    Andrew... the attic floor "joists"... are you using 2 X 8's.... or 2 X 10's?? It looks like they're 2 X 8's spaced 24 inches apart, which would give them a max spanning distance of less than 12 feet... and a LOT of bounce in the attic floor. Care to share the lumber size and spacing numbers?

    • @TKCL
      @TKCL  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      2x8s yellow pine. It's equivalent to 2x10 spruce or white wood. Yellow pine is stronger. This was engineered for attic weight only, not living quarters.

    • @markb.1259
      @markb.1259 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TKCL I'm no expert. The tables I find online list the maximum spanning distance for 2X8 southern pine, spaced 24 inches on center, at 11 ft. 11 in. That's gotta be pretty close to the length you're installing. I wouldn't put too many holiday decorations up there... ;-)

      Just looked at tables myself. #2 yellow pine for uninhabitable attic spaces 24 inch on center is 13ft 2 inches to over 20ft depending on psf load. Looks like I'm well within the range for no more load than we will have.

    Is the top plate need to be doubled ? Interior walls ?

    • @TKCL
      @TKCL  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Only in the center, that's the only load bearing wall per engineered plans

    A little late now, but a T50 stapler would have been what I would have put the plastic up with.

    • @TKCL
      @TKCL  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That plastic is quite heavy, I'm afraid it would rip right off the staples.

    • @shopnwoods9901
      @shopnwoods9901 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TKCL It would if you only put a few. You'd need to use a bunch which is cheap and easy with one of the hammer staplers.

    We have had rain every day for about a week and I’m thinking it will continue to have showers for the next week. I know it’s not the same problem as you, but I’m not sure how we will be able to keep up with our yard work. I’m afraid grass will be long for quite a while here.

    Good job, looking good. Will you have to worry about the ceiling sheet rock intersections with the walls needing a nailer? Hope those cutoff are long enough for blocking bet they are not.

    • @TKCL
      @TKCL  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sadly cutoffs are not long enough.. Sigh.... And yes I'll have to block out for sheet rock in the ceiling too.

    Seven weeks here without rain and it still hasn't rained here, even though the weather geeks predicted rain.

    Hey buddy!! Could you please do me a favor and move your camera away from your fan?

    I'm not trying to be picky here, but if you're going the be really thorough about why you are doing this or that Please use the right terms. You're not putting up rafters here they are called (Ceiling Joist). But you are doing a good job besides that. Keep up the good work.

      I'm a first time home builder, don't have all the terminology down yet.
