    While the colours do pop much more on the 1000, I detested seeing the grey swaths on what should have been an all-black screen. Also, to me, the start and select buttons on the 2000 were light years better than the mini, almost depressed ovals on the 1000. I don't know who thought those "buttons" would be a good idea, but I could never accurately get them to work for me. I do agree that the build quality overall for the 1000 feels a bit better, but in the end I enjoy the 2000 more as its weight, shape, and usability (buttons) are much more to my liking.

    I chose slim a few years ago and haven't regretted it once. My brother had issues with every single aspect of his 1000 model, burn in, battery discharge after not even lasting that long to begin with, overheating, hard to press start select and ps buttons as over time they would get stuck under the shell. broken cables expensive to replace, you name it. To me I couldn't care less about an oled screen that's going to fail and a cable that only fits that and I need to make sure is kept pristine. The 2000 wins in every single category for me and I would recommend it to anyone.
    Take it from people who have seen them side by side and know what problems can arise, it's barely noticeable for the most part, and it isn't worth the hassle.
    Trust.

    • @DarkZemX
      @DarkZemX 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree 100%. I have my vita for game collection purposes with tons of retro games and emulators for when I'm in the mood for it. The battery life on the 2000 is way better and avoiding issues that come with the 1000 helps preserve my collection even better. The screen looks great as well so if it keeps its quality in the long run unlike the older model I see it as a win win. This was a great review btw

    • @shortbreadhead
      @shortbreadhead 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@DarkZemX This. it's not just about the games, you need to be able to play them and the 2000 means you're always able to grab the usb cable from somewhere to charge it IF it even needs charged. You mentioning the battery, actually this morning I went to my vita to check something, I hadn't turned it off, just locked the screen. It was around 2/3 remaining. Now, I didn't realise at the time, I only do now after checking my trophies for the game I was playing when I locked the screen.. that was on the 16th of last month. It had been sitting there, not charging, locked screen for over 2 weeks with the game paused. I have left my switch sitting next to me to pick up and play before, 2 days locked screen (and that's the newer model with the better battery). I don't think I need to say more than that!
      Yeah I feel the screen does look great, and there are minor differences with the face buttons, at least it feels that way to me. The start and select buttons are completely changed (What I just said about the face buttons I didn't mean the start and select, I meant the triangle and blah blah blah lol) which to me is very important. I had borrowed my brothers 1000 before buying one and I could NOT stand them, hard to press, awkward shape, found myself losing them and pressing the wrong one because they don't protrude at all, and that also made it difficult to press them properly even if I did get them. I have big hands, big thumbs, those tiny little rice shaped buttons are impossible.
      The slim is also actually more comfortable having bigger hands, it feels more ergonomic.
      PS. I haven't modded my Vita, I did consider it when they announced the store would be shutting down but then they reversed that decision. The main reason I haven't done so is because I go out of my way to get as many trophies in the games I love, and I want that to show when my friends look at my trophies that I spend a lot of time on the vita, and maybe it's a somewhat futile attempt to prove to sony that there are people out there that still love the system, still love handheld gaming and would love to see a followup console (I have said before I think they should call it the PsPhoeniix, shorten that to PSPx and it keeps the brand recognition they already have, I also think it would be clever since Vita means life, and if they kill it, well... only a Phoenix can rise from the ashes. **Plz Sony, I only want a 3% cut haha).
      Hope you continue to enjoy your Vita :)

      @@shortbreadhead honestly I would say go for it, it adds even more fun to the vita customizations and tweaks. And you still get trophies for vita games and games that have trophies implemented. I recommend it especially if you have alot of space. I have awesome games from my childhood like rival schools, bloody roar 1 and 2. I love how people don't stop to consider that even though OLED is generally a superior panel type, there are many nuances in manufacturing that go over most people's heads. Given QC is identical the OLED will win out in most cases, though that doesn't stop a high quality LCD screen from winning out over a lower quality OLED. Calibration is another factor. I would pick a well calibrated LCD over a poorly calibrated OLED.

    The display difference is very much noticable even in video; but what's really misleading is that you swapped the position of the 1000 and 2000 in the dark scene, making people confused that the 2000 looks ok or better, when in fact, it was the 1000 swapped position with the 2000.
    The illumination of the PS button on the 1000 gives the position of 1000 away.
    In bright and obvious scene, you put 1000 at the top and 2000 at the bottom, but when comparing display in dark scene, you swapped 1000 to the bottom.

    • @JustAnotherGamer1005
      @JustAnotherGamer1005 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Where did he swap positions? When he is filming directly above the ps vita's, during daylight or night, the Vita 2000 is always the top one and Vita 1000 at the bottom. When he is filming from an angle, that's where the Vita 1000 is on the left and the Vita 2000 on the right.
      So I don't see where the misleading part is.

    • @Gaming214-y3g
      @Gaming214-y3g 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      What's important is that, there is no consistency in the placement. In different shots, you'll see the bottom is obviously better and in some shots, you'll see the top is better. And it gives the wrong impression if someone thought the top is always the 1000 and the 2000 were better in some scenes (especially the dark scenes) and the 2000 colors pop more, when in fact, those are the 1000. The 1000 display is obviously much better (in it's already obvious in the video), in real life it's even more.
      OLED is just so much better, that's why our phones look so good and those that have tried or switch to OLED TV most likely won't ever go back. Of course, the very main concern for OLED is infamous burn-in, especially for a used PS Vita.

    • @JustAnotherGamer1005
      @JustAnotherGamer1005 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Gaming214-y3g Sorry, but 2:42 is exactly what I was talking about, one at the left, one at the right.
      Your 3:00 mark doesn't prove anything either, as any front comparison of the screen, the placement of both the 1000 and 2000 are the same. 1000 at the bottom and 2000 the top.
      So my previous comment still stands. And, as you also said in one of your comments, it's obvious which one is which, because the 1000 model has a visible light up PS button at the front, which the 2000 doesn't.
      And as I just recently got a hold of a Slim model (by choice), I can also say the videos I've seen, don't do that justice either. For example, the viewing angle isn't that bad like the video makes it out to be. Because of the videos, I was actually surprised how far an angle I could get while retaining full color view. And that is much further than I will ever hold the Vita.
      I did choose for the Slim version, as it speakers sounded much better, I liked the ergonomics more and, knowing I would be modding it and extend the rgb range of it. A stock Vita is set to a range 16-235 for some reason. Adjusting the registry you can enable the full range of 0-255. As soon as I did that, the image really started to 'pop'. Videos on TH-cam really don't do it justice of how much it improves it. In the beginning it felt a little bit too saturated. So if an Oled 'pops' even more, I don't think I would want that, as I already think on a Slim with full range rgb it is borderline. (I also found this: www.reddit.com/r/VitaPiracy/comments/gq66hr/i_reached_out_to_a_former_vita_engineer_regarding/)
      I actually somebody comes up with a slider where we ourselves would be able to adjust saturation and range. Or even color temperature. Because that is the main difference between the oled and the lcd, color temperature. As oled has a more blue tint, it's a colder color temperature, while the lcd has yellow tint, which is warmer. And actually, there are people who get restless of the blue tint. I've had a student once, who got special filter on his glasses to eliminate that blue tint, as it made him unconsciously agitated. That also why for example windows 10 has that nightlight option. It makes the screen a more yellow tint, as it is more relaxing to the eye. I use it in the evenings, when I want to watch something before I go to sleep. I fall asleep way quicker with the yellow tint than with the blue tint.
      Anyway, 1000 model or 2000 model just boils down to personal preference. And I wouldn't take advice from anyone claiming exuberant differences. You like an oled, slightly bulkier feel/grasp, go for a 1000. You want a lighter, slightly more ergonomic feel and bit crisper audio, go for 2000. Battery life of both depend on what you do with it: if you overclock it or have the brightness of the screen turned all the way up,... .
      Also, as the same nay-sayers claim that the 2000 is cheap plastic. Well, it is plastic (tell me which device isn't these days), but it is quality plastic! Feels very soft and sturdy. I do know they sell colored frames on Aliexpress, which I read feel cheap compared to the official ones.
      I've had a hard time deciding which model I would go for, just because those 'fanboy' disruptive comments (if it isn't the brand they fight over, then it's the hardware they fight over. They all just have one thing in common: their insecurity and their need to have their choices validated by others). These kind of people bring no valuable arguments to the table to make informed decisions.
      I'm glad with my device, I'm having fun with it and coming from a psp (2000), even in Adrenaline I'm noticing improvements, just by the size of the screen and the colors. Too bad it doesn't fully take advantage of the Vita hardware.
      Now I'm waiting for my L2/R2 grips to arrive, because remoteplay with the touchscreen or TouchPad is really hard and in lots of cases even impossible. So when a hot day in the summer, I can play on my PS3/PS4 without having to stay indoors.
      Sorry, was messaging through my smartphone and just realize how long my message is.
