I've lived in New York my whole life and was a NYC police officer. The city still amazes me everytime I go. I still have yet to see 95% of the city, even though I was a cop there. You can spend your whole life finding new stuff. It's probably the most fascinating city ever. But avoid Penn Station at all costs. It's a total craphole, and I think people get turned off when they arrive. Also avoid Times Square. It's a tourist trap and sort of crappy place. Got hit the Metropolitan Museum of Art and then take a stroll through central park, which is attached to it. Head over to Hillstone downtown for the best BBQ ribs you've ever had.
Leave the millionaires row and go and see the real city. Public safety in NY subway is non existent, the train station and trains are dirty and smelly. Felt worse than a train in a third world country. NY is crazy, many small theft happens in broad day light and they steal the store goods and sell it openly just outside the store in broad day light, crimes are left uncheck due to the stupid law if the amount stolen is less than 1000USD it is minor crime. New York is in a downward spiral of impending doom. High tax, high inflation, high rent, no childcare support. No low/mid class family can sustain living in there. Small business owners are losing the battle.

I don't understand why anyone would want to live in a big city. Having a large property with lots of open space around is the biggest luxury in the world for me.
