    The spending bill that was rejected yesterday included $3 million for inspecting molasses. It also included removing the word, "Criminal", for legal proceedings/ documents to a new phrase, "Justice-Involved-Individuals." So go ahead and let the government shut down until they clean up their act.

    The American people couldn't care less that it would effect 70k government employees in HI, or the 3 million total gov. employees. Shut it down until this stupid spending ends.

      I wonder how many of those 70,000 workers work hard and need their paychecks, and now their families won't have a happy holiday season because of this...I empathize with their plight.

    I think that we need a law that states that if congress cannot pass a budget in time, none of them are eligible for reelection. In the real world if you don't do your job, then you get fired.

      Problem with that is they will pass anything then whether it is good or not. They need to lose their jobs if they cannot pass a balanced budget with a reduction of 10% from the last years bill and it must have a way to reduce the national deficit by 5% the following year.
