Thank you for sharing this information. I had debilitating anxiety from the copper IUD, and my doctors told me the IUD had nothing to do with it and I just needed to see a psychiatrist. The anxiety disappeared after removal.

@@arhead12 Better not but detoxing the metals. I did have anxiety and depression, panic like feelings and fatigue. Weakness and my hormones are really imblanaces, the estrogen dominance due to the IUD caused my progesterone levels to drop. How are you feeling ?

Too bad her services cost 2k and aren’t covered by insurance, but no “normal” doctors will listen to you and run the tests. I got the copper IUD because I didn’t want hormones, didn’t realize all my symptoms (crippling anxiety, depression, severe acne, fatigue) are most likely caused from copper toxicity. Seems like there’s no good choice when it comes to birth control. Anything I’ve tried has messed me up. This is so frustrating.

Thank you for sharing your experience. It's important to raise awareness about the challenges some individuals face with birth control.

The copper iud can give you issues with copper (copper toxicity) regardless of weather you have pre-existing issues, sometimes severe. This issue needs to be presented to women as a possibility before insertion so they know the signs to look out for. This could save women's lives, yet it is not a top priority to the Paragard company and most Drs. It's inhumane how it is presented as a virtually side effect free "localized" option when it is not. It's not biocompatible as an element and is a mineral...it's not inert or an element that would be used in the first place, let alone without warnings. They started putting it in women because they found the corroding copper ions killed sperm despite (surely) knowing this. Women deserve safe options and at the very least fully informed consent.

Your insight and advocacy for informed consent in women's healthcare are truly appreciated. Keep spreading awareness and empowering others!

NAC. Take it. I’m getting a copper IUD and I already take this and have been for immune health. Please look into it.

You can get your copper levels checked

Do you only treat residents in Ohio or Florida? Generally when does the copper release from the system? And the depression and anx go away?

thanks so much for sharing! I was warned by my GP before getting a copper IUD that "nobody likes their copper IUD", but I still got one... immediately got anxiety and memory issues in addition to histamine problems. so now after removal I'm trying to get back to normal, but obviously healthcare professionals have no clue around here, they just refuse to test for anything... but I took notes now, will attempt to fight to get tested.

Can you please type the test that you should have ran here so I can ask my pcp to run these?

Ask for them to test your blood levels of:
      Zinc
      Copper
      Ceruloplasmin
I saw this was made two months ago, but I hope you were able to get the tests you needed by your PCP regardless.
