro snippin air man💥💪😱😱😱

    I have never received as good accuracy from Hades in 22, 25, and 30 cal as I get from regular JSB diabolo pellets. Never, and I do tune my guns and try different liners. FX manuals SUCK! The adjuster wheel is designed so that the only number that is oriented in a normal upright position is the one to read.

    Buen video, yo tengo el mismo rifle, solo una cosa. La banda de goma para el velocímetro le afecta al cañón para que quede flotando libre. Intenta sin el velocímetro para ver si cambian tus grupos. Saludos desde Capilla de Guadalupe, Jalisco, México.

    I don't know why everybody wants to go crazy about every time they get an air rifle they have to shoot slugs out of it what's wrong with shooting pellets out of them they're cheaper the Slugs cost a lot more money so why shoot them if your small game hunting and you're not trying to shoot a hundred yards at a squirrel why do you need slugs that cost more money I mean I thought that was the point of shooting air rifles because you could get the pellets a lot cheaper than powder burning bullets if you're going to start shooting slugs you might as well just shoot a 22 caliber rifle because the Slugs for these air rifles cost as much is a 22 caliber bullet and a powder burner doesn't make any sense to me

    • @arubino19
      @arubino19 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I get 350 23 grain NSA slugs for 22 bucks. That’s highly competitive with pellet pricing. Slugs are just far superior to pellets in nearly every category, are you not aware of the ballistic advantages? Sure they shine at longer ranges, but the knockdown power and destruction is insane. But you can’t just shoot them out of any airgun, the newer FX barrels have definitely been designed with slugs in mind. There’s no way I can ever go back to pellets after shooting slugs.
