While SM64 may be mid-ish (not really), SMS and SMG are two of many great Mario games, and the movie ain't even out yet, so you can't really clown on it till we actually get some kind of footage. The 1st Sonic movie was mediocre at best, and 2nd one was pretty good, but WAY too overhyped. Most of Sonic's games are pretty overrated and Sonic will never be as popular or fun as Mario, but that is literally just facts.

I personally really like both. Mario definitely has higher highs than Sonic with the mainline games and Sonic has lower lows. But Sonic has experimented more with the gameplay with games like Unleashed and the Adventue games while Mario usually has that tried and true gameplay for years but they do change stuff every once in awhile with games like Sunshine and Odyssey. Both have their pros and cons but I still love them equally as much.
Finally someone mades mario to be liquid because everyone is makes sonic to be liquid which is not right because mario is the one who beats sonic in the console war
