This storyline is ridiculous. They didn't have to break up Vanity, destroying a beautiful three year loving, committed relationship and tearing a family apart. While in the process also destroying Charity's character progress. So I hope Michelle comes back soon, to reunite Vanity.
And this has totally overshadowed the all clear news! Why didn't Vanessa explain to Charity on Wednesday she was going for the test?! Yet again, Charity's been left out.

After everything they’ve been through, Charity deserves a chance to explain. IMHO... it was a stupid, horrible, senseless mistake and she was wrong and she clearly knows it. This was all so unnecessary. The audience would have been fine with Vanessa being away to care for her mother. Charity and the kids could have visited off screen. Instead we get this bs. This storyline does such a disservice to Charity’s growth in her relationship with Vanessa. 🤨

Also, Charity has come a long way but she still has a very long way to go when it comes to reactivity, impulse control and feelings of inadequacy. This storyline does a lot for potentially progressing Charity's growth and it makes the most sense. Objectively speaking, can you think of a plausible storyline where Vanessa is away for another 6mo to a year (likely 1.5yr in total) without Charity, her son and her sister with her?

Sadly it's the typical Brit-soap "girl x girl" storylines: 1) One of them gets killed off (e.g. Maddie on Corrie and Rana on Corrie). 2) One of them cheats. It sucks that there isn't a "girl x girl" couple that are a well known, long lasting couple, like Sally and Kevin Webster was on Corrie. 😔

For this to be a soap, the storyline is pretty on-brand. I can't really think of another scenario that would separate them for the next 6 months to a year and have them still be together.
I'm not saying that Charity is in any way in the right here and she did make a huge mistake and should get the consequences for it BUT I have a hard time to believe that a three-year-long committed relationship between two people who just a few weeks ago referred to each other as the best thing that has happened to them and where one of them has just adopted the other's kid would end just because of one kiss with a stranger. Yes, it was wrong but it was a stupid spur of the moment thing and considering how long they have been together and how committed they are to each other it really seems unrealistic that this would end them just like that. Maybe if it was earlier in the relationship I would buy it but right now this feels so forced.

Yeah there has been some vague announcements about them ending together eventually and having a happy ending. But anything can happen, I mean the writers could screw us viewers again like they did this whole Charity cheating plot. The whole plot seemed silly. As a Vanessa you should not run away from your problems, you sort them out and work out through them. Throwing away years of relationship over a meaningless kiss sounds pretty drastic even if you are getting treatment for the cancer at the same period of time. As a Charity you could also blame Vanessa for leaving her hanging. It is as big of an offence as kissing a stranger.
Vanessa being out of Emmerdale right now almost makes me not really wanna watch emmerdale at the time being. Can't wait untill she gets back. To be honest I only watch Emmerdale to follow Charity, Vanessa and Debbies ordeals, those are my favourite characters. They might be interesting as a solo characters as well but in my opinion they are my favourite couple of Emmerdale as of being together.
Adding to last comment I am tipping my hat of to Emmerdale writers. I am glad that they have decided a path were they do not kill of characters constantly and unrealistically. They have decided to make longterm choices keeping most of the characters and faces in the show same through out the years. The characters have time and place to grow like in real life, eventually dying of age or in an accident but they are not feasting of the idea of death.
