I want to mention something that must have changed since you made this tutorial- when you click on the "preview" form, now google says that "submit button is unavailable in preview mode." Instead, once in "preview" mode you have to go to the top right and click "copy responder link", paste that into your search bar, and that will pull up the real form that you can submit answers through. I guess they like making things convoluted for no reason!

Suggestion: Rather than go into the formula, you can just ctrl-h (or edit -> Find and replace), check "also search within formulas", and search "all sheets", and adjust the "Expenses", Expenses1" all at once!

One request I'd like to make is that, if possible, could you make an updated detailed tutorial on how to customize different parts of your expense tracker? the other tutorials are several years old and i noticed theres no one video that teaches you in detail on how to use the 2024 tracker. e.g I'm still confused by the income dashboard and how to customize that. Brilliant Tracker. Just got mine set up and can't wait to start properly using it. Love the idea of adding forms as it makes it so much easier, I used to manually input each outgoing and ingoing transaction into my previous form.
I was really excited to use your method for tracking expenses -- when I got around to setting this up, none of it was getting auto-populated in real time (like you're showing in the video). I have found no fix. It seems many others are having the same issues as well. Can't find anything on your page(s) for an updated anything. Unfortunate.
@@farhatalam8568 on google sheets click Tools > Manage form > Go to live form. Make sure this is the form you are using, I found that my I was entering numbers into the wrong form. Hopefully that helps

In the forms, settings defaults > form defaults > Verified. And if that doesn't work, got to preview mode and copy responder link in the top right and just use that link. Had to figure it out myself.

If I wanted to modify this to have the weekly reports start on Sunday instead of Monday, do the formulas on the weekly page (in cells c2:m54) need to be modified? I'm not super familiar with the "Weekday" formula but from what I can see it looks like you just have the formula return results within a seven day period from the date entered in column B. So basically if I just change the date in column B is that enough or do I need to tweak a number in the formula as well? Thanks in advance
I get paid Fridays so I wanted my week to start on Friday. I changed all the dates of Week Starting to the Friday dates but it got rid of some of my data (ie, rent on January 1 is no longer appearing for some reason). Did you figure out how to correct the formula?
You have no idea how much your tracker has helped me! I love the details, the weekly and monthly overviews, and the attention to detail with the formulas ( i am not the spread sheet type). Years ago i spent half a day building from scratch your expense tracker and i remember learning a plathora of tips and tricks that were new to me so I thank you I do have request. Would it be so hard to custom make a spread sheet to make it more of a dashboard? The idea is that i want to use you expense trackers capabilites to add more specific details for a household that shares many expenses such as a family. i.e Id like to add categories for groceries such as meats, dariy, grains, desserts etc to this dashboard so that any member can view it and see how much in percentage the family is eating out. This feature will also allow it eassier for members who opt out of , for example, meats, so that the group can calculate how much to reduce their individual bill at the end of the month. Does this make sense? I know you have to create a sub section in the google form but what i struggle with is using most formulas. Would this be something your interested in? of course i value your time and would like to compensate you appropriately Sincerely Jon

Hi, setting up mine right now. Figured out that you can change the Currency by going to 'Format' -> 'Number' -> 'Custom numer format' and then change that to the same, but with Euro sign. So like this: _("€"* #,##0.00_);_("€"* \(#,##0.00\);_("€"* "-"??_);_(@_) You can then drag the format onto other cells, but be carfull as it might also copy other formatting.

@@ashleymcnamara4832 Open the form, and while you are in the browser just search and download the page as icon on homescreen. There is a video of Deborah profile how to do that as well. Actually just download the page as an Icon on your homescreen.
I want to do this so badly- I am on my 3rd try trying to set it up and my 12.00 test subscription never "refreshes" over on the monthly budget side. If anyone could help, I would greatly appreciate it, I am getting so frustrated :(

Hello, I just set up the tracker. I have a question - if I’d like to add a custom category, how would I go about doing it? For example, I’d like a separate category just for coffee so I can see how much I’m spending on coffee throughout the year. Can someone please advise?
@Deborah Ho after linking the sheet the form is not recording the responses - says it cant be answered in preview mode. when i go to the responder link and did a test run, it did not connect it to my full expense report/sheet. Any advice?

The formula isn't recognizing just Expenses for me and I'm unsure what to do, it shows N/a or Error when I delete the 1 or change to Expenses

You can then drag the format onto other cells, but be carfull as it might also copy other formatting.
It is not allowing me to click the submit button on the expense form
go to preview mode and copy responder link in the top right and just use that link.
As a few others have said below, the submit button is not active and it states: "Submit button unavailable in preview mode."
Any help would be appreciated.
I have this same issue
You can't submit data in preview mode now. Click on the icon for "copy responder link" - it's three to the right of the preview icon - copy the link and open it in that or a new tab.

@@ashleymcnamara4832 Open the form, and while you are in the browser just search and download the page as icon on homescreen. There is a video of Deborah profile how to do that as well.
Actually just download the page as an Icon on your homescreen.
I want to do this so badly- I am on my 3rd try trying to set it up and my 12.00 test subscription never "refreshes" over on the monthly budget side. If anyone could help, I would greatly appreciate it, I am getting so frustrated :(

Is there a good way to add more dates to the tracker? I want to include Decemeber 2024 as I have just started using this, but its only listing 2025 dates. Other than that, very excited to start using this, tysm for making it :)

hi! im really looking to start budget exactly like this in the new year! i can make a copy of the weekly expense tracker, but the income and expense two individual forms say i need permission to open them so im stuck. the website says its free, but even if that's changed id still want to get it. please respond and help me out!!

You have to copy the link and add from there...but then it doesn't auto-populate....
i cannot get the income dashboard to pop up correctly. i follow all of the instructions but that is the only one that is not working.
Thank you so much for this. I'm trying to set up me 2025 one and the forms a requiring publishing now to be able to then go to the link and use them. Any idea what I may have done? The ones in my 2024 are fine. And then the original ones downloaded from you are also fine, but this year's is weird.

Hello, I just set up the tracker. I have a question - if I’d like to add a custom category, how would I go about doing it? For example, I’d like a separate category just for coffee so I can see how much I’m spending on coffee throughout the year. Can someone please advise?

@Deborah Ho after linking the sheet the form is not recording the responses - says it cant be answered in preview mode. when i go to the responder link and did a test run, it did not connect it to my full expense report/sheet. Any advice?
