I have a lower back injury form a 60 kg deadlift 3 years back. And I've immediately noticed from the first walk that walking with trekking poles is great! All of a sudden 2 hours straight, 8 km, no breaks no painkillers. Just enjoyment of walking and nature, I'm grateful for this discovery!

Thank you so much for your informative video. It is an encouragement. I thank God for his Goodness for allowing me to recover from heart and brain stroke December 29, 2019. Due to the pandemic my doctor give me strict order of non-exposure. 2020 I’m now back to walk. I bought my walking poles and to walk again around our garden yard 😊. Thank you so much for your encouragement. God bless you.

10:11 Donald, absolutely terrific testimony and evidence. Thank you. I’m 75 and have had chronic back pain for 20 years. I bought Gabel Nordic poles a few months ago, and took a short course with Inner Melbourne Nordic Walking here in Australia. I now feel like a greyhound when I step out with the poles, light on my feet and joyful. My back straightens automatically and pot belly (still working on that!) recedes in unison. I find the warm-up and warm-down exercises I was taught as part of the course (using the poles for stability) are an essential part of the whole experience. I have an 85 year-old friend, previously very active but now normally bent almost horizontal and forever fearful of falling, with Nordic poles is fully upright, naturally moving so much faster, and laughing at the sheer pleasure of it all.
YES to Nordic walking! (As opposed to trekking poles which are quite different).

I bought some Leki Nordic Walking Poles and tried them out for the first time yesterday. I have chronic back pain and normally can't walk very far without having to stop and sit down. But with the Nordic poles, I was able to walk about twice what I normally would, with very little pain. It's a good arm workout too. I feel confident that as I get in better shape, I'll be able to extend my range even more. Thanks for the great explanation.

I’m 70 and have had lower back pain and used many therapists chiropractic pills with little help. I was a runner and played tennis for most until my ACL replacement at age 62. I refuse to accept being a couch potato and just ordered Excel poles. I have asthma as a child and now have short breath after Covid but I am getting stronger everyday using a the” Breather Coach” that was developed by a woman but I understand this promotes 20% lung increase by scientific studies along with the many you mentioned. Thank you for your testimony and you have inspired me to get started!

I have rheumatoid arthritis, I have just bought some Nordic poles not used them yet I’m just learning how to use them through TH-cam now I know I’m off out tomorrow… can’t wait

My Chiropractor just suggested I try the Nordic technique. I purachased the Nordic Glove poles. I have watched some TH-cam videos and you said you haven't heard of a medical person recommending the Nordic style. Well, I am saying that my chiropractor did and now I will go walk. Thank you for sharing.

Kol ha'kavod! (All the honor to you, Doctor.) If my patients would try the sticks, I would lose my Chiropractic practice income...but then I'd become a Nordic walking instructor.
Swimming or rather water aerobics is even better, but the costs can"t compare. (I have had to replace the rubber boots on my sticks about once a year for the price of a coffee.)
If a person can cross-crawl like a baby on the floor or on a bed, he can Nordic walk. If he can't, he should get some occupational therapy to learn.
    Keep up the good work.

I use shoe goo or what you would call a flexible adhesive in combination with slices from a wine bottle cork. Works wonderfully...less expensive than coffee, save your money!

how to do...put the shoo goo on the bottom of the boot and place the cork evenly, then add a second layer of shoe goo over the cork. Voila! Welcome to infinity retreads!

Just wished to share something I discovered. A lot of us suffer from a stiff neck. Our range of motion decreases. I notice when I nordic walk I can loosen the muscles quite well on the stiff side by turning my neck as I walk. Unlike static stretch, it's more effective!

Great to hear a medical perspective on Nordic Walking! My favorite sport in the whole world besides Tennis. Doctor, have you had any patients who had Sciatica...my sister still suffers from sciatica even with her practice of pilotes she still experiences sciatica? She is slim and fit otherwise. Thank you for your future response!

My husband has discovered the same relief from his back pain that you describe. He has Parkinson's Disease. Trekking poles have reopened our choices of places to go and enjoy!!!

please look into nordic walking for him...the technique and equipment is far superior to walking with trekking poles! Good luck!

Nordic Walking was shown to be more effective than HIIT. Where can we find your articles?

I have a grandfather who has suffered from back pain for years. Then he discovered the nordic walking sticks and now, he walks for long distances with no pain. This should be disseminated!
