D'accord avec vous, cette musique est une merveilleuse madeleine de Proust : toute l'insouciance et la joie de vivre de ces années là, ceux-là seuls qui l'ont vécu peuvent le comprendre...
In the US, this was played on Beautiful Music stations as an instrumental ( Simon Park Orchestra) What a Joy to hear the lyrics! Thank you for posting!!!!!
There's not much you can't find on youtube, if you're struggling to find a particular song just leave a comment on one of our channels, it's worked many times that one of the uploaders has it and uploads it.
not sure if you guys cares but if you guys are bored like me during the covid times you can stream pretty much all the new movies on InstaFlixxer. Have been streaming with my brother for the last couple of months :)
Absolutely brilliant! I've always loved the tune, since watching Van Der Valk in the 70's. And I've been a fan of Matt Monro for years. Put the two together with some proper song lyrics; what a combination!!!!!!!!!
In my area there was an "easy listening station" WLKW broadcasting on AM-990 and FM-101.5. which broadcast the "theme from VDV over the years. Thanks for the update. Narragansett Bay
I was unaware of Van Der Valk but I used to hear the instrumental version of this as background music for an Airline commercial in the 70's. It haunted me over the years until one day I heard the instrumental version on one of those elevator music FM stations. I wrote to them asking for the name of the tune and that pointed me to an album by Manuel called "Music Of the Mountains" where if was identified as "Eye Level". I never knew that there was a vocal arrangement to go with it!
Ah, "Manuel and The Music of the Mountains". The Latin inspired alternate orchestra of Geoff Love. In both personas he did some wonderful arrangements. Well worth searching for either.
great song by still a very underrated artist, Sinatra once said thank God that guy is a foot smaller than me , say no more Sinatra knew Monroe was class
This was played on the radio a fair bit back then, I'm surprised it didn't make a small dent in the chart. Interesting to see Zack Laurence of Mr.Bloe fame on the credits - small world. There were a lot of covers of this tune at the time - not least 'It's a Tetley Time of Day'...:-)
I guessed this might have got some airplay on radio 2 but was still into radio 1 in the early 70's. Didn't realise Zack Laurence was Mr. Bloe thanks for the info Joe
ferrarial There was a bunch of people involved in Mr. Bloe - Zack was the pianist. I think we all latched on to him cos he played that great piano bit at the beginning. I think he was the main-stay though.
TheSmithDorian ....the instrumental theme to the 'Van der Valk' TV series had already been hugely popular - sadly some tunes do not lend themselves very well to a lyric after the event.
***** Yeah, I dimly recall Cleo Laine doing a vocal version of Cavatina (theme to the Deer Hunter) around about this time too. I think that record might have met a similar,Fate.
song brilliant discovery performer and the chain was so .serial what it was. new version of the old van der something. then wiki. that kind of great starting number. agreed brilliant.
Well two nice surprises here. Firstly, didn’t realise that words had been put to Eye Level. Secondly, it’s the great Matt Monro singing it. Brilliant!
Same.
@@Rascaduanok & same again !
Me neither
Most underrated singer of all time
Simply the best male crooner. Period.
Terry Wogan was always playing this on his radio show in the 1970's. Brings back memories. 😊
RIP .

Matt was such a talented chap, music was changing but he still held his own during the 60's, a tragedy he died so young

It was a legendary 70s British TV crime series.

I never realised that Matt Monro recorded this - very good lyrics added to a great instrumental.
Catchy classy number from a classy guy.

Watching Van Der Valk for the first time ever at age 58.. Always loved the song, the tune and Matt Munro's voice.

He’s Franks favourite singer apparently

A bit unlikely since Sinatra was only 5ft 7in!

Still is. Other than Bobby Darin, there's nobody as great.
I didn't know there was lyrics to the Van Der Valk Theme before!
Me neither!
farley fuentebella I'll be learning the lyrics and singing it now! "I'd like to stay ..."
I believe Matt was a London bus driver before he hit it big!
@@andythesoupdragon Elvis was a truck driver..whats your point?
Somehow I wish there weren't!
Let's Give Our Respect, According To Google, This Was His Last Song Before He Tragically Died.

Yeah, this is the first time I hear the lyrics. I love to sing this lovely song, but where are the words.
I don't usually add the lyrics but as this is pretty popular they are now added to the description. Thanks for viewing
Old Dutch song. Ik ben met Katootje naar de botermarkt geweest.

I'm still trying to find where that Cortina is now?
Matt could sing the phone book
honest to god ,,,,never heard this before ,,,,,,,sort of good isnt it
Sort of, and then some :)
Eye Level
Matt Monroe was one of the greatest as good as Sinatra and bassey
First I have heard of this. Nice easy listening, but I personally prefer the instrumental version !
@@willieckaslike I'm a huge fan of Matt's but I too have to agree the instrumental is the best version
Why does the label name John Burgess as producer?
Got to number 28.
Thanks Mel, info corrected, I only had a top 20 listing when I uploaded this and forgot to recheck when I got the full chart listing
Frank Sinatra said Matt had the best voice
ohhh never heard tbis tjis before i prefer the other one no words
I prefer the instrumental version.
Man of poor taste alert.....
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines 747 flying in the distance
Lyrics somewhat out of order. The first vocal I heard was by James Pegler.
+charles winterton Thanks for viewing and commenting, lyrics now correct, over 12,000 views and no one else mentioned it
Anybody else here from 'Mid Morning Matter's'?
Me! The words could have fitted Alan Partridge's relationship with Angela.
No disrespect to anyone, but I prefer it without the lyrics 😊
I love Matt Monro but this is not a tune for lyrics. Thanks for posting anyway.
1 dislike. Lol.
This was awful.
