Right in the beginning, following Derren's move your eyes up/down/diagonally from the colour pictures, all the way through, due to the layout of the photos, everyone will choose Jane. This is not a co-incidence, it's merely smart-talking.

From early childhood I could write automatically. But I was told off for it at church. That influenced and blocked my writing path. only now I have become aware that this is actually what I'm meant to be doing. 🌌🦋✍️🐛🙏
You get Jane for anyone but Betty, which draws you to patty. So a majority of people would end up on Jane. Cheap trick.

1:40 This part just ruined the illusion for me. the answer will always be jane no matter where you look at the start because the pattern is already made. some magicians use this trick of set predictions with playing cards or 12 other objects that have atleast 2 defining caractoristics. a lot of what Derren does is just mathematics put in into real life examples with supernatural themes.

i did not follow his direction to pick picture but went with my own intution on which picture speaks to me i picked Emily. and when tried automatic writing i didnt write but the word came to my head was london. no idea why?

Derren publicly states on occasion this is just the ideomotor effect. I'm undecided as to whether he knows but never lets on what the rest of the mechanism behind this practice is. A few people really do know. It is a small club though.

The speech very fast, so was confused.
I am an automatic writer and communicate often. But this is very unique, its like hypnosis almost and a particular side ofvthe brain is made to write words.
Even if i wouldn't see pictures, the seech is indulgent and puts you into trance probably. That how hypnotist do i think.
There are 2 different fields in automatic writing, intuitive writing and real communication with the other side.
But this quite different from what have learned.

I learned _of_ it, while doing my own paranormal research for our investigation program, and I knew I was capable of channeling (because of things forcefully channeling me causing me pain or violent shaking/convulsions), so for me it’s just giving a writing utensil to whatever is channeling me

I haven’t even watched it beyond the first minute (wasn’t what I was looking for, this seems like one of those illusion tricks more than actually helping anyone develop writing. I was just curious to see if I could find a video on how other people automatically write, I haven’t seen more than 2 people actually do it)

If I cover the eyes with my hand and look only at the forehead it becomes like a screen, and I get impressions about influences. You just go with the very first thought, half a thought, and it works.
I want to write about what i experienced watching this video. I was looking through one pic and same city came up my mind i didn't even wrote. I was walking in station watching this video. I got really surprised. Also the picture i found was Jane. I am not sure if it was same person.
They all lead to jane. Only colored photo on the center row.
The photo will always land on Jane if you correctly follow the instructions. Its the way the pictures are laid out means you will always land on her. The whole 'get some sense of personality' thing is just to distract your brain so you don't see immediately that you are being duped.
Is freewriting the same as automatic writing? My therapist suggested freewriting to me
Fwiw, check out Michael Sandler's technique of automatic writing. (He's got a TH-cam channel.)
I think his method is positive & constructive. Your therapist may think it's more 'woo' than mere free-writing.
I just like the dude, btw, and think the world needs more folks like him. He's so positive and good natured it's silly but he's the real deal and how cool is that in times like these?
Whatever you decide, have fun and pull your best angels near because they're real & are great about making the most of such projects. (Yeah I know. But after an NDE I had at 4, let's just say I'm sure they exist.)

The pictures are set up so that with his sequence, you will always end up at Jane. Try it several times, you will ALWAYS end up at jane, no matter where you start.
This isn’t how automatic writing works. This is just some show with clever mind tricks.
It has to be Jane, all the diagonal choices are in the middle row and then the only colour left or right is Jane, well thought out though.
I have tried auto-writing to talk to my dad. I know this is a bit too much but I was missing him. Auto writing happens very quickly. Not like this. It is so fast and most of the words written are barely readable. Something overpowers your hand while writing, it is very strong, it felt as if you are not writing it. This episode looks fake.

I watched the other one first so I didn't know any of the of the people I said I would say in my mind Gary (if I were to do it) not knowing that there was even a Gary.

Saw through the picture trick almost immediately. However clever, if you look at the trick from a mathematical perspective, you can see that the color photos and the black and white photos are placed strategically. The objective is to give you the illusion of free choice by allowing you to choose any color photo at the start. The series of moves however, will always lead back to Jane no matter which color photo you choose. The entire top row leads to the same black and white photo, just like the bottom row does. Both paths eventually lead to the center row after the "diagonal" instruction, after which he gives the command to "go left or right to the nearest color photo." Now you may be wondering, why have like 7 moves to go through then if every color photo could be centered immediately as the 1st or second instruction? well the additional moves sever a few different purposes, it acts as filler to add to the illusion and to make figuring out the trick more difficult, and it also captures who ever chose Jane at the start of the exercise. Jane's photo is the only one that is not in the top or bottom row, so the additional moves captures those who chose Jane and forces them down the same path as everyone else.
I know there are going to be people out there that will call me a skeptic and not believe me, and choose to believe in the "magic" and "spirits". However, I invite you to prove me wrong; go through everyone of the possible choices. You will see that every single one will eventually lead back to Jane, because they all (with the exception of choosing Jane) follow the exact same path as the others in their respective rows. Again, all rebuttals welcome. That being said, its a clever trick seeing as he got so many people fooled, but there are always logical explanations to everything. Ghosts aren't real, and magic isn't real, period.

The _real_ question is: how is it that they both arrived at London? Notice how Derren pauses an uses a lot of unusual phrasing.. I've searched through the video and I can feel that he hints at London but I can't figure out exactly where he drops the hint. It must be very subtle.
+Torgo I remember watching this when it first came out, I also wrote london, I still have an unconcious hand movement to write London.
+Torgo I can only think of two obvious things. One is that London is the first thing everyone thinks of when asked for an English city. But second, when you do automatic writing chances are your first line will be a straight line down. Having done that, and not lifting your hand, it kind of forces an L shape. From there on, I guess that the suggestion of London becomes stronger or something. As for verbal hints I didn't catch any but we dont see what's in the room or what they did before entering the room.

I'd say you're on to something there with the visual hinting. It wouldn't be hard to put a couple subtle clues around. Plus he keeps saying it's a British city. What does anyone and everyone think immediately when you say British city?
Also, she's a student. I'm pretty sure that most of the British universities are in London.
He starts off with the word Victorian, visually there is a man wearing a VICTORIAN uniform style jacket. sideburns like a british rocker lol...they show a victorian table leg, he uses lots of words with the letter L....then says get a sense of the persons personality while looking at pictures lol../.What he is really doing is directing you to the man in the Victorian jacket, and asks where the student lived, what city they came from .... victorian/words with L/man in British uniform jacket/city= London

You get Jane because the colour of her picture is slightly brighter so it fixes you too it. When he says Jane he does it in a curious way which makes you look at her picture and finally he says his and her? I think the implication of the her after the him makes you automatically think of a women or girl. These are all subtle ways to get something into your head complete power of suggestion.
that's not what it is, ur over thinking it. it's a math equation, pick any coloured picture to start with doesn't matter which one, ull end up with Jane. for the 2 that didn't get Jane, they screwed up instructions somehow
