Juan, your channel really makes me happy and proud. Thanks for addressing the “Men That Crochet” topic. We are definitely here and love our craft. I do crochet in public. I have two or three crochet buddies (female co-workers) that meet once or twice a month at a local Panera and we crochet together. Frankly, there have been no raised eyebrows or turned heads.
I was a cross stitcher before getting into crochet, and I stitched with several men. My husband's 96 year old aunt has dish clothes that her father crocheted. I love doing needlework of any type with men: I love the variety of projects, different eye for color combinations, and yes just the conversation---less snarky (usually lol) and different viewpoints. 🙂
Something that always strikes me about your videos where you talk about yourself and your life is how you have worked so hard to overcome adversity. It’s very inspiring for people to hear that. There are a lot of people who are struggling with their health, their finances, bullying, etc. It sounds like you have been through a lot in your life and you have overcome and excelled in so many areas. I’m so glad that you shared your life with us.
Juan, you are a man of many colors. I am so impressed by all you have accomplished, your scholastic degrees, your recovery from health issues, all the things, but most of all your skill and dedication to the craft and your love of crochet and yarn. You are a breath of fresh air to the yarn community. I love BOD, but you are a different take...Love your channel. Hope you will consider starting a second channel where all your tutorials will reside. I get happy when I see that you dropped a new video. On the way to 10k...🎉
Thank you for answering a lot of questions about yourself, and your craft. It's hard when you don't want to "put yourself out there" because most people are very private. You have a way of relating enough to satisfy your peers. Everyone deserves privacy and you are no exception 😊. Thank you for sharing your self, and your passion. I think it's GREAT that you are almost at100K !!! Congratulations 🎉🎉 I look forward to your videos, just as much as BOD's, and Crochet Crowd. I wish you well Juan! Have a great day 😊
Love the hair cut. Thank you for pleasant way to spend time while I unwind and work on a project. You bring a nice positive energy to the yarn community.😊
“Drink with class” lol!! That just hit me at the right time and I laughed so hard-made my day!!! I think it’s great that you are so considerate of others when deciding what tutorials to do. However, I think if there is ever a tutorial you want to do but it’s already been done a ton, you should still do it. Because we are all different, we connect with others differently and while I love some channels, there are ones I cannot watch/follow their tutorials. Especially since you are a fellow lefty crocheter, its really hard to find good tutorials that I enjoy watching and following along with. Love your channel so much!
Full disclosure... I am a hard-core knitter, and ADORE you & your channel. It's delightful to see more men involved in the fiber arts, and your support for value yarns means a lot to me. No shame or judgement; just being creative. BTW, your haircut is great (it highlights those amazing eyes of yours) and never apologize for the greys. At almost 71, most of mine are grey with some S&P in back. Thanks for bringing us new and different content. Best wishes on reaching 10K soon!
I am very glad you survied the bulling, shows your strong will and personal strength. Being different doesnt mean bad. i do not know your full story but who you are now say alot. Good luck in this new stage of your life.
Jennifer @CinnamonStitches has also been an amazing advocate for size inclusive patterns. Especially challenging the big name companies! Thx for carrying the torch, Juan! 😊👍🧶
In the "70's " our local news paper reporter crocheted and knitted beautiful sweaters and scarfs, gloves just anything he wanted. He never tried to hide the fact he done this. He never married he took care of his mother. He has since passed away but he was very good with yarn.
My dad is the one that taught me to crochet back in the early 80's. My mother could not crochet or sew anything. My dad now has dementia, but I am so happy and blessed we have those special memories 😊
I love Heartland, my favorite colorway is Rocky Mountain. Also like Petrified Forest. Great for sweaters, and I agree with you, it's a lighter #4 weight. Loved this Q&A, Juan!!
Juan, I’m with you on the single stitch projects-boring!!! Thanks for all the sharing you did today. So glad you got healthy and decided to do the TH-cam videos and introduce yourself to us.
I loved the Q & A sessions, Juan. You have certainly done a lot of things, so far, in your lifetime. Quite the well rounded individual and will certainly be doing much more. You are most interesting! In particular, i really enjoyed your comments on cooking and eating out. I agree with you completely. I love cooking and enjoy my own food too. After all, anything you can get in a restaurant, can be made at home. It's better, safer and much cheaper, for sure. But we aren't here to talk food. I'm waiting for some more tutorials. I've made one of your hats, the Metro beanie.Have not done the scarf yet. I love the hat and plan on making more in different colors. I love the simplicity of it. I have lots of hats. Many are Crystal's patterns, many are purchased. Wide brimmed, baseball, turbans, crocheted, knitted. I do love hats! I'm enjoying your content very much and look forward to seeing much more. Peace and happiness to you! 💕💕💕
Although there are lots of tutorials on the same things, I choose certain creators to use videos based on them and their talents alone. Please don't be shy about making similar videos to someone else. Everyone has their own teaching style and some are much easier to follow than others making the same things.
It has been such a joy to meet you. I know it has only been one sided however, It makes my heart soar too know there are (you) well balanced people in this unbalanced world. Thank You for being you and sharing your passion for yarn with all of us.
Watching this today. I’m glad to see you know who The Crochet Crowd is. While there are lots of tutorials out there, everyone has their preferences. There is always room for more. Everyone has their own style and again, everyone knows their preferences. As a VERY seasoned crocheter, please don’t feel you are stepping on anyone’s toes. Unless you are teaching someone else’s pattern without their permission, you aren’t stepping on anyone’s toes. There are lots of teachers of all kinds of subjects all over the world. I think there are even more students. If you are confident in your skills, which you appear to be, you aren’t stepping on anyone if people ask you to teach them. Ok. That’s my novella for today. 💜💜💜 Oh, and transmissions are hard. Personal knowledge. 😜
Love the Q & A learned alot about You !! All A 's , I love the truth you tell bout expensive yarn nowadays people can't afford much , love Your Channel !!
Your tutorials are priceless as being a left handed crocheter. You already taught me a stitch that i 30:10 was doing differently, you made it easier 💕💕
That’s cool, I registered pharmacy technician for the state of West Virginia. But I work as a tow collector and I do get to crochet at work. Thanks for answering questions. Hope you have a good night.❤
Love the haircut, Juan! Like an amigurumi griphen?(my spelling sucks). I love how you and Bag O Day always reference each other and other TH-cam channels. I am a big fan of both you and Bag O Day.
JUAN, you are a 🦎 CHAMELEON 🦎 in so many facets of life... in business, in trade and in crafting. I'm so impressed with your abundance of knowledge...🫶🏻💋🫶🏻 #love
Juan thank you for sharing all these Q&A's with us. I have a question, can we see your other yarn room that you talk so much about?? I bet your going to hit the 10k mark bu either 2moro or the next day! 😊 💜💜💜
Oh my goodness, I just want to give you a big hug!! 2 heart attacks and diabetic ect... I want you to stay around for a long time, so keep up the good work with your health . ❤❤❤❤
Our favorite restaurant is our back deck, with food cooked by us. My hubs is also diabetic, so once we took over all of our food prep we started to taste real food again. If that makes sense. Okay, really on to part 1 now. 😂
Juan, taking you so much for sharing all this wonderful information with us 💜. I have niece who is deaf and I was really happy to know that you know sign language. Your channel has been amazing and I’m extremely grateful to have found you 🥰💜💜💜
Thank you for sharing so much of yourself! I’m impressed more & more with each video. You are so accomplished & at the same time so humble & real! That’s a rare combination, unfortunately. Thanks for shoutouts of other TH-camrs! Looking forward to more Juan!
Juan my dude! Thank you for sharing more about yourself. You are fascinating. You have overcome so much. You are educated and smart, You have a clue what you are doing in your world. I am older than you and still do not know what I want to be when I grow up. I noticed one question that no one has asked you yet. You say you have a translation business. Which languages do you personally speak? English is pretty obvious. American sign language is also obvious. What others? Thank you for a wonderful Q & A session. See you in the next one.
Happy Halloween... Love the new look and no scarf, much better.... I love the Heartland Yarn, have the light grey with the colored flexs... purchased to make a sweater for myself.... Ive been crocheting over 50 yrs...still learn something new everyday.
Juan, thanks for your honest answers.I am so glad that you are respectful to those who came before, such as Crystal from Bag O Day, and Jennifer from Cinnamon Stitches. You are correct the there is so much knowledge in the yarn community, and you are a valuable source of that knowledge. I so enjoy your channel. I watch many channels, and you are def. in my top 4. You are such a busy, well rounded human being. Thank you for being you.
The more I watch your videos, the more you fascinate me. You're like an onion---so many layers. If you want to do more tutorials, go for it. Some folks learn better from others. My friend couldn't teach me to crochet---I couldn't even understand the slip knot. None of it made sense. Fast forward a couple of years: I signed up for an 8 week course at our county night school. Teacher was a 74 yo man, and things finally clicked for me. Do your thing, Juan---we'll be following.
Hi Juan, thank you for sharing again i like these videos, to get to know you more and your likes and dislikes, crocheting is also therapy for me,you will be at the 10K mark real soon because you are awesome and very easy to listen to that nice calming voice
Thank you for giving away your beautiful works of art to people who need them! I live in MI, so I know a little bit about winter,.......it is coming and we've already had our 1st snow. Sad face. I am a SUMMER BUNNY!!! Thanks for your great videos!!
Thank you for answering my question! I actually was enabled by your Herschnerr's $1 yarn deal video to buy about 8,000 yd of Soho tranquil tweed so I'm going to hope it is a decent acrylic yarn for a blanket. 💜 It was $36 which is affordable for a handmade blanket, and yesterday they had the 31 cent flat shipping so it really worked out well. Thank you so much! Also, my 8-year-old daughter is learning to crochet and she is a leftie so it is cool to find both left and right-handed tutorials on the same channel. She's still beginning but being able to go on TH-cam and find left-handed crocheters for her to watch has been a huge blessing!
I wanted to make a scarf for my first project. I found Atreyu on YT. A dude! I was so excited because my Grandpa used to crochet in addition to lots of other things. I loved learning new things about you. Now to go find part 1. 😁
I was so happy to learn more about you. You are such a kind person and so gracious to us for answering all the questions. I was surprised to learn you are a classically trained musician! 🎻🎶I've sung my whole life and studied music at college. I still sing at church/weddings/recordings. Do you still play anymore? 😊👍🧶
I love puzzle yarns! A 5wt is as high as I will go so it's always my go to. My donations are for the Girls & Boys Ranch so I use a different color for each scarf & hat & try to use a different stitch so they don't all look alike. I wish Walmart had a bigger variety and/or Premier had lower prices. I store them in tubs as well but I have limited space. To keep from having to dig them to make sure I don't duplicate them, I take pictures to refer back to. I know a guy who does the most beautiful embroidery work on his shirts. They are the ones with the special yoke across the back and down the shoulder. He was a carnival ride owner/manager and the work was either carnival related or American Indian related due to his heritage. I think men should be proud of their work regardless of what it pertains to and show it off! Thanks again for sharing more about yourself!
I look forward to watching you daily if your on. Love watching you and seeing what you make and show yarn . So happy to see that your almost at 10,000.
Juan, I appreciate you not wanting to step on any other creators patterns and content but, please, keep in mind that although there are 1000's of creators , not every creator connects with every person. There are many creators who put out great patterns and instruction that I cannot listen to. There is just something about their voice, personality or delivery that I don't enjoy. You are one of the creators that I truly enjoy watching. You voice, your body language, your confidence are attractive to me so, please, put out whatever content your big ole heart desires and don't be concerned so much with stepping on someone's crochet hook. K? There is plenty of room for all. I do request you play the viola sometime on camera. 🙂.
It’s me again Juan, I’m watching this a second time, lol.. there’s a lot of men in the prisons that love to crochet, they say it’s calming for them, I think it’s awesome 👏
Thanks Juan. I really like the way you teach. The sound of your voice is calm, directions are slow and steady when needed! Would you be able to show how to do the formula for increasing the rounds from the top when starting a hat/toque please. I also like your roulette wheel hat designer. ❤
Omg I love the idea of a man crocheting behind the counter at the lumber yard. I work in building materials and am about to clock back in from lunch. Ps: I do not crochet (I loom knit), but I love your channel and big personality!
I like watching different ways to do the same thing to see if there is a way to improve or do something faster. My MIL taught my husband to sew and knit. He never picked up crochet from her. And he'll let you know, he has no shame. Sewing was his side hussle when he was in the navy, he sewed patches on for his shipmates.
You remind me so much of my son in law. He is 6'5", used to be very heavy but is now a healthy weight. He loves to cook at home for the very reasons you stated and because he can control and create the flavors to our liking or needs. Really enjoy your chats and very happy for you on how your channel has taken off this past month.
Hey Juan. Great Q/A. All I have to say is, Diet Coke is LIFE!!! Thanks for sharing so much about yourself ❤ P.S. I love seeing a new video in the morning. I’ve been having my coffee and watching before work ☕️
Another awesome get to know you segment 😍 Thank you for answering my questions - I too wish we had those yarns here ❤ Absolutely agree that make Crocheter sneed to be recognised more! My Mike is one who is front and centre and proud ❤
You are an amazing young man, really enjoy your channel, just an fyi, you may know this, A famous football player with the Los Angeles Rams Roosevelt Grier is a crocheter, now 91 years young and I see you going a long vary long time crocheting❤
This was a fabulous Q&A session. You’re a fabulously educated man and so interesting to watch. To learn so much about you was so much fun. I just realized I use “so” so much! 😂. Anyway love your content!
Good morning Juan🌞. I love your podcasts and videos. Q & A's are so informative. I noticed today that you got a haircut and I love it. I did like the little pony, but I like this cut better. I, too, am a fan of Caron one pound and Red Heart Super Saver Ombre yarns. My favorite hook to use is the I but I will go to a H and J many times as well. Currently working on 3 baby blankets for great-great nieces x 3 due in Jan, Feb, and March of 2024. Congrats on your 5K subscribers 👏👏🎉🎉
Doesn't matter if there's hundreds of the same thing. People resonate with different people and pick and choose who they like to watch so do what you want.
You are a gem in my little corner of videos. Love watching you. 6'6"? Holy Garfield. I am 5 foot 1/2 inches...13 inches shorter than my son...I am "fun sized" 😂
To do a Live Video, bring a violin and play a piece for us. I would enjoy that very much. I still think your Metro Shawl is an excellent one for beginners. I've not seen that way of crocheting a shawl. In fact, I recommended it to someone. She liked it!
As someone who has been crocheting longer than you have been alive, I would make a suggestion that you give some natural fibers a try. I just can't get used to all the acrylic.
Juan i just noticed your haircut! I absolutely love it! It looks soooo good! Love your videos! 💕💕 I do not like making blankets at all but love love making granny squares! I love making smaller things! 💕💕. Wow u r a man of all trades! I’m so very impressed! U r very intelligent! U have so much talent!! I agree about men crocheting! There is nothing wrong with a man crocheting! Love it when a man crochets! Great video!
I can't wait for the Spanish blanket video. I'd love to make one for my Spanish best friend. I'm making a blanket using Bernat blanket yarn in the closed granny square. One big piece. Thanks to your video.
Juan, I am loving Your Q & A 💜💜💜🤗🤗🤗! Love Your new Hairstyle & the Color is Absolutely Gorgeous 💜😊! We owned a Full Service Salon "Sun Flowers" from 1993-2004 & could have made a fortune if only we could have bottled Your Natural Hair Color 💜💜💜😊. Thank You so much for sharing Your Life with all of us 😊💜🤗!
hiya Juan!! your gonna love heartland! its my quality go to when i do something special for friends. they all love soft and fluffy. I very impressed by you, ya know. you are a different take on a crochet channel. a few yrs ago i was working in pharmacy and rather enjoyed it. nice hair cut. have a marvelous day!! xoxo from colorado.
Juan, you amaze me how much you achieve in a day...I'm in awe of you...
If men were not meant to crochet or knit, I'm sure Mother Nature would have made it physically impossible for us to do so.
I’m happy to see men crochet, I think it’s awesome… 👍
I was a cross stitcher before getting into crochet, and I stitched with several men. My husband's 96 year old aunt has dish clothes that her father crocheted. Have you seen Jonah the crochet prodigy from Wisconsin. He raises money for people in Ethiopia which is his home country. I believe he is 15 now.
Omg that boy is amazing to watch, he crochet so fast and he doesn't even have to look at his project. I think he is sponsored by yarnspirations now 😊
I love Heartland, my favorite colorway is Rocky Mountain. Also like Petrified Forest. Great for sweaters, and I agree with you, it's a lighter #4 weight. Loved this Q&A, Juan!!

Soy Mexicana and it makes me very happy when you talk a little about your background. Felicidades con tu programa.
You can't get me hooked on Puzzle yarn. I loved Puzzle before I knew you.😉😊
Juan, I’m a quilter and a crocheter and I’m happy to see more men quilting and crocheting. It’s taken so long for this to happen.
“Drink with class!” You are the cutest! I, too, drink with class! Haha 😊
Watching this today. I’m glad to see you know who The Crochet Crowd is. While there are lots of tutorials out there, everyone has their preferences. There is always room for more.
Hi Juan! If you really want to knit, Nimble Needles has videos. Hes patient and interesting. I like him
Thanks! Loved this Q&A. As multi-faceted as you are, your passion for crochet shines through! p.s. great haircut!!
Juan,
tremendous information!!! You are such an inspiration! Thank you for your positive feedback about Premier Puzzle Yarn!!!
Hi Juan
You have such a lovely smile that makes my day 😊 I am really enjoying your content here in Australia 🇦🇺 😂
Great video! Thanks for sharing more of you. You’re full of surprises, from mechanics to violin player!! Wow, good for you 👏🏼👏🏼
Happy to be here for Q & A part 2 !!!!
Love the haircut and thanks for sharing a piece of you with us ❤
You are a delightful person and your haircut looks great.

Your Q & A was very enjoyable and it was nice to get to know more about you.
This one was fun, Juan! I've changed two transmissions with my brother-in-law many years ago, believe it or not, lol.
Doesn't matter if there's hundreds of the same thing. People resonate with different people and pick and choose who they like to watch so do what you want.
The more I learn about you the more I like! You are so interesting! Keep up the good work! Hugs
Love the hair cut ❤love the channel ! Thank you for sharing and inspiring!
Wow, you do so much! When do you sleep? Loving your channel!
😱 the Spanish tiles Afghan would be fabulous❤
You are a gem in my little corner of videos. Love watching you. 6'6"? Holy Garfield. I am 5 foot 1/2 inches...13 inches shorter than my son...I am "fun sized" 😂
Hello Juan and everyone 😊
I love it that you work on trucks! I am a MOPAR and Ford Muscle Gal at heart who crochets!
I’ve been crocheting for over 50 years and my son crochets as good as me
Favorite stitch: Double Herringbone!!!!! found it 2 years ago, took me a month to master it, but i LOVE the way it looks!!!!
Thanks for the honest peek into your life. You’re a real renaissance man. Love your channel
To do a Live Video, bring a violin and play a piece for us. I would enjoy that very much.
I still think your Metro Shawl is an excellent one for beginners. I've not seen that way of crocheting a shawl. In fact, I recommended it to someone. She liked it!
I watch fiber spider, mikey crochet crowd, its raining yarn,... And now you...
Love you all
As someone who has been crocheting longer than you have been alive, I would make a suggestion that you give some natural fibers a try.
I can totally relate with crochet being therapy that’s what it is for me I love it and I’m so glad I found it
Love your q&a videos. I learned my 3 grandsons to crochet. I am 63 and think its good for kids to crochet. Male or female
I can't wait for the Spanish blanket video. I'd love to make one for my Spanish best friend. I'm making a blanket using Bernat blanket yarn in the closed granny square. One big piece. Thanks to your video.
Heartland yarn has a beautiful drape for wearable. I love it.
😂😉I’m going to do the 20 favorite beanies too🎉. Going to start with the chunky yarn Bulky Bon Bon first
