    You can create track diagrams for the fascia of your layout using software you already have. Let me show you how: th-cam.com/video/KZo8LUXVBLI/w-d-xo.html

    Love see how you plan this new section and how it comes along . Looking forward to see more and how it comes out and especially how you do it all....thanks for sharing....Jack 👍👍
    Just a hint, use the line function when lining up turnouts so you get a smooth transition, hope this helps!

    Great video showing how you use any rail. I used the trial to get the basic concept of my mainline, I found it to be pretty easy software to use because I had no clue what I was doing. Thanks for sharing!

    Ron, love the expansion...you can finally do Saginaw justice!!! Also like how you incorporated the "Trinity Connection". (the duckout track to Intermodal staging.) Can't wait to see what you do with Bowie.

    Hi Ron, I don't know if I had mentioned that I am running the same software, anyway I am really interested in your input on this. Thank you for your time and effort. This is so impressive. The inclusion of industry and spurs, sidings, etc. is really imaginative on your part and I wanted to applaud your effort.

    This was really interesting--the details of what a real rail would be in real life and that is what you are modeling. I also found the "AnyRail" software you used and downloaded it to try it. I saw removing the helix was needed since you are adding this extra space, so that has to be exciting to get that working. This makes me want to set up trains! I admit I am 100% a novice but I want to try it.

  • @CONTAINERMAN68
    @CONTAINERMAN68 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Need more space for the intermodal trains! How were you able to acquire the extra land for the expansion? Who did you bribe, to look the other way?

    Hey Ron, great video! I'm pretty new at this hobby and have one question. Lets take your Koch Industries for example, how do you know how much room you need around the sidings for all the tanks, buildings, and the rest of the scenery? Do you have to predetermine what buildings you want to use and premeasure them? Yeah, I know, that was two questions. I will take my punishment later. Thanx for the video, hope your new expansion turns out great!

    • @RonsTrainsNThings
      @RonsTrainsNThings  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, Dave. That is a great question. Ideally it is nice to have structure kits chosen in advance so you at least know the size of their footprint. That isn't always possible, and sometimes the space available dictate the size of a structure. In that case you sometimes need to kitbash or modify a kit or scratchbuild a structure to fit the space available.

    Anyrail is now up to version 6.32.1. There was an improvement in EXPORT to JMRI, with several enhancements.
    Here is a tip for you -
    Do you have sensor icons on your panel? Do you notice that when you load in your panel, the sensor icons are small little circles that are grayed out? Then after the first sensor update, they appear as the icon graphic you have selected. On the NEXT update, they change to the true state of the sensor. It takes TWO updates to get to this status.
    If you examine the xml file of the panel there will be a line for "sensor default status -= unknown.
    by changing this unknown to "inactive". The panel will start up with the icons showing correctly in an inactive state. The very FIRST sensor update will now cause the sensor icon to appear correctly according to layout conditions. If you EXPORT to JMRI, you need to be running Anyraill 6.32.1 for latest appearances to the import function.

    Hi Ron - when are you producing the second tutorial on AnyRail?

    • @RonsTrainsNThings
      @RonsTrainsNThings  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Soon. I want to get the benchwork on the lower level built. After that I will be building the helix, which will take quite some time, so I plan to do some AnyRail tutorials during that time.

    The wall you added must not be a full height if you are going to have track on both sides? I thought you had already started by tearing out the spiral? You may as well take over the rest of the room while you are planning.👍😉

    Hey Ron! Thanks for sharing with us your expansion plan on Anyrail6. I love this software and it is a great guide to use and I am in the process of building level two benchwork of my layout which will be my industrial area. Now when you actually put in the track on the benchwork, do you plan track around buildings or buildings around track? Thanks for sharing! - Jason

  • @andrewl9191

    This isn't a "doesn't anybody use a pencil and paper anymore" but do you sketch this out on paper at all before working in Any Rail? I'm sure it's pretty helpful to see if something actually works. Just getting back into model railroading, it looks like a lot of people take to just using turnouts (etc) and flextrack instead of small sections of track, either straight or at a set angle. I've tried the trial of Any Rail and it seems nice. It can be a little confusing with some of the brands and picking the right parts to drop in. It certain isn't adobe photoshop, but I've been happy with it.

    Hey Ron, great video as always. I am just a bit confused about what you are doing about your fireplace. Are you just blocking it off or removing it all together or am I just confused about the placement of it in the room in regards to your expansion? I really do like how you have shown us how you use Anyrail 6. Now my wife just needs to let me know if our new desktop computer will be a Windows machine or an Apple one. Thanks again for sharing this with us.

      @RonsTrainsNThings  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Brandon. You are clearly familiar with Saginaw. If you watched the whole video, one of the last things I did was install a turnout to go to Alliance. I don't have room for the full wye, but I'm modeling half of it.

    • @brandonfrey8579
      @brandonfrey8579 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did, and I think that it’s an awesome layout. Definitely love train spotting in Saginaw. The wye is one of my favorite parts of the area. It’s great to see someone model that part of the metroplex. I’m working on an HO scale shelf build of part of East Arlington. Definitely don’t have the room for the GM yard. I enjoy your channel and thanks for sharing your knowledge.
