I feel like this band (mainly myles) are hugely underrated, almost every mainstream outlet hasn't recognised their perfection or really publicised expect for large exceptions, where anyone who know how to play really respects them and will become massively supportive to their fan base. A masterpiece of its time. Learning this on guitar. It is so beautifully constructed. Wow. Myles Kennedy has a voice I'm fucking hooked on. Same with Tim Mcllrath from Rise Against. Distinctive voices that suit what they're singing. Saw these guys at Soundwave twice over the last 2 or 3 years. An amazing live band. \m/ I am a metal head but I am picky and I don't like when EVERY instrument/vocal is screaming and bashing. This is different. You can hear and appreciate all instruments/vocals, they are playing different riffs and they fit together like a jigsaw puzzle. Play this song at my funeral please. 1:49 to 2:24 gives me spine chills. Mostly when his scream kicks in.

It's more that he's away from the self righteous ego of Scott Stapp. Alter Bridge is Creed just without Stapp and therefore more freedom to do what they want.

But as Myles has slowly become more and more involved with the songwriting and guitarmanship the sound has continued to evolve to the point where there are hardly any similarities to Creed present on Fortress.

The thing that surprises me most about Alter Bridge is how underrated and how relatively unknown they are...especially with how absolutely massive Creed was in the late 90s/early 2000s
Good description. It's pretty much how I define their sound: a combination of classic hard rock and metal with post-grunge influences. Though I think this changed for Fortress, which sort of let go of most of the post-grunge influence and replaced it with some progressive elements.
Alter Bridge is just an awesome band. Myles Kennedy is wonderful, of course - goes without saying, really. But additionally, Alter Bridge has finally given me an opportunity to familiarized myself with Mark Tremonti's spectacular abilities. Never was a Creed fan because I can't stand Scott Stapp...but once I was able to listen to Tremonti in a Stapp-free environment, I became an instant fan. Can't wait for more AB! Bring on AB4! Myles rocks! Mark rocks! AB rocks!
